  • What kind of fish is this?

It sits on its pectoral fins and stays at the bottom. I don't know what it is but I thought it looked pretty cool. Freshwater.

  • Zebra Danios in with Blue/Gold Gouramis?

I have 11 Zebra Danios that range in size from 1 inch to 2 inch and I'm wondering if they'd be okay to transfer into my 50 gallon tank with 5 Blue/Gold Gouramis who get along with each other. There are also 3 juvi YoYo Loaches in the tank if that matters.

I've researched and some say the Danio's speed might stress the gourami. But other sites tell me that Danios are actually great tankmates for gourami.

    Any thoughts?

  • Overstocked fish tanks?

Help me balance these two fish tanks stockwise and compatibility wise. Thanks!

    60 gallon tank current residents

    11 black neons tetra

    8 glowlite tetra

    4 cardinal tetra

    12 skirt tetra

    11 danio

    2 honey gouraimi

    1 pristella tetra

3 seprae red long skirt tetra

    50 gallon current residents

    1 gold gour

    4 blue gour

    1 tiger barb

    1 glass fish

    1 red eye tetra

    4 scissor rasbora

    1 rosefin rasbora

If I am overstocked which ones do you recommend to move to a third tank.

PS I did not buy the shoaling species as one fish. I adopted them from friends and family who only had one fish left in their dying tanks and asked me to care for them since they were 'done with fish'.

  • Nano Reef Advice... Got some?

I want to try to do it all natural filtering thru the live sand and live rock. I've read about it and it sounded ideal! I've never done saltwater so you can slap me if this sounds horrible.

I've got a 18 Gallon Bowfront tank so its about the size of a 10 gallon with 8 more from from being taller as well.

    My questions are...

    1) How many pounds of Live Sand and Live Rock would be essential/recommended for an all natural filtering system in a tank size this big?

    2) Will I be able to add interesting 'softies' and/or other interesting live plants/coral to this?

    3) How many fish and/or other types of livestock can live comfortably in it? Suggestions for cool looking ones? I like the Fire Golbi(sp?).

    4) Do you recommend any salt brand for the saltwater?

  • How big a fish tank do I need?

    Here is the stock list:

    2 Ryukins Goldfish

    2 Ranchu Goldfish

    1 Black Moor Goldfish

They are all about 3 to 4 inches from gill to beginning of tail. I was estimating a 60 gallon would be enough but I think as far as space I have for my tank I'm limited to a 40. Would a more vertical tank make up for that? I know surface area is important but with goldfish I know having lots of gallons is equally important because of the amount of waste produced.

  • Is my aquarium overstocked?

I've got a 60 gallon long/wide aquarium. It is fully planted and almost double filtered with nerite/trumpet snails for cleaning.

    Here is my stock list:

    7 Skirt Tetra

    11 Danios

    5 Glowlite Tetra

    3 Cardinal Tetra

I'm asking because my brother would like to rehome his 6 black neon tetra into my community tank and I didn't want to do it unless it was wise. I think I'm close to my stock cap or maybe even over. I just wanted to get several opinions on the matter before I decide!

  • What kind of fish is this?

I was thinking perhaps a rasbora of sorts? But if anyone knows better or more specifically what type of rasbora if it is... Let me know. Thanks!

  • How big a fish tank does my fish need?

He is a black moor with a body about as big as a small avocado. Maybe a good 3 inches in length(not counting his flowing tail length).

He's sharing a 60 gallon with tetras but I think he needs his own tank. He doesn't seem to mind the heater but I know this is not ideal for him so that's one reason. Another reason is he keeps digging up the plants out of the substrate so I plan to have his tank look more fun(artificial) and less natural.

So how many gallons do you think he needs?

  • My stovetop constantly clicks/sparks trying to light. What should I do?

The only way to stop it from making the annoying clicking sound is to unplug it. All 4 burners do it.

I've been asked to clean the burners as much as possible but are there other things I could try to fix this problem?

Is it possible I have to replace my "spark module" like some have told me?

  • What book would you say displays human nature in a good light?

I'd rather it be a classic of sorts.... something that's familiar to people. If you feel up to it, give me a book that also displays bad human nature.

  • Are Zero Calorie Energy Drinks beneficial to exercising?

I've found I can run longer, train harder and flat-out do more in the gym if I down a Lo-Carb MONSTER Energy drink an hour before.

But I'm curious if this actually helps or hurts with burning calories, building muscle or my cardio. Since it has such profound effects I'm wondering if its actually not helping at all or hurts in one area and helps in another.

I'd appreciate answers from nutritionists, doctors, nurses and anyone who's has experience with Energy drinks and exercising. Anyone else who wants to answer can have a go at it too but please state if why you're answer is better than others'.

  • What age should I start bringing my kid to the theater?

Knowing that he'll enjoy it, not make a fuss and actually sit down for 2 hours to watch.

I know its more of a maturity or behavior thing.... but I'm more looking for a general age from everyone. I'm just curious when you felt your kid was ready so I have an idea.

  • What makes a fruit a fruit and a vegatable a vegatable?

My coworkers say Fruits come from trees and Vegetables come from the ground & vines. Is this enough to discern between the two? Are there exceptions? I thought tomatoes were supposed to be in the middle for some odd reason.

Furthermore, what about a bush? And do you know anything we eat that comes from bushes?

  • The water pressure in one of my faucets is really bad. Help?

No matter which way I turn the valves under the sink that connect to the faucet. it doesn't seem to help. Could it be that the valves are broken? Or is the faucet? Or something worse?
