7 AnswersEconomics4 years agoCan I write off gold bullion as a tax deductible in this scenario?
If I started a business that specifically focused on the niche market of selling photographs of gold coins and bars, could I write the gold bullion I'd have to buy to photo as a tax write off for this business?
Not interested in "You'll definitely throw up a red flag with that" because that's the point here. What I'm interested in knowing is if I could legally pull this off.

I want to avoid using these words in my writing. What are some others that bother you?
2 AnswersWords & Wordplay5 years agoFeminism and Political Empowerment?
As I understand, feminism seeks gender equality by focusing specifically on women s issues.
That would mean in terms of something like gender equality in the workplace, feminism might call for legislation to force hiring quotas on employers.
Would feminism also call for legislation to force a quota on the number of women that must hold political offices?
If so, would this not undermine the fabric of democracy?

4 AnswersLaw & Ethics5 years agoHow long do Supreme Court rulings stay relevant?
Example: During the 1935 Gold Clause Cases the Supreme Court ruled Congress has power expressly to prohibit and invalidate contracts, although previously made and valid when made, when they interfere with carrying out any monetary policy Congress is free to adopt.
These "contracts" the ruling refers to are the gold certificates still held by the Federal Reserve today. My question is how long will that 1935 Supreme Court ruling be relevant as the exact contracts ruled on are still in existence?

If the citizen's arrest is not legitimate, then it would seem to me that the arrestor is guilty of battery. Am I wrong on this?

5 AnswersOther - Society & Culture5 years agoWhy do I trust people less as I get older?
I'm 38. And every year I get older I find myself less and less trusting of people. And by that I generally mean, I'm expecting more and more people to try to take advantage of me in one way or another, i.e. through lying or any other kind of deception.
Is this something everyone experiences as they get older?
Perhaps people really have become more self-serving? I mean, that's what it feels like to me. But I've been wrong in the past, and will be wrong again in the future.

3 AnswersPsychology5 years agoAm I a jerk?
I don't treat people politely because I'm not treated politely by other people on a daily...no, an hourly....basis. Does that make me a jerk? Do people think that I should be the one to make the first polite move? If people were more polite to me, I would absolutely be more polite to them. But most people are all self-serving. Why be polite? MOREOVER, how do I know that a stranger isn't my enemy? How do I know that if I'm polite or help a stranger in anyway, that they won't turn around to use that help to hurt me? Human beings have set a hundred thousand year precedent for being self-serving. Why do people expect me specifically to go out of my way to help anyone else when everyone else is only focused on themselves.

In the Disney/Pixar film Inside Out, the character Disgust is said to "prevent Riley from getting poisoned — both physically and socially."
What do you think is meant by 'social poisoning'?
Has anyone interpreted this social poisoning as alternative lifestyles or political/social views that don't conform to the status quo majority?
What do you think Disney really trying to say with this character?
