What can I cook flan in?

I was told to put it in a bowl but non of mine say oven safe so what could I do I don't have many baking dishes I have a cup cake tray?

  • I use cake pans all the time. Cupcake trays work, technically speaking, but you will put a serving tray on top and flip it over when it's done, but then you have (12) mini flans/creme caramels on a single platter. If you want to serve them that way, that's ok. Individual mini creme caramels are great fancy desserts to serve at home, with some nice garnishes on the plate. If you are not aiming to make it for a large group and not wanting to break the bank, you can go to the dollar store and pick up a dozen or half a dozen ramekins, They are very useful to have at home for all sorts of desserts.

    The key to baking flan /creme caramel is to place (carefully to avoid spillage) the cake pan or ramekins filled with caramelized sugar/custard mix in another baking dish/tray with hot water- that would come halfway up the ramekins or cake pan.

    Cup cake pan is perfect than individual bowl.....
