How do you write about yourself? I love music, and I play the violin (although I'm not that good because I started late). I love to read. I like to surf the Internet. I love cities, and I think the country is nice to visit when you want to get away, but I hate living here. It gets boring REAL fast. My favorite TV shows are: F.R.I.E.N.D.S., House, How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, Design Star I really don't know what to do with my life. I'm very indecisive in that regard. Especially with school. I worry way too much about the future, and I'm pessimistic.

  • Pain in top off foot?

I DID go to the doctor who told me I had an ankle sprain and tendonitis.

This pain has been lasting about 2 weeks and there is no swelling or physical external indication of the pain. The pain is between my 4th and 5th metatarsals and hurts most when I walk. When I walk I feel it both on the top and bottom of my left foot, causing me to limp. I have been massaging what I think is my extensor digitorum longus tendon and it really does hurt and when I press it I can feel it in my toes too.

I didn t have any injuries to foot or fall or anything that would really cause it to hurt at all.

Any ideas on what could be causing the pain? I don t really have symptoms of an ankle sprain as the doctor suggested.

  • What do you think of career waiting and bartending?

I recently met a few waitresses at one restaurant in my town who served for a living. I know that on paper, waiters and bartenders make less than minimum wage because they receive tips, but I’m wondering how they make a living on that alone.

Is it practical? Have you ever met anyone who has waitressed or bartended for a living, with no other job?

  • Pure Ceramic Flat Irons?

I want to start straightening my hair more regularly, and I want to buy a good flat iron.

My sister has the Herstyler that she bought from the mall, and I really like the pure ceramic plates.

Are there any affordable pure ceramic flat irons? Has anyone ever heard of the Andis e.logica Ceramic Flat Iron? I was researching it (you can see it here: http://www.sallybeauty.com/andis-flat-iron/SBS-395...

I can't find many reviews on it, so I'm wondering if it's any good. It's cheap and it supposedly has 100% ceramic plates.

Do you have any other recommendations?

  • If a teacher double majors in Education and the Humanities what can s/he teach?

To be a middle or high school teacher, you usually have to double major in Education and the subject you want to teach.

One of the options is the Humanities. Does this mean that a teacher could teach English and Social Studies (History, Geography, European History, etc.)?

  • How will my graduated licensing work with a ticket?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

I got a speeding ticket (47 in a 30 zone) on Sunday, 9/29, and it's my first offense. I have a junior license but I turn 18 this Thursday, 10/3. How is that going to work? Will I have the points on my senior license? Does my license automatically turn to a senior license once I turn 18?

Will my license still be suspended?

Also, should I plead guilty or not guilty? I'm not sure how it works...

  • Do employers ask to see your high school diploma?

    Or your high school transcripts?

I've been wondering this. Most jobs require at least a HS diploma, but I've always wondered if they asked to see it or your transcripts.

  • Is a degree in Hospitality worth it?

Hospitality (hotels, airlines, transportation, travel) has interested me since I was very little. It’s something that I actually like to do, even down to scheduling, booking tickets and the like.

I’m wondering, though, if it would be wise to get a degree in Hospitality, or if it would be better to just get an entry-level job at a hotel. I was thinking about getting an Associate’s degree first, and seeing how everything works out before getting a Bachelor’s degree. I would love to study the industry, and have a good idea of the ins and outs of Hospitality management and tourism, but I’m wondering if it would be wise to spend the time and money on it.

In my area, the options for education in Hospitality are limited, and the options available are very expensive.

I am thinking about taking a year off between high school and [potentially] college to work (in the hospitality industry in some capacity) to get some money to support myself and my education if I need to. What do you all think?

Would it be better to just go straight from high school to college, majoring in Hospitality Management? My options right now are New York Institute of Technology and NYU, which are both pretty expensive for my circumstances. With my grades I could probably get a scholarship, but I am still deliberating if, in this industry, it would be better to for experience and jump into the industry, instead of going to college for it first.

    Your thoughts?

  • How do you calculate this if not given a mass?

Could you show me how to do this?

Ball A moving along a straight line at 2 m/s collides elastically with ball B of same mass moving at -3 m/s. What is the velocity of the balls A and B after collision?

  • The equations for physics?

    Hello,

I am doing physics work, and it has been a problem subject for me.

More than anything, I want to know how to do the problems I post on here, and I don't want to just know the answer.

