Meg...Out of Hybernation

I mentor a group of high school kids and up until recently, I thought they had some level of respect for me. During two separate sessions, two of the girls told lies to the entire group in my presence. Now, am I right to feel that they don't respect me because they lied about me to others and had the nerve to do it while I was sitting right there? Do you think I am over reacting? The reason they both lied is because they were given a task that they did not complete and when called out (by another group member - not me - they both felt ashamed they had not finished the task and sought someone else to blame). Is this common behavior in teens and I just happened to miss that in all of my reading?

Can a person with minimal intellect make another person believe that they are clever?

Let's take this question as a time to reflect on our actions in 2007. People always have regrets. Many of us try to shrug it off and say that we wouldn't be who we are today if we had done things differently. For me, there are tons of things that I wished I had done differently and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. How do you feel about regrets?

Lately, people have started to use the term "real estate" to describe the space alloted to things. This annoys me because real estate is not a concept, but things that are of and refereing to physical land. What new term annoys you?

I am suffering from an extreme case of seasonal depression and today is not one of my good days. I have to facilitate a meeting with one of my clients in two hours and I haven't been able to turn off the water works. Does anyone know what I can do to get through the meeting? Thinking pleasant thoughts hasn't helped.

I am really not feeling well and although the day is almost over, I am not sure I can make it. I haven't accrued any vacation time and I don't want to use up any of my sick days until close to Christmas. How did you make it through the day?

Are we doing all we can to uplift our race? We can no longer play the victim, we must all take ownership of our actions and do better from this point forward. After watching the video, how do you feel about the current state of Black America?

I started with my current employer late August of this year. I haven't yet completed my 90-day probationary period and the guy that is supposed to train me just quit. I think they were planning to get rid of him for a while. Now, I haven't been adequately trained and they expect me to jump right in and take over. I just left a very stressful job and I was counting on having a less stressful job. Do you think I should start looking for another job or try to stick it out?

Don't you hate when someone asks a vague question and then they get upset when they get vague and general answers?

Someone asked a vague question and because I was unsure of what they were asking in the first place, I was hesitant to answer, but I knew enough about the general subject to provide a vague answer...Well, their response was rude and condescending, but there was no way for me to be more detailed because their question was so vague...Has this happened to any of you?

There's this guy I met almost 2 years ago that won't leave me alone. I found out that we work in the same building so I am always looking over my shoulder to see if he's entering or leaving the building and I am always using side and rear exits to avoid him. He refuses to just stop calling and emailing (information he got from the church where we met - this information was not given to him).

What did you do to rid yourself of your stalker?
