What is your opinion about spending 76 million dollars to make an anti suicide net on the Golden Gate Bridge?
Since 1937 suicides average 21 per year. Sad sure, but 76 million dollars coming out of the San Francisco district and funding for roads (California's roads are notoriously bad) seems a bad idea.
One woman's son who jumped off the bridge this past January said if the debate over creating some kind of barrier had happened sooner, her son would be alive. My take is if he was determined to commit suicide he would have just found another way. It may seem harsh, but 76 million? Why not use some for mental health intervention for all or assist the people struggling to survive (housing and food) in the San Francisco area?
11 AnswersCurrent Events7 years agohas anyone tried a nutriceutical (non-drug) approach to controlling anxiety?
Using amino acids like tryptophan, 5-htp etc? I'm reading a book, the mood cure and have started taking amino acids. Anyone have experience with this 'alternative' method of balancing brain endorphins etc? have had anxiety for 6 years really bad due to trauma and life changes, loss of family members. drugs just seem useless.
3 AnswersMental Health7 years agoChevy S-10 Tonneau covers assistance?
The area I live in has no businesses offering tonneaus, so I'm shopping online which is a huge pain, because there are so many and how do you really know how they look and fit? I had a snap-top which looked really good but once unsnapped it was a battle to re snap, even the guys could not do it..it is trashed now because the tailgate end has flapped in the wind. I like that the snap tonneau covers the whole truck bed (6 foot) and rails, but most tonneaus I see online only cover half the rails and to protect them I'd have to buy rail caps also. Not made of money so the high end tonneaus are out of my reach. Anyone with an S-10 (mine is a 2003...and believe it or not, not even 30K miles on it, I baby it)..or knowledgeable about them or tonneaus with suggestions on what to buy? Thanks so much for serious input!!

3 AnswersOther - Social Science7 years agoMy cat was treated for a Urinary tract infection?
I don't want her to suffer again so I went to Pet Club and looked at all the dry foods that stated for UTIs. ALL had corn gluten as the first ingredient. This seems very wrong. Yes I feed her wet food and she drinks water but wanted dry food as a way to provide variety in her diet and hoped a UTI labled food would help....but CORN GLUTEN?
I bought a dry food whose first ingredient is duck, then duck and chicken meal.
What is with corn gluten, besides raising protein...protein that is not natural to a cat's diet.
6 AnswersCats7 years agoWith even a prescription for marijuana is the cost high?
Thinking of getting a prescription for marijuana. (would rather not have to smoke it, but clueless about the various options at this point). Is it still costly even when you have a medical reason for taking it? ( My doctor says he is fine with me using marijuana) No reason to pay a doctor to give me a 'scrip if I can't afford what the Medical marijuana shop/stores are charging.
Any medical marijuana users out there that can offer me serious information?
I'm not interested in stoner jokes etc.
2 AnswersAlternative Medicine7 years agoDo I feel stupid. How do I restore the original wallpaper?
I had the original windows display as my background and when trying to view a photo a friend sent, thinking making it my background would allow me to see it bigger it pixelated horribly and now even searching control panel I can't locate where to restore it to the original background. Any help appreciated for this doofus!
2 AnswersOther - Computers7 years agoQuery about Octopuses?
Went to the Aquarium on Pier 39 in San Francisco. A fisherman had caught 3 octopuses (or octopi) two female, one male, and generally fishermen eat the ones they catch, but this was a nice guy. In nature being shy creatures, most do not procreate, but when they do, the female stays with the young and starves to death protecting them. At the Aquarium the tour guide said the reason the male was in a small tank while the females were in the general aquarium was to protect them from getting pregnant, "as they would die". My thought was if they were in a protected area, could not the pregnant female be fed by workers and thus survive?
(the idea about overpopulation came to mind tho' one would think the young could be set free) Better to keep the male confined or would the idea of feeding the "mom" octopus be workable?
I'm aware allowing procreation would create more work for folks at the Aquarium, but the above idea came to me after visiting the Aquarium. Just a thought

I had a question regarding activating my Sent folder and was going to send it to Customer Service and aside from my email address they ask for a Mobile Number. I do not have one and so can't send the question to Customer Service. Not everyone has or wants to make available their mobile phone number. How can I contact Customer Service?
1 AnswerOther - Yahoo Mail7 years agoGuys would you like to be able to dump some of societies roles?
In Western culture, men aren't supposed to wear makeup or do things to either hide or accentuate differing things. Do you sometimes wish you could wear any color you wanted or softer clothes, and pamper yourself and use concealers or mascara to either hide skin flaws or show off those long lashes. At least have a wider range of choice like women have?
8 AnswersGender & Women's Studies8 years agoWhy seemingly here on YA do a good number of guys seem threatened?
By women and spouting about women being spoiled or feminism being the fall guy for the ills of society? Is it because they are mainly teen boys frustrated they cannot get a date or just aren't mature enough to understand women so they spout silliness or just trolling?
1 AnswerLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender8 years agoWhy oh why when they know females need more restrooms?
Do not they build stadiums, public places with women in mind. At times I've just walked in the men's room saying excuse me and used the stall, rather than wait in looooooooooooooong lines, trying not to pee myself.
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture8 years agoHave you ever inadvertently shoplifted?
Like both you and the cashier overlook something in your basket, or you've been clothes shopping and have thrown a garment over your arm and continued to shop and then paid for you other purchases and oops found the garment on your arm when you got to your car? What did you do?
Over time this has happened to me twice. No I do not shoplift, I'm too scared of going to jail but one time had a blouse thrown over the edge of my cart and only discovered it when I was loading packages in my car another time shopped for a protective apron for ceramics class and was so busy talking with a friend that we were outside of the store before I realized I had the darn thing in my hands. That time I quickly walked back in and put it back...being thankful I was not stopped at the door.

1 AnswerOther - Internet8 years agoDo you think black women have brought about acceptance?
That women do carry more weight and that heavier thighs and bigger bottoms are just fine?
(which i think is just fine, our westernized society bought too heavily into not accepting curves on women and caused a lot of self esteem issues. acceptable sizes for women got smaller after the 1950s).
