Ford Escape rear end jumps up when shifting cold?
I have a 2009 Escape with the automatic 4wd. It's in 4wd when taking off, otherwise it's only on when it needs to be.
ONLY when the transmission is cold, it always revs higher in 2nd gear, holds it for a second, and when it shifts into 3rd gear the rear end jumps up and feels like it rolls forward.
I've checked the differential, driveshaft and ujoints.. The transmission is in good shape. All fluids are routinely changed. nobody seems to know what could be wrong.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs4 years agoCan Clogged Heater Core Prevent Coolant From Reaching Temp?
I have had 3 coolant flushes after seeing rust gunk in the reservoir. I had an OEM thermostat replacement, new coolant reservoir and cap (no radiator cap on this car) and water pump. Pressure tested as well. I was told when the t-stat was replaced that the heater core was no good.
My heat is weak, the car takes longer than it should to warm up. The coolant temp gauge rests BEFORE the middle since last month, it has always quickly moved to the middle before this.
Before I blow more money on it, could the heater core or radiator cause the cooling system to run too COLD? Engine seems/feels like it's in operating temp. Reservoir is also not pressurized very much. Before new water pump it was cold and had no pressure.
Can someone please help me fix this problem?
Maintenance & Repairs6 years agoYellow Orb In Eerie Place, Caution?
My house is over 200 years old. I found a hole in a floor under a rug and decided to take pictures under it, just thinking I'd find very old construction methods: squared iron nails, actual tree logs for beams etc. I found those but also a secret room that looks like it's had a new lower ceiling, and they left the top portion. Under the insulation is a new sheetrock ceiling which is my neighbors.
On the top right, I found a light yellow orb in the photo. I've taken a picture there several times again and can't get it to appear. I found that yellow means caution, but about what? Should I be cautious about it or does that mean I should be cautious about anything? My bathroom which is next to the closet I'm afraid of. I can't go in there without feeling threatened and watched.
I also read it can mean you're developing or discovering psychic abilities. It appears to be lighter yellow so maybe it's not "caution"?

2 AnswersSecurity7 years agoWill another winter make the rust on my car worse?
I have a small rust hole in the sub frame. I cannot afford to fix it this winter, so I'm wondering if one more salty winter will make it worse or not affect it very much. I probably won't have it by spring, so I'm not looking to use POR15 or anything on it.
*Roads are very salty here.

2 AnswersFord8 years agoAVG Finds Rootkits Scan After Scan?
I downloaded Avg 2013 after my computer has been freezing and not working lately. Trend Micro didn't work during a scan, AVG freezes around 50-90%. I have to do a hard shut down if I don't stop the scan once it finds a bunch of threats. RIGHT when I start scan, it finds at least 4 rootkits- "hooked import" files.
I can't let it finish the scan because it will freeze, so I click Stop-Address Issues-Remove All. I've done this 25 times and EACH time it finds 4-8 of these different hookedimport's. Should I keep doing it? I don't believe they're false findings because it will freeze if I let it keep scanning and it only finds them the first 20% of the scan.
I restart the computer to remove them after a while.
It has already Vaulted several viruses and no more are coming up, just these ataports and they don't go in the virus vault. Any ideas?!

1 AnswerPlayStation8 years agoWhats this old horror movie with black dog?
When I was little I watched a horror movie from the 80s or early 90s and I've never been able to figure out what it was. Here's what I remember:
It may or may not be a big house on or near a ledge to the ocean, there's a full moon at some point, this guy wakes up in the middle of a night next to his sleeping (wife?) I think during a thunderstorm and gets out of bed and he hears growling. He goes into the hallway and there's an evil black dog growling at him. But wait! They don't have a dog! I can't remember if it chases him or not but it scared me a lot when I was little.
I used to think it was Pet Sematary but it isn't and it's not Cujo, as far as I know it's not very popular. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
2 AnswersMovies8 years agoWindows Vista Goes To Sleep When Battery Level Is Low?
I have a Gateway M-Series laptop, bought new in 2010 with windows vista home premium.
Over time my battery has basically become useless, sometimes it'll last 90 minutes unplugged (but say its dying) and other times it'll last 10 minutes and not say it was dying. Anyway, I have it set to NEVER sleep on any setting plugged in or unplugged. When my battery becomes low my laptop will go to sleep with no warning. I have to wait for it to shut the lights off and then press the power button to wake it back up.
Is there anything I can do to make it stop doing this? It started doing this a few months ago and I never changed anything
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks9 years agoWhat is this concrete slab design found in forest?
I found this odd concrete slab with these circles in it. It was buried lightly in the ground, there's also a wide random deep hole at the edge of a cliff followed by with what looks like a trench going down a long hill near it, it's been there a long time as well and there is a random, small rock wall that's almost buried. I found it near all this but it's so far into the woods on a mountain that it grabbed my interest. I want to know if anyone knows what this is i.e an old way of building a structure?

