  • Can an adult take a 16 year old out of town with a parent's permission?

Someone I know was planning a trip out of town. We live in the Sacramento area and the trip was planned to go to LA. The teenage boy is the boyfriend of the adults daughter. He told his parents he was going to be staying with friends over new years because his parents dont want him dating. The fact that the mother of the girlfriend allows such behavior is beside the point. I am specifically asking about what legal trouble can the adult get into for taking the teenage boyfriend across the state (never leaving the state), without the knowledge of his parents. She invited him on the trip knowing he would be deceiving his parent to attend.

  • Would you ever pretend to be someone else?

Last night my fiancé and I were in an argument. I decide to stop communicating with her because it was going nowhere. She decided to take her 17yo daughter's phone and start texting me, pretending to be the daughter asking about which car she should drive. Then she started texting me from her phone again, upset because I was responding to her daughter and not her.

  • Is it rude to call someone when you know they are busy?

At 3:30pm I talked to my fiancé and she asked what time my softball was at, I answered 6:15pm. Later we were in a group conversation and I had mentioned to one of the participants I was going to be at the park after 5pm.

At 5:50pm my fiancé texted me, and then when I didn't respond she call me at 6:58. I answered the phone thinking it was something urgent, but she wanted to talk about what had already been handled in the earlier group text. About 90 seconds into the call I told her "I have to go, love you, bye" because I was needed out on the field.

Now she is upset and has her feelings hurt because I was "rude". I feel that she was being rude by contacting me about already handled issues, especially knowing that I was busy and wouldn't be able to talk or text while playing.

  • Why would I be slow to respond during serious conversation?

My girlfriend and I have been dealing with some very serious topics lately and she is getting upset because she feels like I am not responding to all of her feelings and concerns. I have tried to explain to her that I need to slow down the conversation, when she talks she says a few things, pauses for a minutes, then continues with more , pauses for a minute and continues, until she gets mad because I havent addressed anything. For me, when she is talking I am listening, and trying to come up with the best response, but I dont have time to come up with a response before she continues talking.

She feels like my non-responsiveness is a lack of willingness to talk or that I am not listening. She also feels that I take so long to respond because I am "filtering" my thoughts and feelings before I respond, and that if I were answering immediately that I would be giving her my true feelings, not something planned out.

Last night for example, we dropped off her kids at camp, and on the 1.5 hour drive home she started expressing to me that she is not feeling special, and that incidents in our past are causing her to wonder about how special she is to me. I was trying to come up with responses to her comments, but it was taking longer than usual, partly because I was also driving.... When we got home she was understandably upset. I asked her if we could try something different. I sat down and wrote out what I was thinking and when I tried to show it to her she got mad because I wasnt verbally expressing it to her.

I am not the type of person who is used to dealing with and expressing my emotions. I have found someone who makes me want to change that and we are at a place where communication is extremely important. I want more than anything to be able to give her what she needs (i AM willing), but when we are talking, I just cant blurt out things like she wants.

I think part of my problem is not being accustomed to sharing like this, but I feel like there is something else going on with me. I think about what she is expressing, I process it, but a lot of times I just dont have an immediate response. Sometimes I feel ADD, where I cant focus 100% on what my response should be, instead i flash through a dozen different things, from things I need to do around the house, at work, then back to the conversation, then "hey look at the moon", etc.

  • California Labor Laws regarding schedule notification?

I am being denied UI because I was fired after telling an employer I could not work a schedule they posted. My hours had been cut from 48/wk to less than 20/wk a few months previously. I was assigned a schedule of "show up at 7:30am on tues. wed. fri. and work until my work was complete, max of 8hours in a day" I was told if there was no work then I was to go home. after three and a half weeks of this schedule I was phoned on Wednesday and told a new schedule was on my desk, I retrieved the schedule thursday morning which applied to the following week. Is is legal for an employer to change a work schedule with such little notification?

  • to sue or not to sue, that is the question?

My son was bitten by a dog while visiting a friends house around the block from where we live. The 2 kids were outside playing hide and seek when the dog came out of a neighbors backyard and charged the kids who were playing on the sidewalk at the end of the driveway belonging to house where the dog lived. My wife and I are not litigous people, we are very hard working and have always earned what we have. We have decent jobs, but like 90% of the US population, we live paycheck to paycheck. If we decided to sue the money would go into our sons college fund or into a family vacation. I do not feel that I am owed anything other than the expenses that I am out due to the incident, i.e. medical expenses, loss of work, etc. But is my son due compensation for the trauma. He has been having nightmares since the incident and has missed days of school. What would you do?

  • What method do you use to perform backups?

Our tape drive has just failed for the 6th time in less than a year, the problem is that it is no longer covered under the Dell warranty. We dont want to spen $600 every couple months to keep the tape backup going. our current backups are just over 13gb and growing.

I have thought about the following options:

    rotate removeable hard drives

    offsite data service

Do you have any other ways to backup? what is your opinion?

  • What does this dream mean?

I had a dream the other night that I was called into my roommates bathroom, she was getting ready to take a bath and stripped down and got into the bath while I sat there, naked. I remember feeling inadequate because the cold bathroom had caused "shrinkage".

  • Is there a way to see where on the domain an e-mail originated? Is there a new virus I should know about?

So I checked my exchange server this morning ad it is trying to send out over 10,000 e-mail from an account "alert@bankofamerican.com", this is not an account on my server. I have relaying turned off, I have sender and recipient filtering turned on. I have even added that address as a blocked address and it is still adding new requests into the queue. How can i tell which computer ouf the 30 in our domain it is being generated on? Has anyone had an experience like this, I have Symantec Corp on each computer and I have checked that they are updating and scanning as scheduled and none show any problem. When i find the culprit computer what do I eliminate?

  • Is it odd for a 7yo to talk about suicide?

last night my son had an episode of rage, frustration, crying, screaming, etc. My wife and i think he is too old to throw fits like this. It all started when we were trying to pull one of his teeth, this is not his first, actually his third lost tooth. At first he was very compliant and seemed glad to be getting rid of the dangling tooth, after about 5 minutes he started getting upset and we were going to stop ut the floss was stuck in the roots of his tooth, and his attitude and demeaner got worse and worse. We finally got the string out and we took him to bed. My wife stayed to tuck him in and he started talking in detail about ending his life. She continued to talk to him about the family that would miss him and what he would miss out on if he went through with suicide. Is this normal thinking and behavious for a 7 year old? He is not abused, physically or mentally, his discipline has always been the removal of privlidges and in extreme cases, spanking.

  • Microsoft CRM Vs. Salesforce?

Can anyone give me comparative notes on Microsoft CRM Vs. Salesforce?

I have a customer that is currently using Salesforce, he uses AccountDynamics to interface Salesforce with Quickbooks, but AD is going out of business.

I am recommending that he switch to CRM.

Any thoughts/suggestions on how I can convince him? What are the key features that would be good to bring up in a presentation?
