  • Should I put stuff from my fridge into the freezer for a power outage?

My power is going to be out for 12 hours tomorrow and I won't be home all day. Before I leave, should I put the meat and cheese that is in my fridge into my freezer so it won't go bad, or is that a bad idea?

  • How long does it take to winterize a car at Firestone or somewhere else?

If I take my car in to a Firestone to get a "Winter-ready car care package", which includes oil change, tire rotation, electrical system check, and 14. pt. vehicle inspection, how long should it take? An hour? Two? All day? More than a day?

    Thanks for your help

  • Can someone help with this?

John has purchased a large cow-calf ranch. This ranch is located south of Billings, Montana, and is comprised of 80 percent federal land and 20 percent deeded land. He will be operating this livestock enterprise by himself with only the occasional “day “ help at branding and gathering. What type of business structure should John employ and why?

Limited liability? S corporation? Something else?

I have been trying to figure this one out for a while and am not sure due to the fact that the land is federal/deeded.

  • Question about shipping?

Hi, I was wondering how long it would take a package to get from Madrid, Spain to El Paso, Texas? I have no idea how my friend is going to ship it (like what service he will use) but does anyone know a general time span that it could take? It is probably just a five pound box. I am expecting him to ship it by March 20, does anyone know if I will get it by May 3rd?

  • Quick question about something in my room?

Hi, I live in an apartment complex and my bedroom is right next to a utilities/maintenance closet...the vent right next to that wall runs 24/7 and is SO loud and annoying. I can't even tell what the noise is but I had a maintenance man come in and he basically said I just have to deal with it or find a way to make it to where I cannot hear it. So, I was wondering if I could put duct tape over it to see if that would cover the noise. I ask because I don't know if this could start a fire or pose any other problems. Also, any other ideas would be welcome. Thanks for your input!

  • Serious question about public restrooms.?

So one of my fears is using the bathroom (#2) when my roommates are in our apartment. This leads to me having to hold it which, as you probably know, is not good. I was wondering where a good public place to go to when I have to do my business would be besides like a restaurant. For example, all I can think of is a hotel lobby bathroom, though those are usually pretty nasty. I am being totally serious too, and don't tell me to just go in our apartment because I can't - it is a huge phobia of mine and yes I will seek counseling but until then what am I supposed to do? Does anyone have any suggestions of where I should go?

  • Basic genetics questions?

You crossed a petunia plant with red flowers to a petunia plant with white flowers. the seeds from this cross produced plants that all had red flowers. When the seeds obtained by selfing these plants were grown, the plants produced either red flowers or white flowers in the ratio 3:1. Based on protein analysis, an enzyme called "protein A" was isolated from the red flowers. This protein was not present in the white flowers.

How would you determine the number of copies of this gene in the genome of petunia? Do you think you will find some form of this gene in the white flowered petunia plant?

What experiments would you do to determine if this gene is transcriptionally or translationally regulated at an organ/cell-specific manner?

Knowing what you know, can you design an experiment to validate that the gene you have isolated does encode for a protein that has a function in red pigment synthesis (petunia can be transformed)?

If you know any of those, could you answer and maybe explain why? I am lost on this one which my professor considers "basic", so maybe I am missing something simple. Thanks!

Give the genotype with regards to flower color for the plants: parentals, F1, and F2s.

How would you isolate the gene for protein "A"?
