  • How likely is it that I can get tapeworms from eating Pho?

A popular Pho dish is the one with raw beef, and it gets cooked as you put it into your bowl with the hot soup. I recently had Pho for takeout and by the time I made it back home I guess the hot soup wasn't as hot as it was before. As I poured it over the raw beef, it cooked "most" of it, but not entirely. Some of the beef pieces were still pinkish and when I bit into it I could feel it was still a bit squishy and not entirely cooked. I'm not talking red and completely raw, it was mostly cooked, but the interior was still somewhat raw and pink in some of the pieces.

This was about a week ago. I also just read up that tapeworms are most likely to come from uncooked beef. And a symptom of tapeworms is that people feel very hungry more than usual. Well I feel like I've become unusually very hungry these past few days, and I rarely feel full after a meal anymore. I don't know if it's because I recently read up on tapeworms that I'm being overly paranoid now, or if my suspicions are valid. Is this worth checking out?

  • Employees who don't say "thank you" or "you're welcome"… Is common respect dying in America?

I'm 33… not that old. I try not to think of myself as that old man who talks down on today's youth and so and so. But what is it with employees who don't even have the common respect and courtesy to say a simple "thank you" or "you're welcome" (if I say thank you) after they are done serving you? Is anyone else bothered by this? If you go to Korea or Japan, I can all but guarantee you the servers over there are respectful and know when to say a simple "thank you". Why can't Americans do it?

  • Antonietta Collins on ESPN… Anyone else can't stand her?

Her looks aside, I can't stand hearing her speak on ESPN. Oh look at me I'm so cool because I speak English but when I say a hispanic person's name I will say it as if I'm speaking Spanish for only Spanish people to understand. Is it just me or is this b'tch just trying to show off? This isn't Univision.

If you have no idea who she is or are just going to google her this instant and tell me she's hot so I should just shut up, don't even bother replying. You need to hear her speak on ESPN to understand what I mean.

  • Is it creepy that my neighbor always tries to look through my window?

I live in an apartment building. My living room window is right next to the main entrance door of the building. Since my computer and work desk is right by the window, I can see who walks in and out of the building.

Most of my neighbors who walk towards the main entrance don't look through my window, which is normal. But a new tenant moved in not too long ago… he's an older guy who looks to be in his 50's and he's single living by himself. The thing that bothers me about this guy is that every time he's walking towards the main entrance, he always tries to look through my window like he's trying to see what's going on inside. He doesn't do it once in a while… it's every time he walks to the main entrance. Since I'm inside my apartment it's harder for him to see into my window than it is for me to see outside. And I see him ALWAYS trying to peer through my window, even when my blinds are halfway tilted! It's kind of creeping me out and sometimes I want to confront him and ask him "what the f'ck do you keep looking through my window for??" Also I'm not some hot young chick, I'm a grown man in my 30's. So I'm wondering why the hell this guy is always trying to look through my window?

Am I flipping out or am I justified in thinking this guy's a creep?

  • What do you think Star Wars Ep. 7 should be about?

I love the original Star Wars but I'm not a huge Star Wars geek and I'm not familiar with the expanded universe.

But lately I've read the first book from Legacy of the Force and I thought it was great. Personally, I think a story about Jacen Solo and Lumiya would be the perfect continuation. Maybe even some references about Darth Vectivus.

    What are your thoughts?

  • Does it bother you when people turn on their phones in a movie theater? Even if they're not texting or talking?

The big deal with cellphones is that people don't like to hear the ringtones whether it's a call or a text.

But what about the light? Does the light from their phone distract you from concentrating on the big screen?

  • Why does Gmail automatically format my text in an email when I don't want it to?

I just replied to a very important email that was sent to me. All I needed to do was reply with my name, cell number, and a list of other things that I agreed to. However when I look at the email I sent, Google automatically formatted my text as if it was a signature and made the text all gray. It really pisses me off because now I don't know if that's how the recipient will see it (they don't have gmail). Or, they might be confused and not see anything at all. And if I resend it they might think I'm retarded and don't know how to use email or something. Why the f'k does google do this??

  • What constitutional and/or ethical rights does a US or Canada border patrol agent have to snoop through your cell phone?

I'll just say it: Those a'holes at the Canada border really pissed me off.

I had to go to Canada from Michigan. At the border booth the guy started asking me questions like a robotic interrogation machine right from the start. Who am I seeing, what's his name, where does he live, how do you know him, how long have you known him, where are you meeting him, for what purpose, how long is your stay and on and on. Maybe it was the venti iced coffee with espresso I drank from Starbucks, but with the caffeine in my system and the fact that I totally felt like I was being grilled and had a 3 second timer to answer every question he was spraying at me, naturally I felt nervous and perhaps didn't answer my questions cleanly enough to the officer's liking. So after 10 minutes of grilling, he writes me up a yellow slip and makes me go to the inspection station.

This is where things get worse. Two agents approach me and start asking me the same questions. Who, what, where, why, how, when, with subcategories of a,b,c,d,e,f,g,to infinity. Again, I'm still hopped up from caffeine but here comes the interrogation again, which obviously is making me uncomfortable. Add to the fact that these two agents are now searching my car snooping through everything, even ask me to unlock my phone so one of the s'theads starts snooping through my phone and everything in it. That's the part that totally pissed me off. What right does this f'cker have to search my cellphone and into my private life?

  • Why is it okay to positively label a group of people but not okay to negatively label them?

