Spiritually Speaking, do you have a "time limit" for questions you'll answer?
Do you have a personal limit on the age of the questions you'll answer? Do you skip answering interesting questions just because they've been around for more than a certain period of time?
I'm curious because I have a lot of wonderful contacts who ask interesting and delightful questions. Every day, my inbox is filled with the notices generated by these excellent questions, but I have trouble getting through all of the questions in the time I have to spend on Y!A each day, and I feel funny answering a question that is a few days old, so I'm trying to figure out the etiquette for older questions asked by contacts.
Is it silly to answer a question from a contact that is several days old, or do people generally answer right up to the wire? If you have a limit, what is it?
I'm obviously not asking the point-gamers who cheesily pounce on older questions that are about to go to voting...I'm asking regular users.
Thank you for your courteous and helpful responses!!
Thank you all so much for answering, darlings!!!! Not only have many of you been the cause of this question, but now you've also helped so much to answer it...although you've made it extremely difficult to choose a BA!!!

Like the others have said, if it's one of my contacts I'll answer it two to three days later if that's when I see it. For people I don't really know, I tend not to answer after one day.
With my questions, I leave them open for six to seven days. Because I have a few really funny contacts who only pop in once in a while, and they do answer old stuff.
For the record, you should always answer my questions. Even if there's only six hours before it expires.

I would say that I answer questions from my contacts as quickly as possible, depending upon the question. Often, by the time I get to them, a best answer has already been chosen. Like you, my dear, I have a limited amount of time I can spend here daily. For questions of fact, I usually don't answer if someone has already answered correctly. For questions of opinion, I also peruse the answers to see if people say what I intend to say. Lastly, if the question is still open and interests me, I'll answer no matter how old.

I work nights (((Auntie))),
so I'm not around when
most of my contacts are.
And yeah, my time is limited too.
I usually go through my notices
(like I'm doing now when I saw yours)
until Wayf wakes up and comes online.
Then we're off doing other things
and I delete all the unanswered ones.
I have to or I'd be overwhelmed.
There's just so many.
Yours stuck out because
you don't ask many questions,
and I wanted to say 'ola chica.. =)

I don't have the email notification setting active, I just come on here and browse through my contacts' Q&A via the "My Network Activity" page.
How old the question is doesn't really come into my consideration when deciding whether to answer or not to answer.
If I think I can contribute something to the Q or that I want to make a funny, then I go for it.

i thought about waiting a day or two to answer this....
it totally depends on the question. if it's older than a day, i usually look at the other answers and will only answer if i have something to ad or if righteous indignation compels me.
if it has over thirty answers, only righteous indignation would work.
i absolutely hate when people close questions after a few hours. there have been times when all of the questions on the list at the bottom of the page have been closed, and i'm left with no outlet for my woeful wrath. grrrrrrrr.

I do not have a time limit
and prefer to answer the questions with hidden spirituality or religiousness,
but sometimes,
it simply becomes difficult to get the time and harmony
that are required to create a good answer.

If it's a question by a contact I'll answer if it interests me no matter how long it's been posted. I sometimes don't get on here for days at a time so it's fairly common for me to answer something a day or two old.
You're welcome.

I generally only wait two or three days to gather answers to my own questions; I feel that everyone deserves to have their answer read and decided upon, without it going to vote.
As far as answering someone else's questions, the only thing that discourages me a little is when there are so many answers it's gone on to a second page. I hesitate to be the 33rd person to answer.
I've found that some of the very best answers come late, maybe the second or third day, when my contacts have had a chance to see the question. They are my contacts for a reason. They write something well-thought out and sometimes, something amusing!

LOL
DOn't by silly (((JA))) - if the question is still open, answer away. I am sure your contacts would love to hear your opinion.
Better late than never I always say.
