  • How much alcohol is needed for homemade wine to bottle it and preserve it?

I have this great recipe for Apple Pie Wine using 180 proof grain alcohol. Can I bottle this and consider it preserved? How much alcohol should I use to preserve this wine?

Wine has a percentage of alcohol. Is this what keeps it from spoiling?

  • Who built the Disney World trees in Animal Kingdom and Swiss Family Robinson?

I've been trying for a long time to find out who built those two trees. Even if you know of a zoo that has used sprayed textured concrete to make the animal displays, or a restaurant that has used the same for their theme. I've searched the internet and have not found anything. My contractors don't know either, and Disney either won't tell or don't know.

  • Matching Foods and side dishes?

Saturday is the big Lovers Day. I do a lot of cooking, and have been cooking for over 55 years, but I never can figure out what to serve with the main entree. I would like to prepare a descent dinner for my wife. So I have planned on Beef and Chicken shish kabobs (made and served seperately). Salt encrusted baked potato with garnishes. 7 layer salad. Home made yeast dinner rolls. Water to drink. And topped off with Cherries Jubilee.

Do you have any ideas for improvement or changes? I really would appreciate your help!

  • A pound of gold will be worth a pound of wheat.?

I have heard this or a simular proverb for our future reference. It is supposed to mean that gold, money, silver, etc., won't be woth a pound of wheat. This to me means times will be very difficult.

My question is where did this saying come from?

  • What format do you use to make CD's for your car?

I'd like to know what extension you use to make music CD's for my car from my computer. I tried MP3, but that didn't work, and instead of trying ALL formats, I would like to know before I burn more to test. Also just in case I don't have that format on my computer, can you suggest a program that has that particular format. I prefer freeware.

  • Tough baby back ribs!?

I've been cooking over fires for over 50 years, so I feel pretty good when it comes to cooking. I even wrote my own recipe book for my family.

BUT, when it comes to ribs, they always come out tough. I go to the restaurants and the bone will twist off the meat.

I remove the silver skin, and I've pre-boiled in water, slow cooked, fast cooked, wrapped in foil, and just about anything else you can think of. Still, I'm missing something.

    Do you have any suggestions?

I really would appreciate your help.

Plus tell me about your basting sauce.

  • Brie Cheese?

Can someone tell me how to eat Brie cheese? Do you cut the white crust off the outside or eat it too?

What are some dishes you can make with it?

  • What's the difference between the words gray and grey? What makes for their proper use?

I'm a old man, and never could understand the difference or proper use of these two words. I've searched the web, and as an example Die.com pretty well uses both the same way. If that is correct, then are there other words that mean the same thing but spelled different?

There and their are pronunced the same, but have different meanings. So clue this old codger in on correctness.

  • Bumble Bees?

When I was growing up we noticed that bumble bees either had a solid black face or a black face with a yellow spot in the center. One had a stinger, the other one didn't.

Do you know which is which?

  • I have a working prototype. I don't know if I'm dreaming, but no one seems interested.?

People think I'm nuts, or am dealing with indefinate energy, but the truth is it works. It can heat or cool from electricity, or produce electricity from heat or cold. No moving parts. Just my little black box.

Imagine this unit in a larger size. Not only could it produce heating or cooling, but could produce the power necessary to operate other electrical devices in your home or business.

NASA won't talk to me. They act like I'm an idiot! You could hang one of these out the window (laugh) and get enough power to supply a device in space instead of all those solar panels or atomic engines.

I have written to congress people asking for support. Guess what? No responses!

I have over 40 years as an Electrical Design Engineer, and have created other things that you may well use today. Now, I've got the future of power in my hands, and nobody wants to listen, or even think of the possibilities.

So, my fellow Y!A's what do you think?

  • Does anyone enjoy Coca-Cola and peanuts?

When I was a kid, I was introduced to putting a bag of salty peanuts in a bottle of Coca-Cola. I still do it today. Have you ever tried it? What do you think about the taste?

Do you know of anything simular to this, or something unusual you put together that would be considered strange?

Like balogna and banana with mayo sandwich!!!

  • Craft ideas for seniors?

I volunteer to teach arts and crafts for senior citizens. We've made baskets of over two years. Tin Can Scare Crows, Sun Diffusers, and a few other odd projects.

They seem to be happy making baskets, but I'm growing tired and broke doing this. I really need some new ideas. They have other classes in sewing, languages, quilt making. I'm just looking for different crafts. Painting is out. Doing or making with a knife is out.

Please, if you have any suggestions, post them here!

  • Will you listen to President Bush tonight?

I am a US American born citizen!

This is my opinion, and my right to express my feelings. I really get upset by the slashings given to President Bush.

    1. He was elected to do the job. I might not agree with all things, but he is the President.

    2. You, as a citizen, have the right to object to his work.

    3. But you should support his decisions. Please open your minds to facts, not mis-informed judgemental people.

    4. Our troops are fighting a war against terrorism, so you may continue to have the freedoms you have. Especially of free speech. Even words against the President of the US to people like me.

I encourage you to express your thoughts and answers to this, and I would appreciate if you would keep it clean and decent.

My love for our country is great!

So please answer if you will.

Carefully listen to our President tonight and listen to what he has to say before attacking/appreciating my statement?