I've often wondered this. You can say an entire group of people (whether ethnic or religious or whatever) are kind and friendly, or business savvy, or very generous and so on. These may be kind things to say, but they are no less stereotypical than saying negative things about them. Yet people only complain once you say negative things.

For instance nobody would bat an eyelash at me if I said black people are very festive or athletic. But if I said black people are very loud an obnoxious, people would try to throw bricks at me. Yet those two statements are no less stereotypical than the other. But it's only when you make a negative label people say it's wrong. In order to be consistent with that logic, it should also be wrong to stereotype and label people even if you were to say good things. So why the one-sidedness and inconsistency?

  • Is it rude to yawn immediately after someone begins talking to you?

Like the person will start talking to you and your immediate reaction, even while they're still talking to you, is to yawn. Is that rude?

  • Whenever there's a topic of racial insensitivity, why are there always white people who say it's no big deal?

I see it time and time again whenever an article pops up on the internet about racial insensitivity. The predominantly white caucasians will flood the comment boards and say something along the lines of "ZOMG what's the big deal people need to take a joke blah blah blah!!"

Don't get me wrong I'm not about being PC and I absolutely hate Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. I'm not even a Democrat. But there are times where something is blatantly racist and it warrants criticism, yet there are always what seems to be your plain American white people who will act like they are the judges of what is deemed racist or not. And 99% of the time nothing is racist to them and we all need to chill out.

Of all people, wouldn't you think white people should be the last people to act like the moral barometer of racism? With all due respect, if you're white living in America (or basically anywhere else except Asia) you have no idea what discrimination, racism, and negative stereotyping feels like. So why do white people still act like they can dictate what is racially offensive or not?

  • What do you call a person who lies vehemently for deceitful and selfish reasons, and will shamelessly defend it no matter what?

Pathological liars lie constantly with no rationale or motive behind it. It's kind of like a psychological problem they have. But I am not talking about pathological liars.

What do you call someone who lies in order to get something he wants, or to deny any wrongdoing? And this person will defend his lie at all costs, no matter what, even to the point that he would rather have you apologize back to him for questioning his lie and he would not feel the least bit bad about it as long as his lie held up. This person is so shameless that even if he knew that you knew he was lying, he would still look at you straight faced and still lie right through his teeth. This person would not care one bit to throw you or someone else under the bus in order to uphold his lie. I am talking about a real piece of shlt here. If upholding his lie meant someone would die as a result, he would STILL lie. That is how selfish and messed up this person is. He simply doesn't care about anything but himself, and he will lie at all costs to get what he wants.

What type of liar is that person? Is there an official name for it?

  • Why are Koreans racist against their own people if they don't know how to speak Korean… in America?

I'm always asked the same question by older Korean fobs like the ajumas and ajashis. They'll ask me in Korean: "Why don't you know how to speak Korean? A Korean should know how to speak Korean!" (I know very little Korean, but enough to understand a few things)

It's such a stupid question because:

    1. It's not my fault if I don't know how to speak Korean. I was raised by parents who speak fluent English and only spoke to me in English. So how can I help it if I was raised only speaking English?

    2. We're in f-ing America, not Korea. So why is the burden on me to know how to speak Korean?

Even though I'm American I try to honor my Korean ethnicity but sometimes it's hard when I can't appreciate the attitude of traditional Koreans.

For instance I'll walk into a Korean restaurant and the Korean owners or waiters will greet me with a smile, bow and be respectful, but the second I open my mouth and they realize I don't speak Korean, they go totally 180 and treat me like I'm some sort of freak. The politeness goes away and they just give me a cold attitude. And they'll also give me poor service as if to say I'm not Korean enough to deserve better service. Like they'll automatically give me ice water instead of the hot bodiccha, or if I do takeout, they won't even put in a side of kimchi (something they normally always do). They'll even treat me worse than caucasians and other races because they know I'm Korean but don't speak Korean. I mean, wtf is their problem??

  • Is it okay to have a beer after working out?

I worked out about 5 hours ago (boxing and a lot of conditioning). I don't want to get smashed I just want to kick back and have a beer or two. Will this have any negative effect on my muscle recovery/growth or my conditioning and cardio?

    Thanks.

  • Coolest forgotten toys of the early 90's!?

I remember having some cool toys back in the early 90's but I can't remember the names of them.

    1. One was a line of spaceships and vehicles. There was a large mothership if I'm not mistaken and it can open and close and hold smaller spaceships or vehicles inside. I think you could also attach smaller spaceships/vehicles on the exterior of it as well. I believe they were electronic too (moving parts).

    2. Another one was a line of action figures, kind of like GI Joe knockoffs but the main theme was they had zip lines that you can attach from one point to another and they glide down the line.

    3. I also remember these small fighter jets that were connected to rings you can wear on your fingers. So if you wanted to play with them like they were flying you just wear them on your fingers. Very simple but they were fun.

Anyone remember the names of these toys?

What were your favorite forgotten toys of the early 90's?

Remember the Crash Test Dummies toy that came with the car? That was one of my favorites.

  • Do cats or dogs get headaches? How can you spot it?

I've often wondered this. I get chronic severe headaches… to the point they might be migraines. And I get them out of nowhere. The good thing is I can treat my headaches with painkillers like advil or tylenol.

I just wonder if cats or dogs can get headaches then how can you spot it? And what would cause it? And how do you treat it? I'd hate for my cat to experience the pain I experience while I'm completely oblivious to it and can't do anything to help it.
