  • Physics Help (forces and angles)?

Pyramid workers were often tasked with balancing large slabs of stone. Take the case of five workers, equally sharing the force to tip a stone at an angle θ above the horizontal using a light rope. (a) If θ = 18.0°, what force must each worker be exerting on the rope? (your answer will be in terms of the mass m) (b) As the angle θ increases, assuming the workers do not change the angle of the rope, does the force required by each worker increase, decrease, or stay the same? (c) What angle (θcritical) do the workers have to apply zero force to balance the slab? What happens if this angle is exceeded?

  • What is the likeliness of getting a speeding ticket reduced/taken off if I contest (details)?

A few days ago I was pulled over on a highway for going 72 mph in a 55 mph zone as detected by the officers radar gun (according to the ticket). I was on a downhill grade and slowly decelerating, but I had been in a 65 mph speed zone, and the sign that marked the reduced speed wasn't visible yet (at least from what I remembered). I intend to go back to the site where I was pulled over and confirm this, but if I contest the ticket on these grounds, what are my chances for success?

I live in Oregon, if that makes a difference. If this isn't effective, what's a better way to contest the ticket?

  • About how much does birth control cost a month without insurance?

I have health insurance (blue cross), but i'm 17 and my parents are not supportive of me wanting birth control, and won't hear my case, so I'd be paying myself without their knowledge. Also, i've never had a pelvic exam, so how much would that cost? There is a planned parenthood where I live, as well as other women's health clinics.

From research i've done by myself, the pill, the shot, or the patch seem most practical for me, so I'm asking about how much each of those would cost.

  • I need to know a place in Oregon (Salem area, preferably) who will tattoo people under 18?

    Your Question

Know any places in Salem, Oregon that will tattoo you if you're under 18?

I'm 16, and recently my cousin passed away after a long battle with lymphoma. We were very close, and have been best friends, basically brother and sister, since we were little kids. I want to get a small tattoo on my hip to commemorate him. I've been thinking about it for a while, and wanted to get it done while he was alive, but didn't get the chance. My dad approves, but in Oregon, you can't get a tattoo if you're under 18 even if you have parental approval. I'd be willing to travel outside of Salem, but I really just want this done :/

Please, I don't need to be lectured on how I'm too young to have a tattoo. I have friends with less sentimental tattoos, and I'd like to have mine done by a professional, and not just a barely trained stranger who happens to have a gun like most teenagers do.

  • Why can't I add songs to my Myspace profile playlist?

I can add songs to other playlists, but not my profile playlist, which is where I need it, since I currently have no songs on my myspace. Is there any way to fix this? Whenever I choose a song i like, I hit OK, but nothing happens. Is there any way to make a different play list the one on my myspace?

  • What does this qualify as?

My friend and I were walking across a parking lot towards a store. I'm not sure if my friend was, but I was in the cross walk. All of a sudden, we see a suburban speeding up towards us, so I have to step back quickly to avoid being hit. The car speeds past, and we then see that the girl driving is a girl that hates me and has been harassing me recently, with her friend (who has also harassed me) in the passenger seat.

Is this attempted manslaughter? If not, what does this qualify as, and if I choose, can I press charges? This was a week ago today.

  • Should I involve the police or my parents?

I'm no longer friends with them anymore (obviously) but these three girls have decided to make up a rumor that they have several dirty pictures of me that I sent to this guy that I hung out with. Fact is, I never sent him any dirty pictures, but this guy is one of the girl's ex, so they're pissed that I hung out with him even once. They've all been verbally abusive and harassed me, and I have texts to prove this. They've called me many names, and called me "stupid, dumb" and said many demeaning things.

If I could, I'd go to my parents, or the police, and tell them what's up, and get the girls in trouble for this. I'd have no problem being a narc if they got what they deserved. But, the girls know I smoked weed, and so they would go straight back to my parents and tell them this. At this point, I still wouldn't pass a drug test, so I can't do this yet. What do I do?

I feel I've been threatened, blackmailed, and harassed.

One of the girls told one of the other girls she wants to mess with my house, and the girl who she told it to is good friends with my best friend, and they were on the phone (speakerphone, so I heard everything, she just doesn't know it) and she told my best friend this. Also, about a week ago, my friend and I were in the parking lot of a grocery store, walking across towards the store (there's no actual crosswalk, just signs for cars to be prepared for pedestrian crossing), and just as were walking across, we see a car speeding up, nearly hit us, and breeze past. We then see that the person driving this car was oen of the girls, and another one of the girls was in the passenger's seat.

  • Will the insurance company revoke money given for pain and suffering if...?

I got in a somewhat serious car accident a few weeks ago. I hit a parked car, but didn't do anything wrong, so I wasn't cited. My car was totaled (it was a pretty inexpensive car), and I had a sprained wrist. My passenger had her foot up on my dashboard (possibly out the window on my side mirror, not sure) and had a cut on her leg, and that was all. We both went to the ER for X-rays and such, and are now both fine. My insurance company paid for all of both of our bills, and she didn't pay a cent. They even gave her a check for $300 dollars for pain and suffering. She's a minor, and she and her family have signed the settlement. However, now she's been verbally abusing and harassing me (I have some proof of this in texts), and lying about many things, including what happened in the accident. If I tell this to the insurance company, will anything happen? and if so, what? I have been as calm and collected through her harassment as possible. Is my only way of pursing action against her to tell the police and consider a restraining order or pressing charges?

  • What is the consequence for breaking your six months rule for your provisional license in Oregon?

I'm 16 and have had my license for about six weeks. my parents found out i broke my six months rule (can't have anyone under 21 in your car for the first six months you have your license). It is not a LAW, it is a restriction, but my parents THINK it's a law. So since I "broke the law", they said they would take my license away as the DMV sees fit, and according to them, that's 90 days for a second offense (they said i don't get a warning since I knew the rule). Is that right?
