I think the best way to describe me is to use Jimmy Buffett as inspiration I'm a piece of work, I'm iron and lace I'm shy, right up there in your face I'm all dumbfounded, stubborn as an ass Sharp as an arrow in a pile of glass I'm a sweetheart, genius, restless jerk Lord have mercy, I'm a piece of work Well, the lord made me on a long thin limb Made sure I'd remember him Or her in the middle of a long, dark night Creation crazy, death sheet white Made in the image of a lion shocked lamb I am who the hell I am Ever better, bad to worse Down to the letter I'm a piece of work I’m a piece of work, I'm an angel's fiend Bathed in lavender and gasoline Scared brave, shallow in an ink black well Lightly browned in the fires of hell Wicked, holy, full on fake Best known for my big mistake I'm Zen wise, peaceful, gone berserk Good god almighty I'm a piece of work For the rest of it go to Margaritaville.com

  • Is the Turducken proof of evolution or God?

See because it's like three different species so it's a missing link right? But it's so tasty and perfect that God had to have made it for us to be happy right?

    Happy Thanksgiving folks.

  • Does God hate mules?

Since mules are the offspring of two different animals. Is that why God made them sterile?

  • Question about evolution?

Let's say we have a species of birds. And this species of birds has blue feathers, a largish beak, and small talons. Let's call them species A. Now let's say that a competing bird moves in (species B). It's bigger and stronger but doesn't attack A, it just eats their food. In species A there's a chance that the birds will be born with a smaller beak which allows them to get into places that B can't. Over time, this trait becomes dominant because the smaller beaked birds don't have to try as hard to get food and can spend more time doing other things. So now we have species A, a blue bird with small talons and a small beak.

Would you say it's still the same species?

  • Can God be wrong?

Let's assume that God as in the God of Abraham exists. I say this with the hope of avoiding many of the seemingly necessary ,"God can't be wrong because God doesn't exist" and the like.

But can God be incorrect about something? Like God forgets to carry the one or smites the wrong infidel. Or is God completely infallible?

  • Human Sacrifice?

I thought of this last night and I don't mean disrespect but this seems a contradiction.

In addition to showing the depth of his faith, the story of Abraham and Isaac is thought to mean that human sacrifices were not pleasing to God. Because of this story Jews didn't sacrifice humans, only animals. Yet to cleanse the world of sin God sacrificed Jesus. Jesus was human. Whether or not he was more than that is up to you but the fact remains he was human. And you may say that God didn't drive in the nails but God provided Jesus as the spotless Lamb so while God didn't kill Jesus, God provided him much like God provided Abraham with the lamb to replace Isaac. It just seems inconsistent to me. Could someone clear this up for me?

  • Stages of government?

I'm looking for something I vaguely remember as being written by a philosopher that outlined the rise and fall of a Republic. It had comments about the people becoming wholly dependent on the government and how eventually the government takes over everything. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can post a link I'll really appreciate it.

  • Why doesn't God have faith in us?

The Bible is full of all sorts of tests. Abraham, Job, Revelations. Why did God make Abraham almost sacrifice his son if God knew what was in Abraham's heart? Why did God allow Job to be tormented mercilessly? You can say "God gave it all back to Job and more" But what about the psychological trauma? Why must the world go through a Tribulation before Christ comes back? Why the trial by fire if God knows whats in our hearts?

I'm looking for actualy input here not just "God doesn't exist" or "The Bible is a book of lies" or "God works in mysterious ways"

  • Why don't people ever look up things in the dictionary?

    pa·gan

–noun 1. one of a people or community observing a polytheistic religion, as the ancient Romans and Greeks.

    2. a person who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim.

    3. an irreligious or hedonistic person.

    –adjective

    4. pertaining to the worship or worshipers of any religion that is neither Christian, Jewish, nor Muslim.

    5. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of pagans.

    6. irreligious or hedonistic.

notice it says nothing about Satan, the Devil, witch craft, or any of the hundreds of other things associated with paganism. It just says polytheistic beliefs, non Abrahamic beliefs, or hedonist (pleasure seeking, not necessarily evil)

So please before people just start throwing labels around like its going out of style please look them up.

  • Question concerning the Rapture?

First a disclaimer: Personally I'm not a Christian and don't believe in the Rapture. That said I don't want any nonbelievers telling me that it isn't going to happen, etc. If you want to point game at least try to make me laugh ok? Christians, although I'm not a believer I am open minded. I'm asking this only to expand my own knowledge, any offense is purely unintentional.

So on to the question: If/When the Rapture occurs and everyone goes up to Heaven, it's my understanding that dead people will be resurrected bodily. My question is what about the people who's bodies have turned to dust? If their soul is in Heaven why do they need the body? Are they coming back to Earth after the Glorious Reappearing? Do they get a new body? Why would they want to leave Heaven to be trapped in a body again?

I know its a lot of questions but they just kind of kept coming. Thanks in advance.

  • Looking for a decent, reasonably priced, AV switch box?

I have a VCR, DVD, and PS2 all going to the same TV with one set of red, yellow, white jacks. I'd like to be able to switch between them without having to unhook and rehook everytime. I also need it to be easy enough for my fiancee to use without me coaching her.

  • Getting married in Nashville?

My fiancee and I are getting married next May and we're thinking of going to Nashville. It's kind of a compromise as she wanted Hawaii and I wanted guests but neither of us know much about Nashville. We are looking at Cedarwood to do the ceremony and reception but if anyone has any suggestions that would be cool. We'd likely have less than 50 people. Also we're looking at photographers in the area. Any suggestions along those lines would be good too. Thanks from both of us.
