  • Do I have legal grounds to sue this agency?

I live in a rural area and all the nearby towns within reasonable travel distance are fairly small. Almost all of the major employers(manufacturing) in my area use the same local staffing agency to hire employees. I went to this agency and filled out paperwork, interviewed, tested, and took a drug screen. About two weeks had gone by and they called with a job opening. I went in to fill out more paperwork and was told it had been more than 7 days since my last drug screen and I would have to test again. This time they said I failed and that my test was positive for THC. This was an error because I haven't done drugs of any kind. I begged them to retest me and they refused. They said it was their policy to only do one test and because I failed the test that I would be ineligible to be employed with them for a period of 4 years. The only way to rectify the situation was to immediately go to industrial health and pay $70 for my own test that same day to prove that I was clean. I was currently out of work so I didn't have the money to do this. Now because I can't work for them I can't get a job at A LOT of places where I live. Every place I find that pays anything substantial uses this agency. I swear the cup/test was defective and now I have been cheated out of any chance at a decent job. This has seriously had a devastating impact on my life. Now I'm forced to search for work outside of my field of experience and having a terrible time finding work. Can I sue them for this?

  • Is this discrimination and what should I do?

I recently got a job at a facility that makes industrial chains and conveyors. Whatever the outside temp, its usually about 30 degrees warmer inside. Lately its about 80-85 degrees. The work I do is very physical and its difficult to stay hydrated and cool.

Because of the type of work there are only 5 women employed at the plant including myself. The other 4 women have been employed ranging from 1-8 yrs. All of the men wear tank tops, tshirts with cut off sleeves, and many even cut large areas out of the sides of their shirts in order to stay cool. 3 of the women wear tshirts/ tanktops and 1 cuts her shirt out on the sides and her bra is showing. As summer sets in its getting even hotter in there so I began wearing a tanktop with low sides and a sports bra underneath. A couple times I even wore a spaghetti strap tank top with a high front so there would be no cleavage or anything showing. I figured as long as my lady parts are covered it would be fine.

Somebody complained to human resources that my attire is inappropriate and now I've been told that I can't wear spaghetti strap tops or any top that shows any part of my undergarments. These other women have been dressing like this for years and there was never a problem. The only difference I can see is that they are bigger ladies and sort of manly while I'm petite. Its not possible for a girl to wear a tank top and not show some part of a bra. I feel like I'm being discriminated against and its unfair. What should I do?

  • Does anyone have a retirement gift idea?

My grandmother who is very special to me is just retired from her job. I'm going to see her soon and need gift ideas fast.

She doesn't like to leave her house unless she has to. Not even for eating or shopping so no gift card. She isn't going to be traveling at all. She is overweight and food gifts are out. She doesn't have any hobbies that I can think of. Really all she did before was work, sleep, and watch television. I don't know what she will do now. Her house is so filled with things I cringe at the thought of buying her something more to decorate it with. She doesn't need or want clothes or jewelry. I have about $70.

I have no clue what to get her.

  • Is anyone hearing strange sounds outside?

On 5/9/2012 my family and I were in Tiffin, Ohio enjoying a brief walk. The sky was mostly bright blue and sunny. There was however a single, large, storm cloud a ways outside of town. My family and I had just gotten back into our car when we heard a strange trumpet-like sound outside. We all stopped to listen.

At first I though it was a tornado siren but it was much too soft toned and continuous. It also seemed too quiet. Tornado sirens can be heard quiet loud all throughout town and this seemed to be emanating from the sky and coming from a good distance.

The sound occurred for about 45 seconds and stopped briefly. It then repeated once more. As soon as it finished the second time a massive onslaught of hail began to fall. Oddly enough we were nowhere near any clouds! There was almost no wind and he only cloud in sight was a single storm cloud which appeared to be a few miles outside of town. It was hailing and sprinkling rain in clear blue and sunny sky.

This whole thing was weird. It was also the second time I have heard such a noise. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and/or knows what it is.

  • Where can I purchase a NEW infant or child sized gas mask or respirator?

I want to purchase an infant sized gas mask or P95 or greater respirator. Child size small will be ok but infant size is preferable. I do not want some Israeli or russian crap. I especially don't want an antique from WWII. I'm hoping to find an american, modern, and possibly government issue mask.

  • Does anyone know this song?

