HAPPILY MARRIED, so don't even think about it! Just here to kill some time, have some laughs, and answer some damn questions.
What do you buy for a great teacher who is retiring? (from a former, and now older student)?
My junior high English teacher is retiring, and I want to give her a gift, but I'm not sure what to get. She was a GREAT teacher, and inspired me to pursue a teaching career as a high school English teacher. (I ended up running our hometown newspaper instead, but I hope to teach a journalism class part-time at our school in a few years.) She encouraged my creativity which in turn allows me to do what I do today at the newspaper. She's in her 50s; I'm 25, if that makes a difference....

Looking for anyone who has stayed at a B&B in Tombstone, AZ. Where did you stay, and what did you think? My husband and I are thinking about going, but would like to hear some feedback on some B&B's before we book. There are no reviews on tripadvisor.com for B&B's in Tombstone, so we're stuck. Thanks!
4 AnswersPhoenix1 decade agoWhat do you call someone who has lived 100 years?
I'm writing an article on a woman who is celebrating her 100th birthday this weekend. I thought the correct word was "centurian" or something to that effect. All the thesarus gave me was "centurion" which is "an officer commanding a Roman century." What word could I use? Example: Town gains another _____.
10 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhat is the best method to wallpaper with newspaper?
I recently bought my hometown newspaper business and I want to "wallpaper" the walls using copies of our newspaper. Has anyone had any personal experience with this that can give me any tips? Yes, I know newspaper yellows, blah blah blah. Our hometown paper is 119 years old, so if the "wallpaper" yellows and looks dated, that's fine with me as long as we can seal it effectively. Tips and suggestions only, please, NOT your personal opinion of the project. (This question has been asked before by someone else, and most answers consisted of criticism. Not very helpful...)
Thanks!
3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoHow do I make a "bath tub" for two small kids (ages 14 months & 27 months) in a walk-in handicap shower?
I just moved into a house that has no bath tub, just a walk-in handicap shower. My two little ones HATE showers, so I need to find a way to give them baths. I can't think of anything other than setting a plastic storage tub in there, but there HAS to be a better way. Is there a product that will convert this shower into a small tub? Or do you have an ideas on how I can accomplish this?
11 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoPrizes/reward ideas for Jr. High & High Schoolers contributing to local newspaper?
I own our hometown newspaper, and we're starting a program to encourage junior high and high school students to contribute articles and photos. We are planning to award points for each submission, based on how we used the article or photo. (Top points for front page, lesser points for other pages or website use.) Our plan is to let the kids "cash in" their points for prizes -OR- have specific prizes at certain point levels. What can we offer as prizes that would appeal to this age group and might also tie in with journalism and photography?
NOTE: We are a VERY small town paper. (Our population is 1,300.) We don't have a big budget, and we are having fundraisers to help get a seperate account going for this program, but can't afford a lot of expensive prizes. Maybe one or two for top performers at the end of the year. (Like a digital camera.) We just want to have some incentive to get the kids involved in our hometown paper.

5 AnswersOther - News & Events2 decades agoWhat is your secret food addiction that some people would consider weird or gross?
As a kid, I discovered dipping fries in chocolate shakes made for one awesomely salty/sweet combo, even though my brother told me it was disgusting. The best is Wendy's, because their frosties are thicker and adhere better, and the fries are sturdy enough to support it. Over the years, I have had other people confess that they love it too, but mostly did it in private to avoid grossing people out.

14 AnswersOther - Food & Drink2 decades agoWhat is the weirdest pregnancy food craving you've ever had or witnessed?
I craved steaming hot beef stew in the sweltering summer heat. We had it at least twice a week in July and August. UGH!
When my best friend was pregnant, she concocted a dessert that consisted of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream with Nacho Cheese Doritos crushed on top. If the flavor combo didn't get you, the color combo did!
14 AnswersPregnancy2 decades agoWhy is Internet Explorer shutting down when I type in a web address?
If I type in a website into the address bar, an error box pops up (Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.), and then it will shut down just that browser window. If I have multiple browsers open, it will not affect them. This only happens when I type in the address. If I click on a link, or select a page saved in my favorites list, it will work just fine. Why is this happening, and how do I correct it?

7 AnswersFamily2 decades agoShould Y!A use a Best Answer percentage as a factor in the Leaderboard? (details...)?
...Or at least list it on a user's Y!A profile?
Would it tell you more about what kind of answers the user gives?
I'm just a little sick of seeing people who answer questions with "i don't know" or "whatever" or other non-answers that have a ton of points, all without ever giving decent answers. (Yes, I know about the "Report Abuse" button, but it doesn't seem to stop these people if they're not being rude or profane.)
For example, there is one person near the top with a whopping 45% Best Answer average, and right below, someone who only has 6%. I say why bother having points in the first place, but if you're gonna do it, it needs to be a bit more rooted on quality of answers, not quantity.
What is your opinion of Best Answer averages? Would you like to share your average with the rest of the class? ;)
(average= # of Best Answers multiplied by 100, then divided by number of total answers)
7 AnswersYahoo Answers2 decades agoHow do you "develop a taste for" wine or beer? What are good ones to start with? Read details...?
I have yet to find a wine that I can enjoy because I just can't stand the taste. I have the same problem with beer, which is frustrating because that means I spend WAY too much money on fancy mixed drinks instead. Or I'm always in the kitchen concocting my beverage while our guests are enjoying their wine or longnecks. Or I'm throwing back shots and dancing on the table before anyone else has their buzz on. LOL
So, what are some wines and beers I can try that will appeal to my pickyness? I have a pretty high alcohol tolerance, so that's not a factor. I just need something that tastes good to me and that I can enjoy without spending the evening with my face looking like I'm drinking gasoline.
