I just got a used Cannondale c300 21 speed mountain bike.

However, I do not like the gear ratio that much as many of the gears are way too low and I never climb hills that steep on it. As such I would like to replace some lower gears with some higher ones.

What is the cost and complexity of doing this? Can I do this myself? I am a fairly proficient at being a mechanic and do most of my own repairs.

I buy old bikes and I am wondering how do I go about figuring out what year they are made in?

My bicycle rear shifter is out. How do I know if it just needs a new cable or if it needs a whole new shifting unit?

It is a shimano shifter on a Nishiki Mountain bike if that makes a difference.

Is there a web site that is good for selling collectibles? Other than Ebay?

I tried Ebay but it seems like the prices that people get on Ebay are way too low. I have a piece that has a gallery price of $2,500 and can not seem to get even $500 on Ebay! While I understand that I will not get the gallery price the Ebay price is striking me as being way too low!

It seems like Ebay while great for most things is not a good place to sell art.

I have a really nice hand painted beer stein from Germany and I am trying to sell it. I have tried Ebay with no luck because Ebay is the wrong audience for it.

Are there other places where I can sell this? Maybe sites where the people are collectors of such? Or?

I have an item on Ebay and I have it as buy it now or best offer for 30 days. Should I let it just sit for 30 days and see what happens?

Or even after a few days should I lower my price?

I am selling 5 gallon glass bottles on Ebay.

They are very nice but I am very concerned about the shipping. These are very heavy and are fragile too. How do I deal with this? Offer no returns? What about insurance? If you have insurance and the bottle was to break is it hard to collect on the insurance? What does the insurance in this case do anyway? Pay for replacement value or? Worse yet these are vintage and can not be replaced as such.
