  • Lowering CPU Voltage?

I have an i7-930 at 1.25V. Three questions:

Does lowering the voltage decrease performance, such as hardcore gaming?

    Does it prolong service life?

Will it lower the CPU temperature?

I plan on lowering it to 1.00 V ~ 1.05V. Is this stable? I have not stress-tested this yet...

  • What is wrong with my printer and/or settings?

I'm using Windows XP. I set up my PC with HP LaserJet 4100 Multifunction Printer. But everytime I print something, the last line is always missing, event pictures have a missing bottom. Documents are also missing one line from the bottom, no matter what I print. I've tried to change paper size, and shrink the picture to about 50% of its original size, but it just won't work. Any idea?

  • What is wrong with my new built computer?

I just got my brand new graphic card yesterday. It's a EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 240. I pushed it into the PCI-E 2.0 slot, then turn it on. Every componet was on for a few seconds, then everything shuts down. The machine restarts again, without me pressing the power button, the same thing happens. The third time it starts, the machine successfully start, but the graphic card doesn't start with it. No fan, no heating up. Just all the fans starting up in the machine. The chassis, the CPU, the one in the PSU. Can anyone tell me what exactly is wrong with my new built computer? The motherboard, or is it something else. I'm pretty sure the CPU isn't having a problem. The graphic card does not have a separate power supply. And I've tried 6 different graphic cards from my friends. No luck. Please help!

    Mobo: ASUS P6T

    CPU: Intel i7

    PSU: SilverStone OP 650 (650W)

P.S. Please do not tell me to reset the BIOS, CMOS, or put in a installation driver or anything involving using the monitor. For your information, It's a NEW BUILT, not something I bought off the shelf! I've gotten responses like "Bring the computer back to the builder". Dudes! I built it!

Should I just go to a repair shop, and let them check what's wrong?

  • Help me decide on a new graphic card!?

I decided to get a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT since my previous graphic card was fried (or imcompatible, I'm not sure). It was a ASUS EAH4650. How can I tell if this graphic card can work for my ASUS P6T motherboard without trying it out after buying it? I've already wasted some money on the previous one, and I don't want this to happen again. The ASUS motherboard has 2 PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots, and 1 PCI-Express 2.0 x4 slot. If this card doesn't work, do you have any suggestions?

Also, please answer these questions if you'd like to:

    1. Why did my previous card fry? Is it even fried, or is it just incompatible? It worked for the first few minutes. It was pulling power directly from the slot, no supplementary power supply. Is that the problem?

    2. What is the difference between a DDR2 memory or a DDR3 memory on the graphic card? Does it make a difference with compatibility?

I do some minor video editing, but I'm not interested hardcore gaming. Nor am I interested in 3D or SLI.

Any suggestions? I would like one that is $60 - $80. That's my budget...

  • What is wrong with my graphic card?

I had a new computer built a few days ago. My graphic card started acting up yesterday. It use to work before, boots up alright. But now, every time I try to boot the computer up, the system restarts, and the graphic card doesn't boot on the second computer start.

    SPECS:

    CPU: Intel i7 930

    MoBo: ASUS P6T

    PSU: 650w

Graphic Card: ASUS EAH 4650 (ATI Radeon HD 4650) (Low Profile, doesn't have power connector.)

The card still gets warm during the first bootup, so the electricity is going through, but not the second time it starts. Is it because the graphic card is incompatible, fried, or just not enough electricity since it doesn't have it's own slot for power? It should not a problem with the PSU or the Mobo. I've tried using the jumper on my mobo to erase the CMOS settings, but no luck.

P.S. The mobo doesn't have a integrated graphic solution...

    Any help?

P.P.S. It's a new home-built computer. I didn't even put a operating system in yet! Without the graphic card, I can't do anything. So do not tell me that I need to change my operating system or remove my old graphic card or upgrade the BIOS because I CAN'T!

P.P.S. Changing a software or remove my old graphic card or installing a driver is not an option! Please don't ask me if I can boot up the BIOS, cause I don't know. It's a Q&A anyway. I'm suppose to be the one asking the question...
