Why is it that men grill but women are the ones who cook in the kitchen?

Just curious what people think, yes, I know some men do the cooking too lol but in general its been this way for thousands of years lol

Update:

Wow! It was just a friendly question met with some hostility! I am a female, I cook and have no problem grilling, or cooking on a campfire or whatever lol I also where long skirts 24/7 and have never burnt down my house ;) lol Like it or not it has been the general rule for thousand of years( not from the media but from observing EVERYONE ) I'm proud to be a woman who cooks for her family, and proud to say that's my job. Yes my hubby will cook from time to time but not because he HAS to lol

Men like to grill. It's outside, and involves fire. And women usually encourage them to do it, because everything else for the meal is cooked in the kitchen, and you can't be in two places at once. Though, obviously, of course, both men and women grill, as well as cook in the kitchen.

I am not sure why you think this way. Although the media portrays it this way I know many women who grill and many men who cook. I think it is just what you are seeing in the media not actual fact. Plus many women do not like dealing with the charcoal or smoke etc that a grill entails and they simply have a hard time navigating the grill.

because you are just too cowardly to go grill!!

I grill, I bake, I roast, I cook on campfire! I cook in dutchovens.

My husband of 40 years knows much better than to ever come into contact with fire, fireplace, grill, oven, stove!! He can make peanut butter sandwiches, but otherwise stays the h*** out of my "kitchens"!!

My son and one son in law are the cooks in their houses.

Their wives are hopeless, but fact is their wives just don't like cooking.

my brother is a sheer genius in kitchen or on grill. His wife is a nurse and flatly doesn't have time or energy to cook even coffee!

And NO!! that is NOT the general rule and not how it has been for thousands of years!! Women cook! Women used to catch their skirts and aprons on fire on campfires. More women were killed that way in the migration from east coast to west coast than you can even imagine! That is why there were so few of them in gold camps. They just didn't survive the trail.

generations before that women burned up because of the fire places they cooked in!! their skirts caught fire!

  • I do a lot of cookng in the kitchen because my girlfriend deserves a break from all the years she spent cooking for her four kids before we met. I always did the grilling, but I think my girl is always "smokin". :)

Being able to build a fire somehow stokes a man's sense of self esteem. He would prefere to think that there are some things that women need help with so he can feel more manly. Also I think that fire has some attraction for men.

generally when you think of grilling you think of : steaks, sausage, burgers, hotdogs, and other meats

when asking a man what are some of his favourite foods he would think generally meats. most meats are grilled hense