    1. The coefficient of static friction between a 4 kg block and a table is 0.4. Which of the following statements is correct if the block is pulled by a force of 6 N?

    - The block moves with an acceleration of 3.92 m/s2.

    - The block moves with an acceleration of 1.5 m/s2.

    - The block will not move at all.

    - The block moves with constant speed.

I thought the answer to this would be that the block will not move at all because the static frictional force is 15.68 N (4kg * 0.4 * 9.8) and there is only 6N being applied to it.

    2. The frictional force acting on a 0.5 kg object and a floor is 3 N. What is the coefficient of friction between the object and the floor?

I think the answer is 0.6 because Fk = u (FN)

    3 = 0.5*9.8 * u

    3/4.9 = 0.6

    3. Pushing a body of 2.5 m on a rough floor constitutes 10 J of work. Which of the following statements is correct?

    - Applied force on the body is 4 N.

    - Net force on the body is 4 N.

    - Applied force on the body is 25 N.

    - Net force on the body is 25 N.

I think the answer is Applied force on the body is 4N because work = force * displacement

    10J = F(2.5)

    F = 4N

  • Could you show me how to do these physics problems?

    1. A car with a velocity of 25 m/s comes to rest in 10 seconds by applying brakes with a constant braking force. How far does the car travel in those 10 seconds?

I didn't learn the specifics of braking force.

    2. A baseball is thrown at an angle of 30° with respect to the ground and it reaches the ground in 2 seconds. What is its initial velocity of baseball?

    I said 19.6 m/s because of the equation t = 2vi(sinΘ)/g

    so it would be 2*9.81 = 2vi(sin30°)

    19.6 = 2vi(0.5)

    vi = 19.6 m/s

but I am not sure that this is correct.

    3. A car accelerates uniformly from rest on a straight road to a speed of 30 m/s in 15 seconds. What is the distance covered in 10 seconds?

    I calculated 200 m because 30m/s / 15s = 2m/s^2

    2m/s^2 (10) = 200m

Thank you in advance for your help

  • Is hospitality management oversaturated?

Is the major and industry oversaturated?

I love the hospitality industry, and it really is my passion. I may go into it regardless of oversaturation, but I just want to know if it's an oversaturated field and major.

  • Another Trig Equation?

I'm more interested in how to do this problem than just having the answer. It's really bothering me:

    sin x - 2sin(x)cos(x) = 0

    So far, I have sin x = 2sin(x)cos(x)

I thought of dividing by cos(x) and having

    tan(s) = 2sin(x)

I don't know where to go from there.

    Thank you!

  • Trigonometric Equation?

I would like to know HOW to solve this equation using Trig Identities and Algebra of course.

    sin^2 (x) = cos^2 (x)

I'm confused as to what to do.

I've used the double angle identity, but I don't know how to go from there to get values.

Here's what I have so far:

    cos 2x = cos^2 (x) - sin^2 (x)

    cos 2x = 0

    Then what?

  • The negative imperative in French?

    Hello,

I'm confused about how to turn a positive imperative (with pronouns) into a negative imperative.

    The phrase is "Arrête-toi ici!"

To turn it into the negative, would it be "Ne t'arrête pas ici!" or "N'arrête pas ici!"?

    Thank you

  • How do I provide emotional support?

So I’m not the most empathetic person.

I want to be better at it. ‘It’ being comforting people who are going through a tough time, whether it be that they are sick, dying, losing a loved one, losing a job, etc.

If any of you are familiar with the MBTI test, I’m an INTJ, and the T in my personality is extremely strong. I prefer logic over feeling, which does not help the whole empathetic situation.

I want to go into the medical field. I do want to help people and help them get better and healthier, but I’m not good at the emotional support that I know many different aspects of health care providing require you to give.

How do I get better at providing this emotional suppo

  • If blood pressure can now be checked electronically, why do nurses still need stethoscopes?

I understand why doctors need the stethoscopes, but I thought that nurses just used them for blood pressure. But now there are machines that check blood pressure electronically...

Do nurses still carry around stethoscopes and use them?

  • If velocity is a vector, why doesn't it have a direction when it's given?

Usually in physics problems in school, Vi and Vf are just listed as something like 10 m/s, but there is never a direction with it. I thought vectors were supposed to say directions as well.