3 AnswersGarden & Landscape9 years agoInterior Wall Structure of 1800's Houses? Historians?
Open the picture first. What was this type of wall called? I know they used it on Victorian houses from the 1800s (possibly earlier) but I'd like to know what all the little boards running across the beams inside the interior walls are called. My house was built 1922 and the inside of the walls are hollow, few beams and no wood running across it. So I thought this type of structure wasn't used after 1921, and gradually house structures became very cheap. But in a house I'm moving into from the 1800s, I noticed during renovations that it had the small boards lining across the inside of the drywall.
Can someone tell me what this woodwork is called and from what era? This is the only picture I can find and it's of a damaged wall interior.
5 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling9 years agoVery Intense Persistant Foot Itch?
For at least two weeks now, only late at night, the bottoms of my feet itch insanely.
Not my toes or in between. I have used keys, bottle caps, hair brushes etc but nothing will cure the itching. I used to get if often a while ago but soaking them in hot water used to fix it but it doesn't anymore. I've had the same shoes for years and don't walk without socks. (feet always cold from thyroid issues) My feet are not overly dry or wet. There is no visible rash or anything abnormal. I can't figure this out and don't know what to try. I have sprayed generous amounts of itch relief spray with zero results.
I don't have health insurance so a doctors visit is not possible. Can anyone help diagnose whats going on?
Skin Conditions9 years agoLaptop Battery Says It's Dying For An Hour?
I have a Gateway M-Series Laptop with the standard Li-Ion battery. It is about 3 years old. Here's the issue. I've calibrated the battery several times (letting it die and charging it fully) I've tried using it when charging and leaving it off when charging with no difference. I even installed BatteryBar. Both Battery Bar and my laptop say it's at 0 minutes/1% for about an hour or so. So basically I can never trust it and it's inconvenient not knowing how long I can use it unplugged.
Also, the blue lights on the laptop (Fn+F1 to turn them on/off) they don't shut off when its "dying" which uses more power? Interesting. Thanks for any advice!
2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks9 years agoHow To Stop Rabbit From Biting?
I have a mini rex rabbit. I am not new to them, my previous rex was 100% perfect, never bit, litter box trained with no effort, playful, smart etc.
Well, my new mini rex, actually 1/4 Norwegian Dwarf, a little over a year old, bites all the time.
I recently put my hand in the cage to pat him and he bit my finger so bad that it's still bleeding (an hour later). I can't have him run around me because he will ALWAYS nip everybody, even me. It hurts and I'm afraid of him so I can't even play with him because i have to stay away from him.
Any suggestions? I don't want to have to give up on him but compared to my old mini rex who was killed two years ago, my new one is a complete pest and nuisance.
5 AnswersOther - Pets9 years agoGrowing a Willow Tree, Sheltered From Winter, Need Help?
Last summer I found a lot of big willow trees in a swamp. I've always wanted one (I think they look cool) and I do have a green thumb so I cut off some branches, put the cluster in a container of water and used the only two that grew roots and planted them in the container (using wet dirt, of course) and they grew very well.
The leaves fell in the fall (October) and it stayed dormant...until last month because I kept it in a semi-heated portion of the house, away from snow. It can get down to -10 F during winter, it never got below 32 where I kept it.
The trees here dont grow until about mid-April. This grew leaves slowly, starting a month ago at least because it was in a window where the sun was semi-warm for a good part of the day.
Is this going to screw up its growing pattern? I can't keep it indoors much longer. I'm afraid when I keep it outside in a few weeks it'll screw it up somehow at the end of the summer.
In a way, I think I made it "think", if you will, that it was growing in, say, North Carolina, where the winters aren't as harsh. I'm going to plant it soon, is it going to die next winter?
2 AnswersBotany9 years agoRemoving Insulation Without Protection-Aching?
I've been removing insulation panels in the walls and attic (ceiling) of a 16 year old house for more than a week. I have been using my shirt to block my nose at times however this usually didn't help. I would walk away with a sore throat and nose and would cough quite a bit. No blood though.
After that, today, my jaw started to hurt like after you get a tetanus or flu shot. This is the same with my head. I have (a little too late) decided not to keep doing this now that I realize how much it is affecting me.
I am wondering if I just submitted myself a chance of a health issue. I didn't smell asbestos nor do I believe the house has any. Is this a normal reaction the body has? What could be happening?
The house and insulation is only 16 years old and the brand is Owens Corning if that matters.
4 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)10 years agoItchy Feet After Walking Barefoot Outside?
Every single time I walk outside barefoot, whether it's five minutes or an hour,
on sand, dirt, rocks or grass, wet or dry, my feet will itch unbearably soon after and won't stop unless
I soak them in hot water and scrub them.
Even then, that sometimes doesn't work.
I barely ever walk outside without socks or shoes and this is why.
I do not have athlete's foot or any fungal infection as it only occurs after walking outside barefoot.
There are no bumps or any sign of anything except redness where I've been scratching.
Can someone please tell me what is going on?!
