  • What to do about strange neighbors?

My husband and I bought a house last week & moved in yesterday. It's in a fairly nice neighborhood. The house next door is decorated extremely gaudy with fake flowers planted in the yard and a zoo of decorations. It's an eyesore, but we didn't think anything about it...until we met the owners. Yesterday, they came to our front door and said that God told them to bless us and to look in our back yard. We went back and they had brought over pictures, furniture, decorations, etc.. and left it there. We were a little put off, put thanked them for the gesture and figured we would throw it all in our garage. Today when I came home, fake flowers were planted by our door step and our lawn was decorated with their decorations. We aren't sure what to do, but we definitely don't want them to think its okay to come on our property or change it at will. How do we return their things without being rude and making things worse ?

  • Interest Rate Changes?

A few weeks ago, my husband and I were pre-qualified for a mortgage of 130,000 at an interest rate of 4.3. Our mortgage broker told us that the monthly payment would be $910. Now, we've found a home for $119,000 and are in the process of closing. We called the mortgage company to confirm everything and were told that interest rates have went up and now the rate for us will be 5.4 and our monthly payment will be $875. The whole reason we found a home that was $11,000 below our max was to have a much lower monthly payment. Does this sound right for an interest rate to change so quickly?

  • Should we buy a house?

My fiancé and I are hoping to buy a house sometime soon. We have been together 5 years and lived together for 3. We currently rent a house and pay $925 in rent, plus around $250 in utilities/cable. We also both have stable jobs and earn around $70,000/year together. Our lease is up at the end of august and we would like to buy a house by then, the only problem is that we will not have enough for a down payment by then. We are working on saving, but im

afraid we won't be approved for a mortgage without a downpayment. Are there any other options or should we continue renting for another year?

  • First Week Of Teaching...Need help!?

I've taught before in regular Ed. Preschool settings and this year I'm at a new school teaching a preschool class with half typical and half special needs students. I'm totally overwhelmed. Everything that I had planned for curriculum is sitting on the back burner. I have some almost 5 year olds that are ready to start writing and learning letter sounds, then I have some newly 3 year olds who are deaf, autistic, in wheelchairs, and non verbal. Even doing circle time has become a huge stress. How do I prepare lessons and the environment to meet the needs of both groups of students?

  • Small toddler classroom?

I work for an Early Head Start program in the two year old room. This year I have a new classroom that's less than half the size of my old one. Typically I would have 6 centers: manipulatives, blocks, art, science, dramatic play, and literacy. Now, I can only fit about 3 shelves in the room. Does anyone have any creative ideas for organizing and creating centers in a tiny room?

  • Moving to another city with boyfriend?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years and have lived together for 1 year. Now that we're both finishing up with our degrees, me with my masters and him with his bachelors, we've been trying to decide where to go from here. Although I have a job I love, the degree he has is really only useful for living in a large city. We've both been looking at jobs in NYC and have found positions that we both want to go for. The question is...does it make sense to move across the country with your boyfriend? I feel like we should be engaged or married before making a move together like that, but he insists that it's just another step in our relationship. Any advice?

  • Should we move in together?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 1/2 years. We've had separate apartments until about 6 months ago. He got into an argument with his roommate and decided to move out, and so he moved in with me until he could find a new place. It turned into us living together and for the past 6 months everything has been great. Now, my lease is up and we have to decide what to do. We both want to get a place of our own together, but friends and family keep saying that it's not a good idea because if we were to break up then we would both be stuck with a lease.

We're both out of college and have good jobs, so money and age isn't the question. Is it a good idea to live with someone you're dating?

  • Fun cities for a weekend getaway?

My boyfriend and I are a little low on money, so instead of a week at the beach for spring break we've decided to take a 2-3 day trip. We are looking for somewhere within a 6 hour drive (we live in Kentucky) and that has some fun/interesting places to visit. Any suggestions?

