  • How do I apply to add a child to my Social Security Disability benefits?

My wife gave birth to our daughter in March and I am collecting disability. I called to set up an appointment and they sent a letter saying that I could apply online. They gave no explanation of what application to fill out and I have searched for over an hour on the site, unable to find how to do this. I can find plenty of information explaining the benefits, but nothing on the ACTUAL application I need to fill out.

  • Private disability settlement after bankruptcy?

I am 33 and just got approved for SSI disability after being on private disability through Prudential for over 3 years. I ran up a huge amount on my credit cards from medical expenses. (nearing $100,000) I am filing bankrupcy because there is no way I can pay this debt off. My question is, if I file bankruptcy and get offered a settlement from Prudential (not taking anything below $250,000), will the courts come after that money? Any advice on disability settlements would also be very helpful. For example, should I get an attorney since I figure they would take a large portion of my settlement?

  • SSI back pay repaid to Long Term Disability ?

I was disabled in May 2010 and received FMLA, short term, and long term disability. I recently won my SSI disability case. I know about having to pay back Prudential, my LTD provider. Will my entire back pay go to them or just the amount made since being on LTD? Obviously, in my position, I need as much help financially as possible so I'm hoping I can hang onto something at least.

  • Chronic Pain & Methadone Withdraw?

I'm the lucky guy who has had 3 failed back surgeries. Methadone was like a miracle and a curse wrapped in one little pill. It helped the pain better than anything, but I gained 50 lbs of water weight. I've been trying to detox and switch to Nucynta and Marinol, along with Gabapentine, Tizanadine, and other little helper drugs like that. If you've ever had nerve pain in both your legs, feet, and up to your middle back, then tried to come off of pain meds, feeling like your muscles are trying to crawl out of your skin, then you know a little about what I'm dealing with tonight. This is sick. Can anyone offer any pointers? I'd gone 2 days of sheer hell and finally I had to take 2.5 mgs tonight just to stop the crawling and needles in my muscles.

Also, I'm very muscular and have been working out in a pool. My muscles are so tight now that I can feel them constricting my nerves like a snake killing its prey. Is it smart to work out during this withdraw? I thought it might help, but it seems to be making things much worse. Actually, everything is like a fresh hell right now, even with the 2.5 mgs.

Any help or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to get Meet and Greet tickets for Jimmy Buffett?

I am a lifelong Parrothead and was wondering how to come across meet and greet (backstage passes) tickets for his show?? How expensive are they and how do you get them. I was mainly wondering about Bristow VA in Aug., but any info would be helpful. Are they ever even sold? I've certainly never seen them and I've sat in the VIP section before. Thanks...

  • Silver state quarter finish vs. U.S. Territory?

I was wondering if the silver state quarter finish was different than the U.S. territory quarters?? I have some of each and the Territory quarters look like more of a cameo, satin finish. The edges of the quarters are both silver color and the state quarters definitely are proof quality, but I want to be absolutely certain that they are not silver clad. The weight is the same but my scale doesn't do fractions of grams.

  • Malpractice Lawsuit for Fertility Issue?

I was prescribed Testim for low testosterone while being treated for back issues at a pain clinic. The head doctor prescribed it after a basic lab without saying anything about infertility. Meanwhile, my wife and I have been trying for a baby. My current doctor told me that the Testim most likely caused a low sperm count. I have had 2 sperm counts done and my sperm count is too low to preform the test. Is this a case where a medical malpractice suit may be an option? The prescribing doctor worked in a pain clinic so he probably had no idea what he was doing. At this point adoption is something we would want since we can't have a child and I have massive debt built up from 3 back surgeries.

  • Credit settlement or bankruptcy?

3 years ago I was put on medical leave from my work. I was lucky to have disability insurance because, after 3 failed back surgeries, I will have trouble working any regular job again. Due to tremendous expenses from surgeries that I put all on credit card along with many other health related problems, I ran up about $50,000+ in debt. I did start buying and selling on Ebay and I'm now making money at it & can keep up with my payment just barely. With my wife working odd jobs (cleaning & pet sitting), we struggle but have kept up on the payments, but they are all reaching their limits.

I have only ever made one late payment (never got the online statement) and I do have one unpaid expense from a sleep apnea equipment company (stay away from Palmetto Oxygen, Medbridge Home Medical, Sleep Works, or whatever they call themselves this month) of about $1100. I was told I would not be billed but didn't get it in writing. I have no idea yet whether or not it is on my credit score, but that is all going down soon anyway because I can't keep this up. I go to my Social Security disability hearing soon and it will not effect my income (can't get any more than what disability insurance already pays me) but it will save me a good bit on health insurance. Cobra is a huge reason for my debt as it was $1000 a month for the first 18 months.

