Have you ever worked for sites of this kind ? What do you think ? Is this site fraud like many other sites which only claim to be genuine but are not ? Can you suggest a better site where I can work in part time ? I live in New Delhi, India.

I installed old version of free AVG antivirus 7.5 because my PC is also old, with WIN-98 SE. It was written on site that it will get updates. But the antivirus is not updating itself. What could be the reason ? Can I install some other version on WIN-98 SE which can be updated also ?

.....the Doctor said that the distance between lens and retina is more than 24 mm (25-26 mm) and so her eyesight is weak. He recommended wearing Glasses and said that there is no other solution to this problem. I was surprised that my kid actually had weak eyesight although she regularly eats good, healthy, nutritiuos food with fruits & vegetables. She has no other disease. She only sufferes with one problem - Tonsilitis. She catches cold and sore throat very easily whenever weather changes. I wonder if there is actually no medical remedy for her weak eyes ? Should I take her to some other doctor for a second opinion ? I live in new Delhi, India.

Yesterday I installed WIN-98 SE. I am facing two small but irritating problems.

i) When I boot-up my PC and Windows starts, it always asks for password just before the front page appears and I have to press Enter to remove it.

ii) When I shut down Windows the message "It is now safe to switch off computer" does not appear, the screen just goes blank as if computer is hanged.

Kindly suggest some solution for these problems.

I am a 33 years old graduate. I have done DTP (Desk Top Publishing) course which includes knowledge of CorelDraw, Photoshop, MS-Office etc. I am running my own business of Designing and Printing documents for last 10 years in Ghaziabad, situated near New Delhi, India. I design formats for various documents like Visiting cards, Letter-Heads, Invoices, Advertising Pamphlets, Wedding Invitation Cards etc. and get them printed. But I could never get as much clients as I expected. I want to know if I can do anything more with my qualification and my setup of Computer which includes a scanner, Broadband net connection and Laser printer. How can I increase my client network ? Are there any options for earning on Internet ? If there is not much scope in own business, then are there any jobs in my city for Graphic Designers like me ?

Although my PC is old with configuration - Pentium-III 500 MHz, 384 RAM, 10 GB HDD, WIN-XP SE. But it was working fine until yesterday. Now it has gone really very slow. It works for 30 seconds and then hangs for 15 seconds. I removed all temporary files. I scanned for viruses but couldn't find any. At a time I am working on only single application. I don't know what else to do. There is a message that keeps coming after every few minutes - saying that the system is low on virtual memory. Why it has gone so low ? Please suggest something.

I have an old PC with WIN 98 SE. It doesn't support USB card and some other software, so I want to upgrade it. But I don't want to install heavy WIN-XP. Will WIN-ME work as good as WIN-98. Someone told me that WIN-Millenium is not better than WIN-98. Is it true that it is not stable ?

I use WIN XP and Norton Antivirus. It detected an infected file but was unable to neither fix it nor delete it. It shows the location of the file as below -

c:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-3831168374- 6366832213- 401709631- 7781\dllrun32.exe is infected with the W32.Pilleuz virus.

I am trying to delete it manually but not able to find it through search. This is really strange. Although the PC is otherwise working fine but this virus alert keeps bugging me whenever I scan some file for a virus. Please help.

I feel there is no support left for people working on WIN-98. I am unable to find any good antivirus for WIN-98. I am bound to work on WIN-98 and so I want an antivirus that still works on it. Earlier I used Norton Antivirus 2005 but there is no update left online for it. Can anybody suggest any good antivirus that still work on WIN-98 ? Thanks.

I have an old but faithful PC. Its configuration includes P-III 500 MHz, 256 MB RAM, 10 GB HDD. My scanner is UMAX Astra 1220S for SCSI port. Everything worked perfectly OK on WIN 98. But last week I upgraded to WIN XP (S/P 2) so that I can install an USB port. But now XP dont detect my scanner. I could not find an upgraded driver on UMAX site. I found a suggestion on one site to upgrade the driver for SCSI port. I installed that file - DTC3181x.exe. But still XP don't detect the scanner. Did anyone meet with a similar situation ? Please suggest a solution.

Then I tried a small utility called Resolve from www.sophos.com. It disinfected almost all the files leaving 5-6 files which had to be deleted. Two of these files are as follows :

C:\Windows\svchost.exe

C:\Recycled\nprotect\00001899.exe

Now in Windows 98 there is a utility called System File Checker through which we can retrieve deleted files. Is there a way in WIN XP also to retrieve deleted files ? I could only find System Restore but that will not help.

These files were not deleted accidentally. I had to delete them because they were infected. They were all EXE files, may be system files. I want to retrieve those missing files for Windows from system or from Windows CD. But I couldnot find a utility in WIN XP to do that.

Here is my sad story. I have an old PC with P-III and WIN-98 SE. Yesterday half of my fonts suddenly disapeared. I had Norton AntiVir-2005 installed but it is not updated. So I tried installing new AntiVir from Cd and also from Net. But I am unable to install any AntiVir and even no Online Scanner is working. Just one online scanner Trend Micro HouseCall scanned files and showed infection in about 50 Windows files, but it could not clean them. I cannot pay for an AntiVir right now. I have tried installing Kaspersky, Quickheal, but failed. I tried online scanning with Bitfinder, Panda etc but the scan simply didn't start. I did all this after removing my Norton AntiVir-2005. I wonder if some of Windows files have got deleted & so no scanner is running properly. What do you think ? Should I reinstall Windows again & then try running AntiVirus ? I am loosing patience. Please Help.

She also has a cousin sister 6 months younger who doesn't seem to throw as much tantrums while eating food. Ironically, this is also a fact that my kid is more active, enthusiastic, talkative & sportive than her cousin.