  • Boyfriend telling lies.....again?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years and recently moved in together. During the first year, we had a lot of problems with trust. He often gave his number out to girls that he met, which eventually led to him cheating. After we moved past the cheating, I asked that he stopped giving his number out to girls because I wasn't comfortable with it and I was afraid it would happen all over again. The past year has been good, and we even moved in together, but now I've found out that he's been giving his number out again. He gets texts and calls from girls in his classes and from work that he's exchanged numbers with, and when I ask about it, he lies and says that he doesn't know how they got his number.

I guess I just want to know if it was reasonable to ask him not to give his number out, or if that's taking it too far. And if so...is him lying to cover it up just not wanting me to get mad or is the past coming back again?

My boyfriend is a film student and an up and coming videographer/photography. For his birthday he asked for a subscription to a good photography or videography magazine. Any suggestions?

  • Parents: what do you expect from a babysitter?

I'm 22 and in graduate school for teaching. For about 6 months I've been babysitting for some extra money for a family with 3 children. Although I've babysat a lot before, this family seems to expect much more out of me. They pay me much less than I usually charge, though I've let it go since they give me steady work each week. However, every time I go, the mother ( a stay at home mom), leaves me a list of chores to do in the house, along with taking care of the 3 children, one of which has special needs. I'm not opposed to picking up after myself and the children, but I feel that doing the laundry, mopping the floors, and doing days of dishes are beyond my responsibilities as a babysitter. As a parent, do you expect your babysitter to do housekeeping as well?

  • Mother's depression causing me to drift away?

Since I was around 12 my mother has had depression. She's been on and off of medication for it, and is now completely off. The highs and lows she experiences are intense and hard to deal with. I'm 22 now and have since moved out and graduated from college, but I come back occasionally to visit. However, it's extremely hard because while i'm gone she will call and say how much she misses me, but when I come home she screams, yells, puts me down, and makes it a miserable time. It's gotten to the point where I can't stay at home for more than a few hours without getting tired of it. I don't want to completely cut her out of my life, but how can I deal with it in a better way?

  • At home highlighting?

My natural color is a very dark brown, although i've been blonde for the past 10 years. Recently I decided to try to go natural and had it dyed a deep shade of brown, and I completely hate it. I want to get blonde highlights to lighten up my hair, but really can't afford to go back to the salon. Does anyone know of any at home highlighting kits that work well for darker hair?

  • Bad Christmas gift from boyfriend?

I'm a little conflicted and just need a few opinions.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years & live together. For Christmas this year, we made each other little lists of things we each wanted. I bought him a few things from his list, plus a few extra items to surprise him with. I had told him that I just wanted something that came from the heart. When we exchanged gifts last night, he presented me with a gift certificate to our favorite restaurant, which was very expensive. I was excited that he had gotten me something that I hadn't put on my list and went out of his way to pay so much money....that was until he told me that he had actually won the gift certificate at a raffle...after paying $5.

I don't want to be selfish or mad, but it makes me feel horrible that I put so much effort (not to mention money) into making sure his Christmas was great, and he put no thought at all into it.

Should I just let it go?

  • Family against my Interracial Relationship....help?

My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years. We are both out of college, living together, and hoping to eventually take the next step together. The only problem is, my family is completely against it because of our different races. I have never been very close to my family, and I try not to let it bother me, but it is hard to think that if we get married, no one from my family would come, especially when his family is so supportive and accepting of me. Should it matter whether or not my family supports my relationship?

  • Long Distance Relationships?

My boyfriend and i are both in college, although I'm in graduate school and he's getting ready to graduate. He's leaving for graduate school, 8 hours away, and I'm not sure we can make it long distance. Even though we've been together for 2 years, we've never talked about any kind of future together, mostly because he says that we're too young to think about things like that. We've also had trust issues in the past that i don't think distance would help. My question is...I love him, but should we even try to stay together if he doesn't plan on a future with me?
