Making a multi-bean soup. They seem hard. Is this normal?

I soaked mixed beans overnight to make a soup. I slowcooked them for 4 hours. The kidney beans are soft. The others are a little hard. SHould I cook them longer

Someone asked what I am making. It is a new recipe:

multi-beans

chicken broth

can spaghetti sauce

kikkoman japanese instant broth (packets)

salt/pepper

water

    Dried beans take a long time to cook.

    If you want to speed it up, you can transfer to a kettle & boil them.

    Next time, get them to the boiling point before putting in the slow-cooker, and don't lift the lid!

    Yes, cook them longer and in the future soak them overnight and then also simmer them before adding to your slowcooker. I think dry bean directions are pretty general and you need to tweek them.

    Yes, cook them longer. Don't add salt until done because it will make them tough. I've had to cook beans two-three hours longer when adding salt too soon. Learned my lesson.

    Just keep cooking them, they will soften up. My mom usually soaks dried beans for a couple hours before cooking them so they soften a little before she actually cooks them.

    Yes, cook them until all the beans are tender.
