I was told by a coworker that you are required to take six weeks off of work after you have a baby. Is this at all true? If so, there is no way I could afford to not work for six weeks (my employer doesn t offer paid maternity leave). Are there any solutions to this problem?

We have a cat that is about one and a half and we have to give him up because our new apartment doesn't allow cats. If we can't find a home, we'll have to take him to my parents house. He would have to be an outdoor cat though. Would he be able to transition to living outside?

In the lease, it says that small animals are allowed and so a few years ago we got a small dog. He was perfectly fine with the dog and made no complaint. We had to give up the dog for other reasons and got a cat instead. The landlord is now pissy because we didn't ask permission to get the cat (we didn't ask to get the dog either) and is making us get rid of the cat. Is this in his rights to do?

My living room carpet has been heavily soiled mostly by a dog peeing/pooping on the carpet (the last owners lied about potty training him and I have since given him up to someone with the time and know-how to train him). The carpet doesn t really smell or anything but it feels grimy and gross when walking on it. I borrowed a steam cleaner thing but it hasn t helped as much as I want. Any tips on how to clean it better?

And tearing up the carpet or getting it professionally cleaned are not options. I don't have the money for it and my apartment is too much of a shithole for it to be worth it.

My car recently started squeaking while driving. It is most noticable when driving slower. It gets louder while turning left and almost nonexistent while turning right. What could be causing this and would it be costly to fix?

While donating blood they have you squeeze a stress ball every five seconds or so. What is the purpose of it? Will doing it slower or faster change how fast your blood flows?

I read it three or four years ago. I believe it's considered young adult. It's about a girl who dies and is sent to the afterlife. There she meets her grandma or aunt or some other relation. The people who live there are aging backwards until they become infants and are sent back out into the world. The girl meets a guy and at one point helps her talk to her family by swimming to the bottom of the ocean to this window thing. The cover might have a picture of a snow globe on it, if I remember right. What's the name and who is the author of this book?

About a month ago I had bleached my hair and then dyed it blue with manic panic. The color has faded a lot (the color at the ends is completely gone but every where else is still a little blue). I want to re-dye it red. Can I just put the red on or do I have to get rid of all the blue first?

I was thinking about entering a poem that I wrote into a contest. The rules say that it has to be unpublished. I wrote it a few years ago and since then have posted it on yahoo answers, my own website, and fliprap.com (a poem sharing website) where it won poetry of the week a few months ago. Are any of these considered publishing my poem?
