CAN PEOPLE PLEASE ANSWER!!!!!?
im sorry for keep posting but i feel people arnt answering my questions lol...i see others with like 4/5 answers and mine with one answer from a spammer! lol
but here we go
i have been told im depressed god knows how many times, however what the dr's seem to totally ignore are my "happy elevated, highly irritable moods" as if they are nothing, but to be fair when they happen they cause me more problems than the depression!! so below ill try and explain how i feel (dw ill cut it down A LOT lol) i just really want opinions, going to be asked to be referred to someone with a better knowledge of mental health next time i see my GP
well i have periods of feeling totally normal, no depression, no over happiness..
then i have periods never lasting more than about two weeks where i am the social queen!! HELLO im out every night, don't even care if i go home, i don't need to sleep much, i buy LOADS of stuff i don't want or need, even if my bank account is empty i frantically try to get credit online......i get VERY irritable, people say i am very hard to talk to, my speech seems very laud and i seem so excitable when i talk its hard to know what im saying....i feel pressure to talk for example i was sat with my mother and kept saying "whats wrong" it just came out, i say it without consciously choosing to say it.......how can mr dr ignore this! surly everyone can see that would cause me problems??
thanks ";p" for your comment, your right...i think what i mostly seek are people who understand and have been through the same...i mean my gp doesnt really listen, he even told me i had been talking for too long!! xx

Hi there, I can relate closely with your description of your mood changes, swings, highs and lows. You definately are experiencing some form of a mood disorder and it is so frustrating for you that your Gp simply is not making very good choices with you or not listening well. I didn't notice where you live but I can suggest what I might do or have done here in the UK.
Firstly I'd like to comment on your descriptions of your rapid thinking, talkativeness and speaking 'without consciously choosing to say it'. That is so like me. I would not begin to try to diagnose your problems even though at times fellow 'endurers' are the ones who actually understand the way our minds think. The whole rapid talking etc can be part of the highs or manic side of bipolar or another type of rapid mood cycling disorder. It can also be part of hyperactivity side of ADHD and some of your behaviours are definately impulsive....another adhd issue. this can be a separate issue that only a good psychiatrist can check out the signs and history for it but I guess I'm trying to say do not panic that it is a psychotic thing.
Regarding the depression that can be there as a separate issue too but may be part of something like BPD or bipolar. That doesn't seem from your email to be your burning issue at this time thougth.
As someone who is a patient in the NHS system, apologies if you're not in UK as that is only thing I can share my experiences of. I have also worked in the NHS. You have a right to ask your gp to refer you to someone who has the time and understanding to REALLY listen to you, so you can describe you moods, how you feel during and after these highs. Think about discussing also any other issues you want once you have a person you feel more comfortable with who is not going to tell you've talked too much!!! That f**er should possible get a refresher course in their listening and communication skills!
I would agree with comments made by a previous answer that there are many crieteria that you've not mentioned that would actually be relevant to the dr for them to make an accurate diagnosis. Possible eating disorders, drink or drug use, self harming. chaotic relationships, crisis-strewn lives, history of traumatic events including abuse etc, suicidal thoughts/ attempts.................................. Any of the above issues are very private and some are buried under the shame duvet but are relevant if you want a Mental Health Team Professional, pref a Psychiatrist to understand you and help you in the best way.
Personally alot of the above matched me and I realised that maybe I had to accept a diagnosis to get help and therapy. Medication plays a part often, but therapy is what has taught me how to understand myself more, learn better coping skills for day to day life and how to try and feel like I am back in the driving seat in my life. When my extreme moods take over for a minute I have learnt ways to notice and get it in check. It is bigtime hard work and there are no cures, magic pills but its given me some tools to use to do that bit bettre. I have found people who understand what I see as my quirky, crazy ways and feel validated.
Sorry the hyperactive 'talking' too much bit has just taken over!
Definately consider a different dr for a fresh opinion, hopefully one that will listen. You must ask for a referal to see a counsellor or mental health team if they don't offer. Push on until you do get to see someone. In the meantime there are forums a plenty out here to discuss your feelings and experiences on, YOU ARE SOOOOO NOT ALONE.
I hope it's been a little encouragement that some us do 'get it' and have walked the path where you're at. Good luck with it and don't give up til you get where you want to be.

my answer to your other post that I can't access -
borderline personality disorder - usually go from depressed mood to feeling OK (ie no mania etc) & you aren't describing the usual mood swings that come with BPD. There is also a lot of other symptom in the diagnostic criteria for BPD that you haven't made any mention of that tend to take over your life to a point of not being able to be left out.
Bipolar & depression are both very possible however it is impossible to base any diagnosis on what you have put here - a mental health professional will make a diagnosis based on examination of you (& is likely to do a much better job than it sounds like your gp has done)

Hello.
From what you posted (I saw another one of your posts) you might have some sort of bipolar disorder.
I know these things can be treated or worked upon, so make sure you mention that when you see your GP.
Seems like you need an ear, if you need someone to talk to feel free to send me an email from my profile =)
Hope the best for ya! Blessings! Sorry if I cant be much help, but I hope that my words relieve you some =)

im bipolar and also borderline personality disorder. your symptoms do sound like bipolar but (and please dont take this wrong) it kinds sounds like your reading symptoms out of a text book. bipolar can be so many diffrent things. i get more of the depression with mine, just this last year i was in the hospital 3 times for O/D. it took me YEARS! and i do mean YEARS to find a good psychiatrist that knows what hes doing and spends time with me to understand me and give me advice. i say find a new doc and always be very honest. if thier not meeting your needs you will never get better. good luck with all your needs.