I'm very sorry for my long summary. I wanted to make it as detailed as possible but not ramble. My main question is about where to go from here. Do I stop paying my cards and try to settle my debts, (I will have at least $1200 more a month without the payments, but most likely more than that.) or do I file bankruptcy? I have researched a little on the subject and it seems the credit payoff may have more advantages. Either way I go, I don't know what to expect.

Let me know if any other info can help. I have $34,000 in an IRA and my wife has $6000 in a ROTH IRA. I have around $12,000 in silver and a few thousand in other collectables & I am doing well flipping a few things on Ebay. It is sustaining me with my disability and wife's income. Also, none of my extra income is taxed. I also read that disability income can't be garnished in bankruptcy court. I bought my house for $134,000 in 2005 and I have almost no equity in it.

  • Strange feeling in the evening intensified by drugs?

For a while now I have had an achy, strange feeling in the evening and into the night that is effected greatly by my pain medication. I am 33 years old andI have had several failed back surgeries and am a chronic pain patient, but this has been going on for longer than the back pain. I get bad aches and pains, mainly in my legs which is intensified by the nerve pain from my failed back surgeries, and then I take methadone or Marinol (synthetic THC) and I get very loopy. I often feel nothing from the Marinol except these evenings when I have this strange feeling. On these evenings I have an intensely high feeling and I stumble on my words. It is only certain evenings this happens but it seems worse in the Winter when the weather is cold, although it happens all times of the year.

  • Where to get snowfall Christmas lights?

Does anyone know where to get the Christmas lights that look like they are snow falling? I have researched and I know the tube lights look the best but they are over $100 for just one string. Do any icicle lights work for this effect? I see shooting star effect lights and I don't know if it's the same. Also the melting effect? If anyone knows a cheap way to get these and where the best place to find them is, I would greatly appreciate it. Merry Christmas!!

  • Selling sterling silver silverware set?

I have 2 Westmorland 60 piece silverware sets that have been handed down to me. Since I am out of work, my parents said that I should sell them now with the silver prices being so high. I am wondering whether I should sell them to be melted down or to a collector?

  • Liberals, are you okay with GE paying no taxes?

GE didn't pay one dime in taxes last year, yet liberals keep saying that the rich don't pay enough. I guess that only applies to the businesses that aren't in the pockets of the democrats. Also, were all you liberals aware that GE is the company who is first in line to build Obama's high speed rails? It reminds me of BP who rarely contributed any money to politicians until they gave almost a million to Obama in exchange for lax safety regulations. That really worked out well. Of course, it is only republicans that are in bed with big oil.

  • Depression after back injury?

I had degenerative disc disease that required a 2 level spinal fusion in Sept. The surgery was mostly unsuccessful because I still have horrible pain in one of my legs. I am due for another surgery March 14 (2 days from when I am writing this).

I used to be very active and had a good job that allowed my wife and I to travel and have a lot of fun. Now I can't even go out without being miserable and we are on the verge of bankruptcy due to medical costs and my huge loss of income. I have slipped into a deep depression during this time because I know my wife is not happy and my doctor told me I would never be able to go back to my old job and will possibly be permanently disabled. On top of all of this, my wife and I planned on trying for a baby this year but we can't even afford to pay for ourselves, let alone a child. The only hope I have in my life is possibly getting my fiction novel published when I finish it, but that is a long process and it is a long shot to get published.

Does anyone have any advice for me as to way to cope with this situation? I don't want to lose everything, including my wife but i don't want her to be miserable with me either. Please help.

  • Your thoughts on Democrat interests?

Democrats support Muslims, Gays, Abortion, Minorities, Jews and women's interest groups.

Muslims are against gays, abortion, Jews and women's rights.

Minorities generally oppose gays and abortion.

Jews are usually opposed Muslims who want to kill them.

Really, the contradictions are endless. I submit that the Democrats are based on interest groups, lies and bribes. What say you? This should be good.

  • Failed spinal fusion questions?

I had a spinal fusion in Sept. 2010 and my right leg is still in great pain. I'm having another surgery next month (March) to see if it is permanent nerve damage or scar tissue causing this pain. Either way their is not any treatments other than a spinal stimulator and pain medication. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen. Also, can anyone tell me about the spinal stimulator. I am thinking of not getting it put in because I have other health problems and would not be able to get an MRI afterward.

Finally, I would like to know if anyone has gotten SS disability for this problem, or even if they would approve it. I can't sit, stand, or do anything for any extended period of time except sit in my recliner or lay in bed. I am currently receiving disability insurance from my job but I am terrified that when my COBRA runs out I will not qualify for any affordable insurance. Any advise on this subject would be of great help.

  • I am interested in hosting a website. Any suggestions?

I think I have a good idea for a website and would like someones input on what sites are good for site building software at a reasonable price.I am hoping to draw a lot of traffic but it would be kind of a wait and see thing. I have used Hostway in the past and are not crazy about their design options. I am not savvy enough to use Frontpage, although I plan on studying it for future use. A site that is user friendly and can hold moderate traffic would be ideal.
