What can I do with Flank steak?

My aunt has been in the hospital for several weeks now and will not be returning for a while. As such, she told us to use all of the food in her house before it goes bad, and my dad brought home an ungodly amount of flank steak, and I have NO idea how to cook it or what I can do with it. Any ideas would be much appreciated! :)

Grill it, pan fry it, roast it, marinate it in French or Italian dressing Look up Carne Asada.

As long as you slice it thin and across the grain and it will be a beautiful piece of meat.

mix up a box of stove top stuffing for either chicken cornbread it really doesn't matter which stuffing you use but do not cook it on the stove top just mix it all up with melted butter, water and then place it on the flank steak and roll the meat up around it to make like a jelly roll. bake for 1 1/2 hours or a bit more in a 350 degree oven. serve with mashed potatoes and a veggie.

flank is also very good cooked in the crock pot, try putting it in the pot add 1/4 to 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce, a 15 oz can of tomato sauce and 1 lb of sliced button mushrooms, let cook 6-8 hours on low serve over rice or noodles.

chop it into cubes and use it in chili in place of ground meat.

Place steak on plate or baking dish and pour marinade over meat. Then cover with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge. Flip every 15 minutes for 1 hour.

Flank steak is a tough cut of meat so it can be used in the same way a roast would be or can be very good if browned and cut in bite size pieces and then used in soups or stews, you can also use it for stir fry, fajitas etc.

Cut it in strips. In a bit of oil, fry onion cut in slices and chopped garlic with a large can of tomatoes with herbs. They come diced in the can already.

When onions are clear, add steak. Brown quickly, then cover and simmer until tender.

    Serve with rice

It's a tougher cut of meat, so you have to use the braising method, or stew it, or marinate and cook for a very short time:

You can marinate it, then broil it on high heat for a couple of minutes. You can cut it up and use it as stewing beef in your favorite stew recipe. You could simmer it for an hour in an herbed tomato sauce on the stove (braising method.)

    Happy cooking!

Use a marinade - the packaged ones are good, just follow package directions. Then grill just to point where it is still a little pink inside. And this is important ... slice thinly ACROSS the grain of the meat. Otherwise it will be tough as shoe leather.

cook Med rare. slice real thin on a bias. Clarify some butter, with roasted garlic cloves, and fresh rosemary. Once sliced, lightly brush with the garlic butter mix. Excellent with mashed sweet potatos.
