To think that the world doesn't revolve around me and to think the world revolves around me are both wrong. We are both revolving around each other, I can change the way world looks at me, behaves with me by some right effort and the world can do it's thing too. But really both are not independent of each other, and it won't be wrong to say the world revolves around you (or me or anyone) if understood in correct way. Correct way is, we are given what we need (not what we want) by God (or karma which ever you believe in). In that way world really revolves around us, each one of us. But in thickheaded definition where revolving around us means wanting everything to happen according to our wish, it doesn't, beievers in this need to wake up asap to avoid excess pain.

Now it would be difficult for you to read all these answers, if you want you can stop reading further after my this answer ;p

Hard to say, exactly. Can I say that there are different stages to realizing the world doesn't revolve around you? I feel like the ability to consistently be aware of the emotions and needs of people around you, and to put those needs and emotions before your own, is something that comes with maturity. I'd have to say...maybe 16...yeah, definitely about 16. Then again, I say that now-I'm sure that when I'm married, or when I have my first kid, I'll laugh at the thought that I thought I had already learned this lesson.

When I was 2 and a 1/2 my brother was born. After that I didn't want the world to revolve around me anymore. It's weird. I remember the feeling like it was yesterday. And I'm 21.

What does that even mean? I've known this since I started reading about astronomy. The world revolves around the sun.

Yes I know it's just a saying but even then I see no reason why it should be treated as something that has relevance to day-to-day life or decision-making.

I'm actually still trying to figure out that it doesn't. It's a self esteem issue for us all. Quite simply it doesn't revolve around anyone, but people with low confidence, need assurance so assume that it does.

There was this bright light... and I exited the womb!

That's when I realized the world doesn't revolve around me.

    Rappers never realize this, though.

When I was 13 so a year ago. It's funny cause I look around and see things differently after realizing this. I started to notice people who haven't yet realized this simple concept. I've heard it a thousand times but it only recently clicked.

When I was in preschool and had to walk over coals for grabbing a cookie prior to the prayer being over. I have struggled with anxiety ever since. Thankfully it is more under control the past 3 years (I'm 44). On a larger note, when we as individuals ultimately only have control of portions of our destiny, and that so much is out of our control, how can we logically believe everything revolves around us?
