How to read CNBC morning stock ticker?
I was watching the business news on CNBC, and noticed that the ticker would say something like "Exxon down - 100@$79.00".
What does the "100" mean?

That ticker you are referring to is showing real-time trades. Those are normally shown after-market. So that is 100 shares at $79.00 per share.

The ticker does show most recent trades/prices, But when the dow trades 7.71 million like yesterday how does the ticker pick which trades it shows. It can't be showing all trades.

The top tape is the New York Stock Exchange. BFX is EURONEXT BEL-20 (Brussels) an index. The quote you show was Thursdays close the up arrow indicating how many points it was up. The bottom tape is the NASDAQ. AAPL is Apple Computer.
