I bought half a cow, and one of the cuts is labelled Butt Roast.  I know it's a tough cut so I'm doing it in the crock pot.  I cut it up to cook faster and there's a big, oddly shaped bone in it - I'm guessing a slice of hip joint.  Is this normal?  I thought it would be boneless.

The very small and very isolated town in which I live has run out of icing sugar! I have double checked both stores (I am not exaggerating)  I need recipes for small treats like squares or bars, that don't contain icing sugar or any exotic ingredients, or need to be iced like sugar cookies.  This is for boxing day so time is of the essence!  Thanks from the Rocky Mountains in Alberta

This is a Gateway laptop with Windows 8, and only shows a blue box with "Enter Correct Password" in it. I have tried every password I ever remember using, as well as "Admin", "Password" and "letmein".

  Without access, this computer is nothing but a freaking doorstop, and my son really needs one for school. There MUST be a way to override the password requirement, mustn't there? Please help

I need to put my cat down, but I have no access to a vet. I live in a small town (2,000 ppl) and the closest city with a vet is over two hours away. I don't drive.

I don't buy this by choice. I live in northern Canada and there is only one grocer within 300 km. He stocks very poor quality beef and will not order in better quality. I know how to use moist heat, but sometimes I want a traditional roast without all the sauce. Cuts he carries are inside round, outside round and sirloin tip, but all come out like shoe leather. I'm a damn good cook but this stuff has me beat.

I live In a mining town with no after school programs and can't seem to find a reliable babysitter. One started lighting fires in the house, another was stealing. My son is seven and needs someone from after school until I get home from work at 5;30. I've advertised on the board at the mall and the high school, but kids here generally have so much money from their parents that they don't care about earning pocket money. Spring break is coming and I'm at my wits' end! Any suggestions welcome.

Any other gals stuck with a guy who thinks he can be a jerk, just because he "Works Hard" during the week? How do you deal?

My hubby of six years has an outside job, while I stay at home and look after our 2-1/2 year old son. i also keep the 2,250 square foot house clean, cook gourmet meals (used to be a chef), do the gardening, do the accounting for his business, pay bills, and do home maintenance like plumbling, painting and furnace repair. But when he gets home he just wants to know where his dinner is and then he leaves to go out with his friends. I asked him to sit our son for two hours this weekend so I could get on the computer and file the GST, but he said he really wanted to clean up the yard and couldn't spare 90 minutes. Then his buddy called, and he managed to find 6-1/2 hours to go out on his motorcycle! Ok I'm venting, but I'm getting stepped on big time here and need advice on how to grow a backbone - seems I was away the day they handed out spines.

I bought a case of it on sale and it just doesn't work for recipes intended for full fat (ie mousses, whips, toppings. Aside from using it in coffee what can you do with it?

Six weeks ago I had a cortisone injection in my knee to treat bursitis.. Worked like a charm, pain was gone for a month or more. Got a second injection yesterday, and now I can't even walk and the pain is very bad - worse than before the shot. Has anyone had a similar experience? Do you think the injection went wrong somehow and should I go to the ER? My Dr. won't be back till Monday and I am on crutches for now. Thanks