I'm trying to figure out the title of a song that I love. I watched the video on youtube several times but can't find it anymore. In the music video a teenage boy was getting bullied at school. Eventually he like "raged" out and turned into some kind of werewolf or beast and got the bully in the woods. Then in the end the kid who was picked on got the girl and I think she was a werewolf just like him. Does this video sound familiar to anyone?

At this point I'm considereing starting up the smoking again just so I can loose weight. I'm 100 times more unhappy like this than I ever was worrying about cancer and wrinkles while I smoked. Need help bad. I need advice as to how to stop the eating.

  • What can cause a gas cloud from your toilet?

Recently my toilet water has smelled gross and almost sulfer like. It has been building up dirt faster than normal too. I always clean my toilet with SnoBowl toilet cleaner. Yesterday I squirted in the SnoBowl in and a huge gas cloud came up out of the bowl. There were no other other cleaners in the bowl at the time so I thought maybe there was a lot of ammonia from urine in the bowl. I know that mixing ammonia and bleach can cause a gas cloud.

Anyway, I've thoroughly cleaned the bowl several times and the same thing keeps happening. Now I'm thinking something hazardous could be in my water. Does anyone know what can cause this?

  • How can you determine your ideal body weight?

I don't understand how to accurately determine if I am overweight and what my ideal weight should be. According to my BMI i'm seriously overweight for my age and height.

I think determining weight is somewhat more complex for a woman than a man. Women's' breast sizes vary quite a bit and breasts can add quite abit of weight depending on their size. I'm exactly 5 feet and 2 and a half inches tall and weigh 141lbs. I wear a size 5 or size 7 pants and size large shirt. However I have a 36 DD chest.

I want to know how big an average 5'2 woman's breasts are and about how much they weigh. If I knew that I think it would help me determine how much extra weight my boobs are adding. I feel like it may be significant enough to be worth knowing. I wouldn't call myself slim but I don't think I'm fat either.

It seems unfair that breast size isn't a factor on any weight charts. Some women like me and the rest of the woman in my family tend to have larger breasts than most.

I want to know how much breast size affects your weight and how to calculate an ideal weight accurately. Please help! :)

My son is 6 years old an I am trying to get him interested in martial arts. I want to enroll him in lessons but at this point he doesn't seem very interested. I want to find karate/martial arts movies that are suitable for kids that will help him get a better idea about it and possibly peak his interest in it. So far all I cam up with was 3ninjas and the karate kid movies. I've also been letting him watch Naruto.

Does anybody else have any more suggestions?

  • How can I get my son to wash himself?

My son is 6 years old and I feel like he is old enough now to start washing himself in the tub and shower. He wants to do everything himself now too and he refuses to let me wash him anymore. The problem is that he does not actually wash himself while he is in there. All he does is play.

We've reached a point where bath time is a huge battle. He will not allow me to clean him and will not wash himself. The only parts he ever washes are his weenie and his belly. I don't want him to be dirty but I can't figure out how to get him to wash everything else. This is very frustrating. If any parents have gone through this and have any tips I would really appreciate it.

  • Is it safe to handle a red eyed tree frog while pregnant?

My son just got a red eyed tree frog for a pet. The guy at the pet store said that it wasn't poisonous and as long as my son washed his hands immediately after handling it that there shouldn't be any problems. But when I read the care instruction sheet after getting home there is a warning that the chemical secreted by the frog can cause an allergic reaction in some people. The pet store guy didn't say anything about it.

My son is only 6 and he does well holding the frog but he can't get it out of its tank. I discovered last night that the frog will climb willing onto a bare hand but is terrified if you wear a rubber glove. I can't find anything about this "chemical' online and I'm concerned about it because I am pregnant. Is it safe for me to handle this frog or not? Any info would be appreciated.

  • Can you buy note card paper for your printer?

I'm trying to salvage hundreds of old family recipes. Some of them are on paper, some are clippings, and some are on index cards. I have a recipe card template in Microsoft Office that I want to use to type them all out on. My problem now is figuring out how to print them so that they are the size of an index card. The template is perfect for this but I would like to buy some sort of printer paper that is like an index card and print them directly on it if possible. Regular paper is too flimsy.

Do they make printer paper like this? If they do what is it called and where do I get it?

I went to Staples and tried to explain what I wanted and they looked at me like I was speaking french or something. They kept showing me paper for business cards that had perforations. I need the perforations to be the size of index cards.

