Pornography when I'm depressed and anxious?
Basically I've been having a tough time in my life, I turn to porn when I'm anxious and depressed, when I try to stop, I notice I don't have anything to give me that anxiety release that only is temporary, I don't know what to do

Dealing with anxiety is an art in itself. Ideally, we should all have learnt to deal with it properly when we were young with parental guidance. Sadly, many of us didn't and we ended up using other methods to distract ourselves from the actual problems at hand. Porn, sex, alcohol, eating and shopping are some of the popular ones because they provide easy and immediate gratification due to the release of dopamine. However, the problem is that you will need more intense simulation for the same amount of dopamine to be released down the road as your brain got use to it. This is the basis of addiction.
While I don't believe porn is a problem in itself, it becomes an issue when you are addicted to it. I think the best and only way to deal with it is to tackle your actual issues instead of running away from them. This is the primary reason for depression because you feel powerless to solve them. But for this to happen, you must stand your ground and face your fear and anxiety. Don't run away from them. You feel like killing yourself at first, but you will soon get use to these unpleasant feelings and will feel great about yourself again due to the sense of achievements. Simply put, avoidance is the key to feeling worthless. Hope I am making sense to you.

Meditation helped me with anxiety and depression tremendously. I would suggest Vipassana/mindfulness meditation. When I'm done I just feel so calm and peaceful. Try it.
