Where are all the free speech supporters?

Lots of people turned out to show their support of freedom of speech when chick filet exercised their right to voice their opinion. However, another organization is now under threat of losing their voice forever. Recently, congress passed restrictions on protesting at military funerals. This is a blatantly unconstitutional move targeting the westboro baptist church.

What happened to all the freedom of speech supporters? Why is it so terrible when a restaurant that uses its profits to fund radical anti-gay organizations is boycotted but when the government stamps out free speech for the WBC nobody cares?

Protesting at our dead soldiers funerals is not a religion... like Shawn says, and I agree. The westboro baptists are a hate group. They preach nothing but hate. I'm all for free speech, but I'm not for hate groups.

I call them ''The westboro terrorists''

You don't know what Freedom of Speech actually is, do you?

There's legal speech and then there's illegal speech.

Illegal speech = defamation, slander, perjury, hate speech and etc.

Free speech is only the right to legal speech.

    That's all it's ever been.

The US government reminding the WBC of the separation between Church and State - and legal/illegal speech - is something long overdue.

If the WBC can even be called a church.

The Canadian government classified them a hate group & banned them from entering Canada.

    Jamlord,

Having government officials commenting on what others say is one thing(They have speech rights too) but threatening businesses because of what someone says is another.
