  • Why do we hear so much about the British royal family, but no others?

I don't really watch the news, but last summer I was hearing all this stuff about Sir David Beckham and the royal baby. I never hear anybody talking about the King of Spain, the Duke of Luxembourg or the Emperor of Japan, among many other monarchies.

  • I don't question orders. Is this good or bad?

I see people who give orders as above my authority, and I do as they say. I never question what they ask me to do, unless they are equal or lower than me. Is this a good or a bad thing? Is it normal(I know you're going to say "yes" to make me feel good anyway"?

  • Why is Neon Genesis Evangelion so expensive?

The DVD collection was $80, so I've been hunting down the tapes online. I have everything but 8-12, and this is getting to me, even though it shouldn't. Why is the DVD set so expensive? I would expect a series as popular as it to be, I don't know, less expensive?

  • What's your favorite anime?

Just gauging how many people like different shows. You see, I have a very, well, different taste, I watch gritty shows that no one has heard of. I'm feeling in the mood for some VOTOMS today.

  • Did you know that WWII was started by aliens!?

Way back when, the aliens elected a new leader by the name of Ah. Ah was a hostile alien, and wanted to take us over. So, in 1941, BAM! The aliens bombed Pearl Harbor, and so we declared war on each other. I honestly can't believe that we won against the aliens, because, you know, they're aliens!

  • Why are many atheists so rude on this site?

I've honestly never met an atheist in real life that has tried proving to me that God doesn't exist. The atheists I know respect others' beliefs, so why don't they do that on this site?

  • Why is it that a car's model year is, a lot of the time, one year ahead?

A car made in 2001 would have a 2002 model year.

  • Does historical fiction in medieval times exist besides Ken Follett's Pillars duology?

Most stories set in medieval times I have seen are some kind of fantasy, and I have never seen a true medieval historical fiction besides The Pillars Of The Earth, and its "sequel" World Without End. Have you seen any non-fantasy medieval fiction besides these two books? If so, tell me the name of the book and your thoughts on it.

  • I believe I'm lacking in empathy?

I have an 8-year-old girl with cancer in my town apparently, and I didn't know about her at all until yesterday. She's apparently going to die in three weeks, and I can feel sorry for her and her family, but I feel it as only a superficial sorrow. Inside, it doesn't concern me, so I don't let it get to me all that much. I see myself as the only one who doesn't weep at funerals. I have been noticing progress in empathy when reading and watching fiction, though. I have noticed my heart beating faster at a climax point, and smiling when a character I care about has a good day or escapes death. This is progress in the right direction, but I would like to extend this to real people. Are there any ways I can do this? Also, how would somebody have auch little empathy?

  • Politically, what am I?

I side with the Democrats on money spending and the treatment of the rich and with the Republicans on peoples' rights. I find this a good balance so I don't run off and become an extremist when it comes to either of the big two political parties. But what do I label myself as?

  • How to use non-standard English characters on an American keyboard?

I would like to use characters from languages such as Spanish and romanized Japanese, but the only way I can do so now is by copying and pasting. How do I make shortcuts for these characters? I am using Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004.

  • Is it a good idea to buy broken computers or game consoles for parts?

Since my 7-year-old laptop can't handle anything, I plan on building a new computer from the ground up by gutting an old desktop and frankensteining various parts from broken gaming PCs and game consoles. I think it would be a good way to save money on building a high-spec gaming PC rather than buying the parts alone. Does it actually save money and give you a good computer, or should I just buy used parts alone?

  • Should I get the Call Of Duty War Chest for $11 or Skyrim for $20?

The Call Of Duty I am referring to would be the original WWII CoD games(1, 2, & 3), not Modern Warfare or Black Ops. The War Chest features CoD 1, The United Offensive Expansion Pack, and CoD 2. 2 games and an expansion pack for only $11 sounds like a great deal to me. But Skyrim is also only $20, so I'm not sure which one to get. This is all physical copies for PC. Please do not give answers like "o cod and fps games suck", please give me an unbiased answer(or at least as unbiased as you can) based around the gameplay and overall quality. The computer I run would be a Gateway MX6441, AMD Turion 64 Mobile, Technology ML-34, 1.79 GHz speed and 1.43 GB of RAM, although I do plan on gutting a Compaq desktop and making it a top-notch gaming computer.

  • Should Yahoo! make a section devoted to anime/manga?

Jst now, when I checked Comics & Animation's first page, all I saw was anime/manga questions. I came to this section to ask, I dunno, maybe a question about superheroes? Or Disney? Not that I don't like anime/manga, you can tell I like it because my icon is not a Gundam, but Star Saber from the most obscure Super Robot show ever, Transformers: Victory.

  • Is it a sin to not get married?

I've had a few reasons to not get married. The first one, and the reason why I chose not to do so as a child, is because the wife nags at you. I actually do not find that such a big deal by now. My second reason is more important. It is because I'm afraid that my wife will file a divorce without my permission, when marriage is meant to last forever. The first reason is actually still prevalent, very much so, but I've heard that not getting married is bad if it it because of selfishness. So, is it a sin or not in my case?

  • Are homosexuals really born with a preference for their own sex?

I recently got in a debate with my liberal brother and he said that homosexuals "have no choice" about what sex they prefer. Is this true?

  • Is Call Of Duty 3 on PC?

The third numbered WWII one, not Modern Warfare 3.

  • My avatar isn't showing up?

I've been a member of Yahoo for about a year, maybe a year an a half, and I've been a regular user of it for as long as I can remember. I'm finally changing my Answers icon to my actual avatar, but it isn't showing up. Could this have something to do with Yahoo taking down the Avatars site? Or do I have to just wait?

  • I'd like to get into football?

I've been left out of sports conversations, and it looks fun to watch once you figure everything out. Simple enough. OK, so far, I think that the basic premise of football is a convoluted version of running a ball 10 yards, and you pass it to other guys and try to avoid the other team getting you. I don't know the positions and what they do yet, so please help me with that. I'm also wondering, what's the best night to watch football? If you can help me with this simple questions, I'd like to say thank you.
