  • Where can I donate my insulin?

I was prescribed insulin when I was pregnant. I have good insurance so it cost me very little. I didn’t need to use my last refill because I gave birth before I needed it. It’s sitting in my fridge, unopened and I don’t need it. I don’t want to throw it out because I’ve heard of people who can barely afford it.

Is there a charity I can donate it to?

I remember a cartoon that came out during the Clinton administration. It’s the dogs of several world leaders and the dogs are all superheroes. I remember it had a cartoon Bill Clinton and a cartoon Queen Elizabeth. I was talking about an episode the other day and i couldn’t remember the name.

  • Baby registry suggestions?

I’m planning my baby shower. I’m not picky on what brands I want but I’d like to create a registry so I don’t end up with 10 strollers or 20 pacifiers. Any suggestions for a website I can use but I can just write generic things like stroller, crib, carrier etc.

  • Why can’t soups with starches, pasta, flour, or dairy be canned?

I have a pressure canner and I’ve been canning soups for lunches. I’ve been reading online not to can soups that contain starches, pasta, rice, flour or dairy but it doesn’t say why. I’m just curious why?

  • Are animal clinical trials always done through the veterinary hospitals?

My in laws dog recently got diagnosed with lymphoma. He’s only 6. We can’t afford the chemo and according to the vet, the recent medication he’s been on would make chemo less effective. They agreed that if I could find a local clinical trial that that is testing on dogs they’d be willing to sign him up. The only veterinary clinical trial I found for lymphoma is currently on hold until further notice. The veterinary school agreed to contact me once it starts again.

There are several human research hospitals within a 50 mile radius of where we live. I know most drugs and treatments are tested on animals before they are tested on humans. Is the animal testing on dogs and cats done through the veterinary schools or do the hospitals do the tests themselves with the aid of veterinarians?

  • A loan that will only effect me?

I recently hit a wall with my education. I was going for my masters degree and I got kicked out due to bad grades. I was so close to finishing. I had a very stressful semester riddled with family issues and relocation. I’m determined to get my degree. The university said that I can reapply after a year but there’s no guarantee of readmission. I also talked with my academic advisor. To have a decent chance of getting back in I need to take a few classes through the extension center. My husband doesn’t want me to pursue mostly because I’m going to have to take out a private loan. I’m willing to take the risk but he isn’t. Is there anyway I can take out a loan that will only effect me and my credit but not my husband’s?

  • Organic Sauce Thickeners?

I'm trying to bottle my BBQ sauce. People love the taste but the biggest complaint I'm getting is that it's too thin and runny. I've been considering using a thickener that won't affect the taste or look.

My sauce is organic so the thickener needs to be organic as well. My sauce also gets boiled when I make it and it gets put in a pressure canner when I bottle it. So the thickener needs to be able to handle the heat as well.

    Any suggestions?

  • Not bitter stevia brands?

I've been trying to go from Splenda to stevia. My biggest problem is that I expose stevia to heat and it becomes bitter.

I know some brands won't go bitter because I've seen it used in preserves and baked goods. Which brands of stevia don't go bitter?

  • Could this be a sign of my depression worsening?

I have depression and anxiety. I've had it under control with medication for the last 4 years.

Recently a stupid event from my past keeps playing back over and over in my head. Events from my past have played back on my head before but only for a few hours or days. This has been going on for weeks.

10+ years ago I was an immature college student when I sent a guy I had a crush on a love note. I later found out he had a girlfriend. His brother sent me some nasty emails but his girlfriend and I talked it over and we laughed it off. I moved on shortly after I'm sure they did too.

I've since gotten married and I'm still happily married.

Recently that silly event keeps playing back over and over in my head and I can't figure out why. I've had no contact with the guy, he hasn't even showed up on my Facebook feed. I told my husband about the event and my husband has also brushed it off as a stupid event from my past.

The only explanation I can think of is that my depression is getting worse. Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

  • Bottling sauces in a commercial kitchen?

I have a line of sauces I want to bottle and sell at the farmers market. I found a commercial kitchen where I will do the job. The kitchen doesn't have a bottling machine but I do have a pressure canner. I was told by someone that in order to sell bottled sauces the commercial kitchen needs a bottling certificate. I can't seem to find a commercial kitchen that has a bottling certificate or mention of a bottling certificate on any public health department site. Can someone clear it up or provide more details?

  • Are these berries edible?

I just bought a house and I noticed there are a lot of "blueberry" bushes. The bushes do not lose their leaves and produce a pink flower which turns into a "blueberry." I also noticed the same bushes as part of the landscaping at a nearby shopping center. I googled blueberry bush for pictures and the leaves don t look the same. What plant is it and are the berries edible.

  • How to sell grilled chicken as a street vendor?

I'm thinking about opening up a booth at the farmers market where I'm grilling chicken and serving it with my BBQ sauce. I've grilled chicken a million at home. However I know that street vendor grilling is different than doing it at home. My home method would take too long and grilling too many ahead of time will cause it to go cold, burn, dry etc. So what is a method to grill it on the grill but have it within less than 5 minutes? I plan on serving all parts of the chicken bone in.

  • Would this count as part of the cottage food sales?

I have a BBQ sauce which I will be making and bottling at home. I ve decided to take advantage of cottage food laws. I m going to sell it at the farmers market by having a grill where I m grilling and selling chicken along with soda and water. Like most states my state has a limit to how many sales one can make with cottage food, in my state it s $50,000. I understand that the BBQ sauce falls under the $50,000. But does the chicken, soda and water also fall under the $50,000? I m not making it at home I m making it at the farmers market.

  • I'm stuck in a sticky family situation?

I tricked my parents into letting me move out when I was 25. My parents were too controlling and was becoming very depressed and suicidal. Even after I moved my parents were still pretty controlling. They kept asking me when I was going to take my MCAT and apply for medical school. I couldn't even call to say "Merry Christmas." I've since decided to pursue my MBA. My depression has gotten much better.

Two years later I got married. My parents refused to attend my wedding because they did not approve of my husband. He was a part time music teacher at the time. I told them 2 days before I got married that if they don't attend the wedding they were out a daughter. I've kept to that threat. The last time I saw my parents was a month after I got married. I left a family counselor's business card and I said I won't talk to them unless both of them see the counselor. My mom has sent me numerous texts in the last 4 years but I've ignored them all. I've told people that I'm estranged from my parents. I also moved out of town. They know which city I live in mostly due to my Facebook page.

Well a few days ago my mom texted to tell me that my dad has leukemia. I really don't want to talk to my parents. I know there is no right or wrong answer to this and it's frustrating. I don't want anymore guilt trips or to become depressed and suicidal again but at the same time I don't want to regret this. I need help.

I do come from a stereotypical strict Asian family. Sorry this is so long.

  • Vegan BBQ ideas?

I have a BBQ sauce and a vegan equivalent of it. I m going to bottle them and sell it at the local farmers market. My plan is to have 2 grills going and serve chicken on one. If people like my BBQ sauce I ll try to sell them a bottle.

Any ideas of what I can serve on the vegan grill? According to most people who have tasted my vegan sauce, it has an almost identical taste to the meat one.
