How many rounds per range visit?

How many rounds do you regularly go through when you get to the range? Also do you shoot for distance accuracy, speed shooting, or combative shooting? Curious what the regular amount would be for each, and how my range time compares.

I shoot every week with my dad. Generally we are each running through 250 or so rounds of .22 or more. Typically we are doing bullseye work out to 25 yards with handguns, and then moving to some sort of speed drill for 75 rounds or so.

Last week we got lucky, there happened to be some 1/8th inch rope hanging from the ceiling at 25 yards that we shot at and hit often enough to prove it wasn't luck.

If we are shooting center fire then it's about 150 rounds.

I’ll give you an average for just competition skeet shooting. I shot a three day weekend, Fri – Sun. I would shoot all four guns (.410, 28, 20 and 12) and 12 ga. doubles. That’s 500 registered targets. Any ties were shot-off as doubles; maybe another 25 to 50. I would also shot 25-50 warm-up rounds per gun. So that would be 125–200 warm-up. So for a competition weekend I’d shoot 600-750 rounds. Then during the week I’d shoot another 50 -100 practice. I no longer compete. Now when I go, I will shoot 50 -75.

I would say on average I'd like to shoot 200 per caliber. I recall one day I brought 200 rounds of .380, and 200 rounds of .45 to a range. I spent nearly 4 hours there as others came and left. Overall it was a fun time at the range but by the end of it I was a bit tired.

On average though I aim for 200 per caliber and just go with that. It's fun and it lasts you for hours. I always buy double targets, even if I'm shooting rifles. At the rifle range I like to take two double targets and staple them so there's four targets. Lasts for a very long time between times when you're to safe your weapons and people can go put new targets and I just go there and put a paper plate over ones that I already shot.

I go for accuracy at the range. I don't like doing "combative" shooting or speed shooting. I just fire one round at a time, take breath and shoot again. If someone is shooting rapidly, I just stop and wait until they use up all their ammo and walk out.

100 rnds during trap practice (12ga),

    100 - 200 S&w40 pistol practice,

    60 - 100 308 through the SCAR 17S,

About 60 through any of the bolt actions at 200 to 300 yards,

    About 100 22lr.

Usually I take 2 or 3 guns from the above list, so typically about 200 or so rounds per range session.

When I stop hitting the target (through fatigue or whatever jive excuse I make) I stop shooting - ammo's too expensive to waste on misses!

When I go to practice, I usually shoot 50 rimfire and 50 centerfire. With pistol I shoot at 25 yards. With rifles, at 50 or 100 yards. I was off during the day most of this summer, so I probably made it out 5 days per week. It adds up quick.

On the weekend, when my friends and I head out, I probably shoot 200 rounds or more.

Usually about 200 rounds...... I shoot for practical accuracy - Meaning I shoot steel plates with open sights to 100 yards as fast as I can.....

When shooting my M&P .357sig I push through 200-600 rounds

    When I shooting 1911's in

.45acp I generally push 75-125 rounds then switch

.357mag I've only pushed 100 and now it sits on the shelf

.357sig I've put in 35 rounds then got over it

.40S&W only shot 20 rounds then got over it

    9mm I'll push 75-100 then switch

    .38 super I'll push 30-60 then switch

Sig P220 by it's self I put in 200-300 rounds if it shares time with the 1911 then I'll push 75-100 rounds threw it.

Sig P250 I've pushed 2,010 rounds then I got over it

    M&P .45 I'll push 200-300 rounds unless it's sharing time with another

    M&P 9 I'll 300-500 rounds by it's self or 100rounds when I bring in my 1911

My M&P R8 gets to see a little bit of action but only 24 shots a trip.

When it comes to shooting rifles, I'll push 400-500 through my AR and 200 rounds through my 10/22 when ever they see the range.

the more guns i bring, the less i shoot out of each (don't want to pay for more than 1 hour)

typically i shoot 50 from my carry gun, and then either 20-40 from whatever long gun i bring, unless it's a .22lr in which case i'll shoot probably 100-150

Varies. 200-300 rounds. Although sometimes I use much less if I am only working with 1-2 guns.

On average 300 rounds for handgun practice, 100 rounds or less when working with my rifles.
