My boyfriend recently left me and, sparing all details, it was a bit of a shocker. Over the course of the relationship, he'd given me a promise ring because I wasn't myself ready for an engagement (I know, promise rings are a bit juvenile, but I'm the one that had the commitment-phobia). At one point, when things were fine between us, it randomly came up in conversation what would happen to the ring. He said that it was a gift to me from him, and it would upset him to get it back. Now, I don't have any reason for the ring, it was a promise from him, and I'm painfully reminded of his broken promise every time I see it. We've had no contact, and I'm mailing the rest of his stuff to him. This hasn't been a messy breakup, no nasty words, shouting matches, etc. It just ended. My goal isn't to hurt him by giving the ring back, I just don't know what to do with it myself.

I'm an International Affairs major, and I've already got two semesters of Farsi under my belt. However, my professor is switching to all-Farsi next semester, and I still don't feel comfortable enough in the language. The catch: I need four semesters of a language, and I want to work in the middle east after grad school. As a non-native speaker of either language, with fluency in spanish, what would some of the language buffs recommend? *As a side note, I am aware or the syntax-ical similarities of the language, so I'm looking more from a difficulty to maintain or learn angle. Same song and dance, my iPhone 3gs went for a swim. I dried it out (at least I thought) completely. It sat in front of a fan for a total of 24 hours and air dried for another 14. Today, I plugged it in and it was taking a charge. Pretty soon, it was fully functional. I unplugged it, and in the minute that I unplugged it and sat down it seems to have died. Black screen, no response. It won't respond to my computer or wall charger. Did it short circuit? Is it definitely gone? ]

Okay, so I've got the body-mod itch, and I don't have the money atm for a new tatt. I am thinking about getting a tragus or a madison, via dermal anchor. the studio that I've gotten both my nose piercing and tattoo charges a flat rate for the piercing, but I'm not too sure about the dermal prices. anyway, about how much does each piece hurt? like I said, I've got my left nostril done, and a fairly large piece on my right shoulder blade; I'd say I have a very high tolerance to pain. so on a scale of the prick with a needle to a 'wtf just got me' does each hurt?

My 7 year old male cat (indoor/outdoor) has recently been losing fur around his hind quarters, and this morning while petting him, a large chunk of fur came out, and he has a completely bald spot on his forehead. He was losing fur earlier this year, and I switched his diet, so that he was eating a high protein food. His fur came back almost immediately. Recently, he has not been over-grooming, at least that I've noticed, and he hasn't had any obvious scratching. Since the season is changing, and it's getting cooler, I want to fix this unnecessary shedding, before it gets really bad. Any clues as to what this could be or how to solve the problem?

I've checked for new software to my Mac-run iPod(30-gig 4th gen.), and I'm up-to-date. For some odd reason, the movie I rented from iTunes won't get copied over to the iPod. Any suggestions?

I have fair skin, and I burn pretty easily. That being said, I cannot tan to save my life. Also, because I burn easily, I only wear shorts when I go to the gym, and my legs are slightly paler(my upper body gets sun, so I'm only slightly darker, but not transparent). What might be some good sunless tanners that don't look fake, don't get very splotchy, and would only give me something light?

Recently, my cat stopped eating, so I took him to the vet. They didn't find anything wrong with him, but gave him some anti-biotics. He's eating again, and is pretty much back to himself. One thing I've noticed though, are his eye-membrane, inner-lid things. Normally they're hidden, and I've only seen them like this after he was anesthetized for surgery once, but now they're always out, and I'm not sure why. Any reasons for it, and should he be taken back to the vet?

My cell phone will not let me make calls. It gives me a message that says "emergency only" and just goes back to the main screen. I tried turning it off, taking out an re-inserting the SIM card, and turning it back on, but that didn't work. I'm in full signal. Any other suggestions BEFORE I call customer service?

here's the deal: I'm a young Marxist, and I own a Che Guevara shirt. Che is one of my heroes, and I do know what some people think of him.
