  • Law school professors and students: All wood or blue?

Which citation manual is preeminent today in the nation's law schools, the Bluebook or ALWD? If you can, please answer in any or all of these three areas: quantitatively (number or estimated number of schools that prefer or require one or the other); qualitatively (which one the best schools in the country tilt to; and dynamically (today's stats notwithstanding, is there a clear trend moving to—or away from—one or the other).

Totally unrelated to the above question: Which one do you personally prefer over the other, and why?

    Thanks very much.

  • Can you list all the websites you know of that offer rooms, cottages, apts. and so on for rent in the U.S.?

I know there are tons already and new ones everyday, and just can't keep up with them all. If you know any, however established or new or obscure, please let me know. Right now, I'm looking specifically for Miami Beach, but welcome any for any area of the country. Thanks so much.

  • Can anyone identify the building in Havana in this picture?

It's on the cover of the new book, "The Sugar King of Havana: The Rise and Fall of Julio Lobo, Cuba's Last Tycoon"--the tall building on the left. A picture can be found at http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://ecx.ima... If that doesn't work, just google "The Sugar King of Havana." I've been wrong on three guesses, so I give up. Thanks so much.

  • Adult seeks "green" gift for 13-year-old. Help!?

I'm attending a bar mitzvah soon for a kid who is very much into environmental issues, and I'd like my gift to be in this area. He lives in New York City, Upper West Side, a stone's throw from Broadway (up there), so he's a sophisticated urbanite--as sophisticated as one can be at 13. If possible, I want to get him something other than money or a donation to some cause or another or a gift card or anything electronic, video or computer related. I'm figuring $50 to $100. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Eggnog: alcohol taste without the alcohol?

I'm making a large batch of eggnog for a New Year's Eve party, and want to make a smaller one for those who don't drink. What can I include in the nonalcoholic bowl that will approximate the taste of the alcohol in the larger bowls? (I use bourbon and a smaller amount of dark rum, but anything will do.) Maybe something like almond extract or something similar--but that's just a guess. On the other hand, am I painting the lily? Would just the milk, cream, eggs and so on taste just fine by themselves? Thanks.

  • What's a good book about the history of Afghanistan?

I'm looking for a good, comprehensive, general history of Afghanistan. I'd prefer something relatively new--but something within the last 40 years or so that's very good trumps that! A good read is always welcome, but, again, I want to learn about Afghanistan comprehensively, and that criteria trumps a good read. Length doesn't scare me, although I probably want to avoid multi-volume, unless there's a very good reason to get it. Answers, please, from those who really know what they are talking about. Thanks so much.
