Can I use my temporary US Passport to leave/re-enter the US?
Sounds like a stupid question and I am probably overthinking it, but here's the situation:
I've been in Europe for about 5 months and will return to the US by the middle of May.
A few weeks ago, I had my original, full-validity US passport stolen while in Barcelona. I went to the US Consulate in Barcelona and received a limited-validity, 1-year US passport. A couple of weeks after I return to the US in May, I will be going to the Caribbean Islands for a short trip, and then will be returning to the US.
I am reading on the US Department of State's website that I should get my full-validity passport as soon as possible when I am back in the US, but the time between me returning from Europe and leaving for the Caribbean is too short to wait for the 4-6 week processing time (even the 2-3 expedited processing).
I think it should work because it is a 1-year passport, but I am just curious to see if I would have any complications because it was an emergency passport issued in Europe.
Thanks!
5 AnswersImmigration3 years agoHow to find the DOWN PAYMENT on a car to make a $1000 MONTHLY payment using EXCEL SOLVER?
"You will use Solver to determine what amount you will need for a down payment in order to obtain a monthly payment of $1000.00 for the number of months that you have decided to finance your car."
So here are the values I picked based on the table given:
Cost of car: $80,000
Down payment: ?
Interest Rate: 0.05/12 (monthly rate)
Number of payments: 60 (5 years)
Monthly payment: Goal = $1000.
How do I use solver to find this? I tried putting in some values and it gives me a $132K number that just does not make sense because you cannot put a down payment greater than the price of the car lol.

1 AnswerOther - Electronics6 years agoAre all of the paintings in the National Gallery of Art in D.C. real?
I went to the National Gallery of Art a couple of weeks ago. The artwork there is incredible, but are the paintings that they hang up in the individual galleries the original works or are they reproductions only used for show?
I just find it hard to believe they would put hundreds of multimillion dollar paintings on display where anyone could destroy them if they wanted to.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question
1 AnswerPainting6 years agoFinding extrema / critical numbers?
Given: f(x) = x^3 - 3x^2 - 9x + 20
Find the local maximum point on the closed interval [-3, 5]
So f'(x) = 3x^2 - 6x - 9
f'(x) = 0 at x = 3 and x = -1
How do i find the maximum/minimums?

So I'm trying to build muscle and bulk up a bit, but I'm wondering if running a few miles everyday would negatively affect this process. If I were to run a few miles as well as lift, would that be ok in terms of building body mass?

