  • How do I change the info on a microchip?

On one of my dogs, my old vet did the implanting. Since then I have moved. I don't even know what info is on the chip.

My other dog has a microchip that was put in by her rescuer's vet, registered to her. We don't even live in the same area. About 8 hours apart.

    How do I update these?

  • How much Benedryl can I give my dog?

I don't know if I'll give her any, it scares me without a vet's say-so. I'm just wondering if anyone knows. She is a mini schnauzer weighing about 18-20 lbs. She is itching uncontrollably and losing hair. She's scratching to almost bleeding.

We have a vet appointment tomorrow morning, but the poor thing is suffering so much. I'd like to let her at least be comfortable. The vet won't tell me over the phone, understandably.

Please no rude comments. I'm just curious if anyone knows for sure.

  • Anyone educated in nutrition/allergies?

Hi, When my mini schnauzer was about a year old, she developed allergies. Itching, loss of hair, etc. The vet said fleas, but I couldn't find any. I know vets aren't very trained in nutrition. So I switched her food from Royal Canin to Natural Balance potato & duck grain-free and her fur grew back beautifully. No more itching. Now, she's 3 years old and it's come back full force, only worse. Again, the vet said fleas, can't find any. She's losing lots of hair from chewing on her outside thighs and licking her paws.

I know some schnauzers have sensitive skin.

I'm thinking of switching to Wellness Core or Wellness Simple. Does anyone have any experience with this food or allergies like this? Is there a better food?

I'm about to start pulling MY hair out!

  • How do you make that fatal decision to put your dog down?

She's a 17 yo chi/terrier. Fragile & rickety. She takes a few steps & can't walk anymore. She's lost bladder control. She's got 3 beds & lots of blankies so I do a lot of washing, which I do not mind, but it is getting old. At this point I'd say "put her down", BUT I think it's about quality of life. She's very alert, wags her tail ferociously and smiles at me. So she's still got a lot of spunk!

The vet tells me it is up to me. I just don't think being old without bladder control should be a death sentence.

I know you can't tell me what to do, but I am just asking for opinions if you were in this situation.

Please no mean comments. I really love her and want to do what's right for HER.

  • does anyone know how serious "black mold" is? Is it okay to just paint over it?

It's around the window over my bed. I've been feeling really sick, but when I stay at a friend's house, I feel better. Any suggestions?

  • What does it mean when someone "pokes" you on Facebook?

My sister keeps poking me and we never speak to each other, despite living in the same town. It's been like this for years. She knows how to contact me. When we are face to face she treats me like I'm the last person on earth she'd like to talk to. She basically treats me like ****. So what does this poking mean?

  • how can I train my dog from nipping?

She's 50 lbs and 1 year old. She gets so excited while playing she nips & pinches. Yesterday she drew blood from my friend who thankfully is still speaking to me. I've been calming her down before it gets to that point, but yesterday it happened so fast! Does anyone know of a technique that would help stop this behavior? She gets plenty of excercise & socialization.

  • Is eucalyptus dangerous or poisonous to dogs if eaten?

My neighbor's tree is huge and dropped a lot of twigs/balls into my yard last night. (It was very windy). Now my dogs keep trying to chew on them. I know the "nuts" from the eucalyptus are good for getting rid of fleas, but I don't know the properties of the other parts. The "balls" are not the "nuts" (I'm not trying to be obscene or anything, just don't know what to call them, as I don't have the proper name). The little balls are oblong and are in clusters on the branches. Are they just immature nuts? Anyway, the dogs are trying to eat them. Does anyone know if they are harmful to dogs?

  • HELP! What can I do about a year old dog that's destroying my house?

She is a 1 year old pit bull that won't stop chewing my house apart. She's chewed my shoe, boot, throw rugs, smaller dogs beds, etc. Tonight takes the cake, though. She completely destroyed my Persian rug so it is no longer usable. I fell apart in tears. She does this whether I'm here or not. Of course when I'm home I catch her in the act and she stops. But when I'm gone...

  • Why is my mini schnauzer chewing and losing her fur?

She is 2yo. Vet said fleas, Advantage...no help. For the past several months she has been eating Natural Balance L.I.D. w/no grain...no change. It's just getting worse. Help! before I start pulling my own hair out. Has anyone else had this problem? It is not "schnauzer bumps".