  • Why does the yahoo mail login screen load twice?

Whenever I go to login into yahoo the screen loads twice. The picture usually changes the second time. This is super annoying. I often start typing in my login information and then I have to backspace and type it in again because it reloads in the middle of my typing. Grrrr.

Is this happening to anybody else? Why is it doing this?

  • Why are anti-smoking adds so terrible?

An overwhelming majority of anti-smoking adds and campaigns are designed to frighten and bully smokers into quitting. They enforce an extremely negative message, enforce guilt and shame, and enforce fear. With the still massive numbers of smokers today it is obvious that these tactics do not work. Yet everyone seems to be overlooking this.

Everyone knows that the amount an individual smokes is often directly related to the amount of stress they are under. These anti-smoking adds and smoker-bashing attitudes cause overwhelming amounts of stress on smokers. For some people they may be enough to frighten or bully them into quitting. For most though, it only increases their stress levels and could quite possibly be making it harder for them to quit. Some people may refuse to quit simply because they do not want to feel like they are being forced or bullied into doing so. Fear tactics and bullying are not accepted well by the targets.

Getting the message out is no longer important. In 2011 everyone, especially Americans are fully aware of the effects and potential risks of smoking. There is overwhelming evidence to support the negative effects of smoking and non-smokers have been bashing it into our brains for years.

My question is, why are the non-smokers so narrow minded?

Maybe if they tried positive reinforcement tactics instead, they'd have greater success. There are a lot of smokers who actually want to quit and find it too difficult. Maybe if others were more supportive and encouraging about it they would be able to quit. Sometimes things boil down to confidence and mind over matter. People do better with positive criticisms, support, and encouragement. Not by inducing fear and bully tactics.

I'm a smoker. Not a day goes by that I don't wonder how much time I have taken off of my life and if I have lung/throat cancer. Even when I'm not actively thinking about it, its always in my subconscious. I've had nightmares about the cowboy with no tongue in the anti-smoking add (you know the one), and I'm down right paranoid about my health. I'm ashamed that I still smoke because I have children and yet I do not quit.

I've tried many times. Last time I tried I went 1 and a half days with no smoke and I went to visit my mother. I was feeling good about myself and proud that I was doing so well. I told her that I hadn't smoked in almost 2 days and do you know what I got? A lecture about how horrible is was that I put my kids through this, how me and my children stink, and a bunch of other crap. I ended up in tears and left. I bought a pack of smokes on the drive home. I'm emotional when I go without a cigarette and it was just too much for me to handle. I can't help but think that I might be smoke free now if I hadn't went to visit my mother that day. I plan to try again soon and I will not be visiting my mother.

I guess my point is this. Why do they still use the same tired anti-smoking tactics when they obviously do not work?

  • Does this seem normal to you?

I was browsing a parenting website and I read a post from a woman with two children. She has a 6 year old son and a 3 year old daughter who share a bedroom. She complains that she can't figure out why the 3 year old is waking up at 5-5:30 AM every morning. Apparently the 3 year old wakes up early and then proceeds to wake up her son. The boy is not getting enough sleep and it is severely affecting his behavior and performance at school.

She goes on to say that she started putting the 3 year old to bed an hour later every night to try to fix this problem. But she states that at least if the 3 year old is in bed by 6:30 PM she has one well rested child instead of no well rested child.

WHAT?? I told her that I thought she was putting her children to bed too early. I'm also assuming that she was previously putting the 3 year old to bed at 5:30 PM because she says she has started putting her to bed an hour later. The kid is getting 11-12 hours of sleep. No wonder she wakes up as early as she does.

The woman was rude to me and thought that my idea of putting the kids to bed at 8 was ridiculous. I think she's nuts and that she's trying to get too much "alone" time in the evening and is putting her kids to bed too soon. I mean, at 5:30 my family is eating dinner. LOL

Do people normally put their kids to bed this early?

  • How do you get rid of bumps at the base of your neck?

When I look at pics of myself from a few years ago, from my shoulders to my neck is flat. Now I have bulges at the base of my neck and I hate them. I look like I have a knot in my muscles right there all the time. I do not have neck, shoulder, or upper back pain so I'm not sure if its actually a knot. This has been this way for the last few years. When it gets massaged it feels really tense and hurts a little but in a good way?! LOL

Anyway, why do I have these bumps and how can I get rid of them?
