    Buying a new computer. Have a Sony SDM-HS74P (LCD) purchased a few years ago. Works great, but afraid of life span. Is it worth $$ to buy a new monitor although this one works fine? thanks!!

  • Non-gamer with memory question?

    Purchasing new computer. While not a gamer I use some apps (Super Poke Pets - it's like Yorkville or that Farm one) that take a lot of (?) memory and freeze my system.

    QUESTION: Is 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz (2 DIMM) enough? Should I upgrade (for $40) to 3GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz (2 DIMM) . I really DON'T think I need 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz (2 DIMM).

  • What's your opinion on Sony Cyber-shot cameras? Or similar EZ to use cameras?

    I'm looking for low-priced (under $150) point-n-shoot and would prefer another cybershot to replace mine. I welcome alternate choices... have found Nikon Coolpix that looks ok???

  • My email is all fubared! Weird stuff - HELP!?

    I use sbcglobal.net and yahoo is my default email. Didn't login yesterday but today it's all weird. First the email was all on the right in BIG letters. After trying to find a way to fix it I now only get a page that says

    These important words that populate the emails during patriotic holidays remind us of what our brave forefathers endured for our freedom and our right to Indepence. We would do well to remember these words year-round...

    On July 4th, 1776, fifty-six men signed a document declaring

    their views and beliefs on how a people should be governed.

    Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men

    who signed the Declaration of Independence?

    Five signers were captured by the British as traitors,

    and tortured before they died.

    Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

    Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army,

    another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died

    from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

    They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes,

    and their sacred honor.

    What kind of men were they?

    Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants,

    nine were farmers & large plantation owners; men of means, well educated. But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

    Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader,

    saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy.

    He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

    Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced

    to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding.

    His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

    Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer,

    Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

    At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted

    that British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home

    for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington

    to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

    Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.

    The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

    John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying.

    Their 13 children fled for their lives.

    His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste.

    For more than a year he lived in forests and caves,

    returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

    A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart.

    Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates.

    Such were the stories and sacrifices of the American Revolution.

    These were not wild eyed, rabble-rousing ruffians.

    They were soft-spoken men of means and education.

    They had security, but they valued liberty more.

    Standing tall, straight, and unwavering, they pledged:

    "For the support of this declaration,

    with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence,

    we mutually pledge to each other,

    our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor."

    They gave us a free and independent America.

    The history books never told you a lot of what happened

    in the Revolutionary War.

    We didn't just fight the British. We were British subjects at that time

    and we fought our own government!

    Some of us take these liberties so much for granted...

    We shouldn't.

    So, take a few minutes this 4th of July holiday

    and silently thank these patriots.

    It's not much too ask for the price they paid.

  • Can you over-stretch your neck? and How?

    I recently had a cortisone shot from my neurologist for pinched nerves in my neck. I was pretified and almost canceled appt. It maybe helped a little.

    I rescheduled an appt. and upon asking if another shot might helpp, (who didn't ask me a thing) said that I'm overstretching my neck. He said I have a short neck? (i have short everything)

    I'm 55 - for years I've heard that slowing excersizing your neck around is a GOOD thing. My chiropractor gave me neck excercises to do?

    I'm at my wits end. Please give me your opinions.

  • Neurologist/Pain specialist: not Quack, but questionable practices? Your thoughts needed.?

    Putting question 1st, cuz post is too long:

    He told me I'm STRETCHING MY NECK TOO MUCH - rotating it to ease the muscles is "the reason the cortisone shot isn't working." He gave me another script (always only good for 1 month) and said I should come back in 2 weeks and then maybe another shot would help.

    After 40 yrs of headaches, neck & shoulder pain, I made an appt after hearing a commercial for a Pain Management center; the dr. was in my insurance program & a certified neurologist.

    He's from Spain so have some communication problems. He gave me a nerve test, gave me a script for muscle relaxers (which helped) & sent me for a MRI. The MRI showed "many pinched nerves" in my neck.

    I had a cortisone shot in my neck two weeks ago. Not sure It helped? Maybe - wishful thinking, or it was the numbing agent. I don't think it really helped. I saw him today to see if another shot might any difference; if not I need a new direction.

    Most patients seem workman's comp. Thoughts?

    I use permanent (dark auburn) hair color. I'd like to add a rinse that would add some more vibrant highlights.

  • Free stock/investment software question?

    Is there a free software program / online site where I can paper-trade (pretend) to buy and sell stocks and see how I would do if it were real money? For example, start with $10,000 and buy/trade stocks over a period of time?

    I'm trying yahoo finance but have only found how to track buys, without a way to track over time buying and selling.

    Are these two different hotels? Aparthotel Citadines Ramblas and Citadines Barcelona Ramblas ? I found conflicting reviews but when I search for Citadines Barcelona Ramblas, the other one comes up (with not great reviews)???

    Looking for one night stay before cruise on Dec. 2/3. Would like to be close to Cruise Port and would like a grocery store very close.

  • Prozac stopped working for me after a few years?

    I've been miserable. I thought it was cuz they switched generic brands; then I had some legit crap in my life;

    Now I've realized the medicine just isnt working for me anymore. We've upped the dosage but it made no difference. I stopped seeing the therapist 3 years ago when the medicine started working. Now my internist prescribes for me.... what should I do?

  • Cat "pimple" question?

    Just picked a little scab off (long-hair) cat's tummy and underneath was (what I would call) a pimple? He rolled over so I could scratch, but when I tried to 'pick' at pimple he didn't like it... (there may be more). Didn't look like a bug --- it looked (and felt) like a scab.

    Any idea what I'm dealing with? Just common skin problem? If so, what do I use to help him? If VET is in your answer, sorry, I don't have $hundreds so they can test him for a million different things, etc etc.

    I love my kitty with all my heart, but one trip to vet for something simple is always over $100.

  • Shooting pains from stiches??

    Has anyone ever had (for lack of a better word) 'shooting' pain from recent stiches?

    In May I had major surgery that left me with two 4 inch scars. Occasionally (3 pr 4 times since May) I've experienced a shooting pain in one spot.... like an electrical jolt or something.

    Even I think this is a weird question, but has anyone experienced something similar?

  • Was today just a strange day?

    It's a beautiful summer Tuesday at the end of July. But from the time I opened my eyes this morning I was crabby. The weatherman on the radio was talking about being cranky and 'can't wait til the weekend' (NOT a great thought on a Tuesday). Our usually happy receptionist was on the crabby side. Everyone seemed a bit off....... ????

    Anyone else go thru this today?
