How can a 16 year old girl get physically stronger?
Hey everyone!
So I don't want to go into too much detail, but recently I was kind of/sort of attacked on my way home from school. I stayed a bit late doing volunteer stuff and when I was going home somebody tried to pull me down an alley .... Luckily there were a few guys behind me coming home from the basketball game who scared my attacker away and walked me home .... But now I'm a little paranoid and I always have to walk with someone ...
I was just wondering how a teen girl could get stronger? I know it's probably not the best way to help my situation, but it would definitely make me feel more confident.
It's something I've wanted to do for a while, and I guess it's time, haha.
So, I'm not trying to become a super athlete, but a good level of fitness would be nice ...
I'm pretty average at the moment, a little overweight according to my BMI but I like my body the way it is ... So I don't want to lose all femininity.
Diet? ------------> I've recently gone vegetarian
Exercise? I'm up for anything

Swimming is amazing for this. You just want to do some sort of cardio, and add strength training to further your results (can be weight lifting, or just body weight resistance like pushups). I'm 16 too and I've been swimming for years. It's the best. However, right now I'm doing Insanity, which is working really well too. If you just want something in home and is easy to get yourself to do, i'd suggest a DVD workout like this or P90X or something. All you do is pop in the DVD everyday.

Do you mean strong as in get muscles or as in being healthy, anyway go into many diets as possible for couple of months but also do exercise & lift some weights. If you also want to learn combat skills the top 3 best fighting techniques you should learn is brazilian jiu jitzu, krav maga, & defendu also known as the deadliest fighting technique that help won WW2. With those skills, no one will hurt you or bully you in or out of school.

You could go to a gym and learn boxing or karate, self defense - You should carry a whistle around your neck by the way, so if you see someone coming you could blow it and they will get scared and carry pepper spray, you could probably get it at any store

Yup! Excercise and maybe learn some "fighting" classes such as kung fu, tae kwan do or karate. Good luck next time! Also, carry a weapon with you such as pepper spray or a knife.
