1 AnswerSkin Conditions7 years agoDoom 3 BFG Edition Splitscreen Co-Op?
I just picked up Doom 3 BFG edition for the sole reason it is supposed to have a split screen co-op. I can't find any such setting anywhere. Does it have to be "unlocked" or some nonsense like that?

I received a painting as a gift and I'd like to have it appraised. Is there a registry or something?
1 AnswerPainting9 years agoWhy is the evil side of humanity underestimated?
No matter how many mass murders and assorted atrocities are committed throughout history there seems to be this prevailing attitude among normal people that, "If it doesn't make sense to me, why would anybody do it?" People who think like this fail to see that the depravity that leads to heinous deeds is completely without reason. The most evil humans have this all consuming desire to do as much harm to others as they possibly can. They'll invent any reason they can fathom and even manage to spread their mania like a disease. I only bring this up now, because folks by and large have this attitude that nothing horrible can happen in this day and age, because we as a race are just beyond that "phase" now. It isn't a phase to be passed and not repeated. It's a cycle, and it will be repeated.
7 AnswersPhilosophy10 years agoIs there a west coast biker gang that uses just a skull and crossbones as their symbol?
I keep seeing a lot of bikers around with a simple Skull and Crossbones (no pistons in place of bones or anything) on their backs. They don't have any other patches or rockers. They often have skull faced bandannas on.
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture10 years agoWhy does my computer keep running into problems installing updates?
I have a Toshiba Satellite using Windows 7 and for the second time since I've purchased it, it is not installing updates. It attempts to install them and then fails. It says something like, "errors found Code 643". In the past updates happened automatically and I never had to pay them any attention. Now I have to get intricately involved with my routine updates huh? This is progress? What a bunch of garbage. I don't have patients for this.
2 AnswersSecurity10 years agoHow do I maintain 1055 carbon steel?
Somebody bought me a sword made of 1055 carbon steel as a gift. I don't know what to do to keep it from turning black over the years. I left all the original oil on it and nobody is touching the metal, but the metal parts of the sheath are starting to darken.

The strength of America is dissolving and has been for a long time. Is any of this the result of conscious efforts of some faction or factions? If so then who?
7 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoWhy does youtube give you a "comment pending approval" notification when you try to comment sometimes?
If I try to comment at some stupid video that has no real significance my comments always work no problem. If I post a comment on a controversial kind of video sometimes I'll run into issues. One is a "pending approval" message. These comments are almost never approved. Another issue is the comment deal just straight up will not work sometimes (always at a video with real world implications). Who's approval am I waiting for? The posting individual? Or some anonymous PC schmuck someplace? I tell you the more I feel censored, the more I feel like some rats are going to have to rooted out of our society. I know that will never happen though, so I'll just sit back and schmoe it up.
6 AnswersYouTube1 decade agoWhy is the sky always hazy white these days?
I remember being a little kid in the 80s and the skies being almost entirely blue on sunny spring and summer days. I had to search around to see I could find any white. When I did it was always puffy well defined clouds. Today sky is mostly white with breaks and streaks of blue seen past this thin, wispy, loosely defined, white haze. My Dad thinks the sky has been this way his whole life. He is in his 50s and is also can't remember simple details about things that happened a few hours earlier.
5 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoWhy won't my computer finish this update?
My computer has been trying and failing repeatedly to install this one update. Every time I go to shut it down it sits there for five minutes trying to do the update before it just turns itself off. I don't know exactly what to do about it. Never had this problem before.
2 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoWhat do allergic reactions to soap feel like?
I never seemed to have any allergies until I was 20 (a year after receiving a litany of vaccines in basic military training which I theorize sends your immune system into hyperactive mode so it attacks all kinds of things it didn't used to react to) Now it seems I'm discovering new things I'm allergic to every year. I recently moved and I have changed my brand of showering soap and laundry detergent. My skin seems to get dry and itchy anywhere from my ankles to my neck and face randomly. Sometimes there is a little red rash. Heat definitely makes it worse. There is also a Persian cat in this house. I have not had any official allergy tests to determine my irritants.
3 AnswersAllergies1 decade agoHow much do you know that was not written, reported, or told to you by another person?
It can't be much I imagine since we spend all our time in our car, in our homes, at school, at work, or in stores. No matter what your IQ is, most of what you know has not been discovered or verified by you personally. You're always taking somebody's word for it. How many things happened in the world today of which you will be eternally oblivious? CNN, MSNBC, FOX, BBC and the others don't know either. They'll gladly give you your opinion on it though. Should the subject arise.
3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhy does humanity seem to think so highly of itself?
So we've learned all there is to know, seen all there is to see in our lofty several thousand years of civilization? Surely other aspects of reality would be known already if they existed, because we are they mighty human race! Nothing gets by us unnoticed! Personally I'm not impressed with anything we've done. There's got to be civilizations out there that make us look like howler monkeys doing tricks for globs of peanut butter.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan people with type 1 herpes on their genitals spread the virus through saliva?
Somebody just told me they have type one herpes on their genitals and a few months ago I accidentally ate a piece of chicken off their plate at a barbecue that they had already started eating then placed near my identical looking plate. Now I am looking at every bit of shaving irritation suspiciously.
