Why do they play murder movies on Syfi channel?
I don't mind, just not sure what the content of a movie like, let's say, "Saw", has to do with "science fiction". It's not like any of those gadgets were powered by alien space fuel.

Syfy channel is the tv's trailer park of the town. Seriously, I bet they pay the actors a hot dog and the donations from the church go into making the movies. Those horror movies are about killing the souls of viewers. Never ask such a silly question.

I do NOT regard "Saw" (and its sequels) as "Sci-fi", but just slasher gore! If you want real sci-fi, dig "Blade Runner" (watch the original, NOT Ridley Scott's re-released director's cut...he's SO into himself) or "Repo Man" w/Emilio Estevez. So many GREAT sci-fi films were from the 80's! (E,T, Alien, Terminator, etc.).