Given the series below (not geometric), find the infinite sum of the series.
1/(1*3) + 1/(3*5) + 1/(5*7) . . .
Since this series is not geometric or arithmetic, what is the proper approach? Slightly confused on how to start...
Any help is greatly appreciated thank you
2 AnswersMathematics7 years agoMathematical Induction Problem?
I'm not exactly sure if this is an induction problem, but it's what we've been doing in class so I'm assuming it is...
There are n people in a room. Everyone in the room will shake hands with every other person in the room. Show that there are exactly (n^2 - n) / 2 distinct handshakes. (Distinct means that when a person A shakes hands with B, that is one handshake). n > 1.
Would I just use induction to prove that the n+1 case is true? I'm a bit confused on how to approach this... any help is greatly appreciated!
2 AnswersMathematics7 years agoFind the oxidation number of each element in the compound?
Fe(ClO2)3
I need to find the oxidation number of Fe, Cl, and O.
I'm assuming Oxygen is -2, but how do I find the others?
Fe(ClO2)3
O2 is -2, so -2 * 6 = -12...
Cl is -1 (?) so -1 * 3 = -3
But I don't see how +15 could be Fe?
Could someone help me out with this?
3 AnswersChemistry7 years agoChemistry Redox help?
Using the equation: Sn + CuSO4 --> Cu + SnSO4
What element that is oxidized?
What element is reduced?
What element is the oxidizing element?
What element is the reducing agent?
I just need help understanding this whole concept.
Sn has a charge of 0 since it's an element
Do I count SO4 as a compound on its own with Cu? So would Cu be +2 and SO4 -2? or do I separate S and O4?
So Cu would be oxidized since it loses electrons?
And Sn would be reduced since it gains electrons?
Oxidizing element would be Sn? Reducing agent Cu?
I'm just totally confused on how to get each part. Could anyone explain to me or lead me in the right direction? Thanks
1 AnswerChemistry7 years agoHow to boost my confidence?
This is a serious question.
I want to know if there's any things I can do to boost my confidence. I feel like it's really starting to and going to continue to negatively affect me in life.
I'm a junior in high school and I get pretty good grades and all, but I'm not very confident. This question arose after I got denied from this Peer Ed program at my school. I'm not really "down" or sad about the situation, I just learned that the reason behind my rejection was that I don't come off as confident or seem confident in myself.
I would definitely agree with this reasoning. I don't know why, but I never feel confident in myself in the things I do or things I say. It's weird. This will definitely hurt me in the future with job interviews, relationships, or really anything I do.
Can anyone give me some advice on what I should do? I want to try to build my confidence and develop my character more.
All responses are greatly appreciated.
3 AnswersPsychology7 years agoCalculating Ka using pH?
Calculate Ka for a 0.100M solution of sulfurous acid (H2SO3) if pH = 1.48
H2SO3 --> H + HSO3
So, would I calculate H's molarity (concentration) and then somehow plug it in?
Any help is greatly appreciated
1 AnswerChemistry7 years agoCalculating pH?
If the concentration of Ca(OH)2 is 4.00 x 10^-3, calculate the pH
So... I wrote down the formula
Ca(OH)2 --> Ca + 2(OH)
Since the concentration of Ca(OH)2 is 4.00 x 10^-3 I think the concentration of OH would be double that? So 8.00 x 10^-3?
So, then I calculated the pOH
-log(8.00x10^-3) = 2.10 and then pH = 11.9
Is this correct?
1 AnswerChemistry7 years agoChemistry help? Therm. equations?
Here's the question:
How many grams of NaOH (s) are dissolved in water when 23,000 kJ of heat are released?
NaOH (s) --> Na+ (aq) + OH- (aq) (delta) Hsoln = -445.1 kJ/mol
I'm totally confused on how to approach this problem.
Do I just divide 23,000 kJ by -445.1 kJ/mol and find the number of moles of NaOH and then convert to grams? I don't think it's right because the value is negative...?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
1 AnswerChemistry7 years agoChemistry question? Vaporization?
This is the specific question:
How much heat in kilojoules is absorbed when 63.7g H2O (l) at STP are converted to steam at 100C?
So I've done:
x = 63.7g H2O x (1mol/18.0g) x (6.01kJ/1mol)
x = 21.3 kJ
My question is, do I use the heat of vaporization of water or heat of fusion?
So, would I multiply the number of moles of H2O by 6.01 kJ/mol or 40.7 kJ/mol?
How can I tell which to use?
1 AnswerChemistry7 years agoGood Workout Routine?
I'm looking to create a 5-6 workout routine. Problem is, I'm not sure how exactly I should set it up. Could someone give me a solid 5-6 workout routine? I don't need specific workouts, just which parts of the body to workout on which days.
I'm primarily looking to build some muscle.
Also, is it worth working on one muscle group a day? Ex. Working on just arms one day, legs then next, etc. or is that ineffective?
I'm just looking for a plan that'll be effective and will help me the most.
Thanks!
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness7 years agoChemistry - Specific Heat w/ Silver?
I'm a little confused with my lab. I know the specific heat of silver at 20 C is about .240 J/gC
However, in my lab I got 0.1... here's what the situation is:
You have 5g of silver. The starting temperature is 20 C, and then you heat the silver for 3 seconds and the temperature changes to 551.9 C. This is a 531.9 C change in temperature. The amount of energy absorbed was 250 Joules.
Next, using c = Q/mT I did:
c = 150 J / 5g * 531.9 C
c = 0.0564 J/gC
Did I do something wrong? Is it because of the certain amount of silver used? I'm not sure.
