  • Craps Game Probability?

I don't usually ask for help on math problems but I am truly stumped on this one.

In a game of craps, you roll two fair dice. Whether you win or lose depends on the sum of the numbers occurring on the tops of the dice. Let x be the random variable that represents the sum of the numbers on the tops of the dice.

What is the probability distribution of these x values (that is, what is the probability that x = 2, 3, etc.)? (Round your answers to three decimal places.)

    Probability of x=2?

    Probability of x=3?

    Probability of x=4?

    Probability of x=5?

    Probability of x=6?

    Probability of x=7?

    Probability of x=8?

    Probability of x=9?

    Probability of x=10?

    Probability of x=11?

    Probability of x=12?

  • How do i calculate pH from this titration problem without a pKa?

Calculate the pH during the titration of 30.00 mL of 0.1000 M KOH with 0.1000 M HBr solution after the following additions of acid:

    A.) 0 mL

I'm just trying to solve for A for now. It should be Ka=[H3O+][Br]/[HBr] but i dont have a Ka or a pKa.

  • Do we need a purpose in life?

I got in a big argument with some of my friends last night about the purpose in life. My friends told me that everyone needs a purpose in life to live, but I don't have a purpose in life, I'm happy with just existing. What do you guys think?

  • Do alkaline cells (batteries) use salt bridges?

A salt bridge is what completes the circuit between a cathode and an anode. Does that mean the device that is connected to the battery (e.g. cd player) acts as the salt bridge?

  • Help on this Physics question please?

I thought I knew how to solve this problem...

Yusef pushes a chair of mass m = 55.0 kg across a carpeted floor with a force Fp of magnitude Fp= 152 N directed at 35.0 degrees below the horizontal . The magnitude of the frictional force between the carpet and the floor is Ffr = 106 N.

here are the equations I made but I could be wrong

    X component: Fp*cos(35)-Ffr=ma

    Y component: FN-FG- Fp*sin(35)=ma

    I know acceleration for y is 0. and FG=m*g

  • Why must we refrain from satisfying our physical desires?

Our existence as life forms is not eternal, why do many such as Tolstoy, Buddha, and Schopenhauer believe that we may never satisfy our physical demands and that we must not succumb to them?

  • Schopenhauer's will to live?

Please correct me if I do not understand this wrong.

Schopenhauer's idea of will is that when we as humans try to think of the purpose in life, we may come to conclusions that there is no purpose in life. But when we come to this conclusion, we believe in no purpose in laws in nature or laws in the universe, that there is no objective to anything in nature.

Thus when we reject objectivity in the universe, we reject the universe and therefore come to the conclusion that what we perceive as reality is pointless and nothingness. But the fact that we are afraid of this nothingness means that we still have a will to live and that we know nothing of this universe other than our own desire to survive.

phew! that took alot of thinking, did I understand Schopenhauer's concept of will?
