Why were the Napoleonic Wars fought? (1799 - 1815)?
Not that there were other Napoleonic Wars...
There's a lot of information about the outcomes of it but I was wondering if anyone had a brief summary of what caused it?
Thanks!
4 AnswersHistory1 decade agoAnyone out there a whiz on the basics of philosophy?
I am developing a love for philosophy and I want to study it at University. Sadly, I don't study it at school so I was wondering if there is anyone out there who would be interested in getting in touch with me so we can discuss the basics of it and I can see if it's really for me?
I have the books to read but I'm interested in hearing as many views as possible.
Or you can just post here :)
That would be great! Thanks in advance!
6 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoTess of the D'Ubervilles - who's your favourite character and why?
Personally, I can't stand any of them. Maybe this will change upon a second reading?
Personally, I find Tess far too naive and weak, particularly shown through the effect men have on her.
Alec seems like a persistent pervert who has no morals of his own and merely wants Tess for material reasons (her looks) rather than who she is.
And Angel's double-standards are ridiculous.
Any thoughts?

I'm starting my A-Level's in two weeks time (roughly) and I'm also taking on two jobs - occasional baby-sitting and a Learn-To-Swim program. In the holiday's I'm doing work experience at a Law Firm (hopefully!)
I'm taking
Mathematics (with Statistics)
English Literature
Economics

and for extra cirricular's:
Debating Society
Youn Enterprise Award Scheme
Model United Nations
Baskteball Team
Netball Team
Swimming Team
Athletic's Team
Vice-House Captain.
Writing it all out I'm smiling cause it's so much but do you reckon I might have the slightest chance of doing all this? And if not, what would you recommend goes?
1 AnswerOther - Education1 decade agoCould these results be wrong?
For my GCSE's I got a B in AQA English Literature and I got A* in all the coursework and orals so do you think there could be a possibility that something was marked wrong? I don't want to sound like a snob but I was very disappointed in it, especially as it's my 'best' subject and I was predicted an A* ?
4 AnswersOther - Education1 decade agoA question about racism and democracy?
Around the time of the Cold War, there was the anti-communism and the way that black people were treated that threatened American Democracy. I was wondering what exactly about the treatment of blacks that affected the democracy other than the fact that the blacks didn'ts have legitimized freedoms and liberties.
Could the white Americans perhaps have been afraid that the blacks could overthrow the democracy?
Any help would me much appreciated, I'm a little confused here.

7 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoHow much exercise do I need to do a day?
So I want to try and lose at least 4 kg this month, and I have so far been doing about 40 mins exercise a day in the gym - mostly continuous jogging.
I also have done some walking and stuff, eating healthily.
Is this adequate or should I only be eating so many calories and then exercising more?
