How do you make your italian sub?
I want to make home-made italian subs this weekend and I'm not sure of all the right fixings to use. I figured I'll need salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese...what else am I missing (what veggies do you use)? How do you make your perfect italian sub? Thanks!

Choose your favorite Italian meats. I might use Prosciutto, Mortadella, Salame, and Pepperoni
Get a really good loaf of bread and cut it in half like a book (not all the way through. Dress the inside with Italian dressing (or an Italian vinaigrette), then add your sliced Provolone and then the meats.
Top with sliced tomato, thinly sliced red onion and shredded lettuce. Keep it authentic by using Arugula or Romaine. Dress with more Italian dressing and then put the lid on it.
I like to wrap it tightly in foil and pop it in the fridge at least 6 hours before, preferably overnight

Here is our old recipe from our Italian pizzeria
Italian bread / hogie - cut it horizontally
Sprint oil & vinegar on the bread - a touch of salt & pepper
Layer:
Ham
Capicolla
Salami &
Provolone cheese
Top it off with shredded lettuce and thinly sliced tomatoes & thinly sliced onions.
Season with S&P, a touch of oregano, another splash of oil & vinegar.
Cut in half & enjoy....
If you are a fan of pepperoni, add that as well
Also hot peppers are an additional item because some people don't like hot stuff.
Happy cooking

in addition to pepperoni and salami, I like to add black forest ham or prosciutto... it adds a ton of flavor!
I like provlone, mozzarella, and shaved parmesan as far as cheese goes.
Then I have to add that sub dressing that comes in a little glass bottle- it's a vinaigrette made just for subs.
Usually I like black or green olives, pepperoncini's (those yellow hot peppers) or sweet banana pepper slices, maybe some lettuce, thinly sliced onion, thinly sliced tomatoes. Make sure your vggies are SUPER FRESH- it makes all the difference in the world.
