What are some breakfast ideas?
School is starting again and I've never been a big fan of breakfast. During the summer it's better because I have time for pancakes, waffles, etc...but during the term(s) I always just eat a little breakfast bar. This keeps me full for, say, five minutes. So I was wondering if anyone has some good tasting, filling, and fairly easy yet fast breakfast ideas for me.
I like healthy things and wouldn't mind food that involve flax seed, wheat germ, etc...and I don't want things like cereal or breakfast bars (unless it's like granola for a parfait or something.)

Here are some breakfast ideas :)
- To help you stay full go for something high in protein and fiber.
~ Oatmeal
Topping ideas: almond butter or peanut butter, nuts, fresh berries/fruit, dried fruit like cherries, cranberries, blueberries, raisins; cinnamon, natural jam, honey, agave nectar, skim milk or non-dairy milk or nonfat greek yogurt, ground flax seed, etc.
* Non-dairy milk like - almond, soy, rice or coconut milk.
~ Homemade smoothie made with berries/fruit of your choice, milk or non-dairy milk, nonfat greek yogurt & you can add in some ground flax seed.
~ Greek yogurt + a fruit or fruit salad. You can also add some nuts/seeds or ground flax to the yogurt.
Fruit salad combination ideas:
- Strawberries, kiwi
- Watermelon, grapes, strawberries
- Banana, mango, pineapple
- Watermelon, honeydew melon, pineapple
- Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries
- Apple or pear, strawberries
~ Eggs. Hard boiled, poached, scrambled, in an omelet with things like baby spinach, tomato, diced bell pepper, cheese, etc. + fruit or greek yogurt and/or whole grain toast topped with things like nut butter, natural jam, honey, cinnamon, cream cheese, etc.
Examples:
- Cottage cheese, 1-2 hard boiled eggs, fruit or whole grain toast with natural jam
- Spinach & cheese omelet, whole grain toast
- Toasted whole grain english muffin with a slice of cheese, poached egg, sliced tomato & baby spinach
- Egg whites & spinach in a whole grain tortilla with light cream cheese, + yogurt or a fruit
- Hard boiled egg or eggs + a greek yogurt or fruit salad
- Hard boiled egg, almonds, a fruit or yogurt

Scrambled egg and cheese sandwich or burrito. You can add Canadian bacon, mushrooms, etc if you want. Scrambled eggs are super quick so this should take you no more than 10 minutes, start to finish and dishes in the sink/dishwasher.
Smoothie - keep some frozen fruit such as banana and strawberries and then just toss some fruit, ice and a little milk into the blender. Add a tablespoon or two of wheat germ and pulse. Make some toast to go with it.
I agree with the others on the oatmeal as well, I just find it better once the weather turns cooler.
Toast a bagel and top with smoked salmon, a slice of tomato and slices of red onion. Just make sure you have time to brush or take one of the Wisp to-go toothbrushes.
You can make hard boiled eggs and keep them in the fridge, simply peel in the morning (or the night before is ok) and then make some toast. You can put the sliced hard boiled on toast and melt some cheese, make it a sandwich, if you need it to go.
Make some muffins, maybe bran, the night before and grab some fruit to go with it in the morning or a yogurt.

Asparagus, spinach and feta omelette
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 3 minutes
Ingredients:
4 asparagus spears
1 1/2 cup baby spinach
2 large eggs
30 g feta
pepper, to taste
Method:
1. Peel asparagus spears gently with a vegetable peeler to remove the tough outer skin. Blanch in (plunge into) lightly salted boiling water until just cooked. Remove from water and cool in cold (preferably iced) water.
2. Wash baby spinach in cold water to remove dirt and grit. Dry thoroughly, preferably in a salad spinner.
3. With a fork, whisk the eggs in a bowl. Heat a small non-stick frying pan and spray with a small amount of canola oil. When the pan is hot, add the eggs and quickly move the eggs around for 15 seconds.
4. Lower heat and place the spinach leaves on one half of omelet. Put asparagus spears on spinach and crumble some feta on top. Continue cooking on low heat until the egg is almost cooked but still a bit soft. Season lightly with cracked black pepper.
5. Fold the uncovered half of the omelet over the fillings and serve immediately.

I am not a big fan of early breakfast. If I am headed out the door I will grab an apple, banana or a piece of whole grain toast with butter. Pour a cup full of OJ and that's it. This gives me energy and keeps me going till lunch time.

Oatmeal is quick, easy, and will keep you full until lunchtime. What about the microwave breakfast sandwiches you can find in your local freezer section? They only take about 1 minute in the microwave.

I like Breakfast Bowls. The one with bacon, esp. Also a smoothie would be good. Buy some chocolate flavored protein powder to add to it. You could have toast with it to make it more filling.
