how to make a tuna sandwich?

I am not a young person but I have never made a tuna sandwich. Always had them when eating out. Now that I am retired I would like to make some of these items I used to have for lunch. What I already have is bread & butter (also Can't Believe it's not butter). I have 120 gr tin of tuna and I have mayonnaise. I have various other items e.g. wasabe, horseradish, ( ketchup but I really don't care much for ketchup and only keep it for a friend), mustard, green relish and cucumber. I am asking because I really don't want to start experimenting and wind up throwing everything out.

Update:

So far, with one exception, you have treated my question as though I was an idiot - check my status I'm a 7. I will wait for more responses. You should know that even most 'idiots' or challenged individuals do know how to put two slices of bread together and they also know how to open cans. I do realize I asked a simple question I was not aware that simpletons would be responding. Perhaps someone who works in a restaurant or cafeteria may be kind enough to respond.

The first thing to do is drain the can of tuna. Do this whether it's in oil or saltwater, then add the drained tuna to a bowl or measuring jug. Add a spoonful of mayonnaise and mash it into the tuna. The tuna might be in one big lump so you need to break it up a bit to get a good consistency.

Add more mayonnaise if necessary and repeat until you have a nice combination of tuna and mayonnaise. The exact ratio of tuna to mayo varies because some people like more than others. While you mash the mayo and tuna together, you can also add other ingredients but this is up to you because simply tuna and mayo is a fine combination.

You can also add a little black pepper, hot sauce, parmesan cheese, green relish or finely chopped cucumber at this point. Stick to one or two of those suggestions, so as not to complicate the flavor, or don't use any.

Spread the butter over the bread and add the tuna mayonnaise filling. If you like, you can add thinly sliced cucumber or tomatoes as well. Don't overfill the sandwich or it will be super-messy to eat.

I regularly make such sandwiches for myself. Sometimes I like to add some drained canned corn kernels to the tuna mix as well. Enjoy!

    How To Make Tuna Sandwich

A standard tuna sandwich is really just bread with some tuna mixed with mayo on it.

Personally, I like to do my own little rendition (and all of my friends like it a lot more than the standard or even the ones at restaurants).

I use two cans of tuna, 4 eggs, and then I add mayonnaise and dijon mustard (regular works just fine too) to taste. Of course, you could cut it down to 1 can and 2 eggs or just 1 egg... If you even like eggs! However, this is by far the best tuna salad I have ever tasted. I'm sure other people do something similar or better but this is how I've always made it is how I've always liked it. If you enjoy relish and/or cucumber, just go ahead and add those to taste. I'm not a big fan of relish but I've used it in tuna salad and I like it just fine.

After you have it all mixed, I'd recommend putting it on toasted wheat bread. I'm not a big fan of butter on the bread for my tuna sandwiches but untoasted buttered bread could be nice if that's how you like yours made.

Good luck on your tuna sandwich making adventure!

I haven't read the other answers you've received already - just read your question and additional details.

Here is how I make my tuna salad mix:

    1 can tuna fish

    Diced white or yellow onions

    Black pepper

Mayonnaise (I prefer Best Foods or Hellman's - same product - different coast of the U.S.)

That's the very simple way to make it. Mix all that together. But you may also want to add pickle relish (sweet or sour - your choice) and chopped hard-boiled eggs. I've even fixed it on occasion with diced celery in it.

Any combination of the above is good. I also like to put it between the two slices of bread, butter the outside and brown it in a skillet on both sides. The heat does something to the mixture and really makes it taste great. Some restaurants toast the bread and put the cold tuna mixture on it but it loses something doing it that way. I've also had it in restaurants where they put a slice of cheese in it before heating it. I prefer no cheese.

    hope that helps.

    Two ways:

    1. You can spread mayo on 1 slice of bread, mustard on the other, then spread drained tuna in-between and press together.

    2. Make tuna salad. To your tin of tuna, drained, add a dollop of mayo, a dab of yellow mustard, and mince up some pickles (I like both sweet and dill) or use pickle relish (already chopped for you!). Add some black pepper and stir. Taste for flavor, add more of whatever you think it needs (juice from pickles is also nice for some twang). Then spread this between 2 slices of bread, add some lettuce and tomato if you like, and enjoy. You can also eat tuna salad on crackers, or cut a small tomato into wedges and serve a dollop of tuna salad in the middle of that.

Open the can of tuna almost all the way, leaving about a cm connected. Over your sink turn it over and use the lid to press up on the tuna, draining out the water or oil it's packed in. Then open the can and put it in a bowl. Add the mayonnaise, a couple tablespoons, and stir well. If it seems dry add more and stir again repeating until it's how you like it. Some people add a tbs of sweet pickle relish to it, or a tsp of mustard. My mother adds a tbs of capers. I like to stir in chopped celery (1 med stalk), and nothing else to the basic tuna-mayonnaise, and serve it on good bread with lettuce, thinly sliced cucumber, and tomato.

    1. Butter two slices of bread.

    2. Mix can of tuna with a tablespoon of mayonnaise.

    3. Spread onto bread.

Options- at step 2. add some cucumber or sweetcorn or lettuce or spring onion.

Options- at step 3. Layer some salad on the tuna or add some more extra mayo onto one slice of bread.

Options- at step1. Toast the bread or use mayo instead of butter.

    Enjoy!!!

Forget the Mayo. It is a killer of your health. I eat tuna often. I use plain toast with sweet relish for white tuna in water. I use mustard with Chunk Albacore white tuna in water. Better yet, take the can of tuna, drain the liquid, cut up a tomato and a zuchinni, and microwave all of it. Eat that mixture with a side of plain toast. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Mix the mayo a little bit of horseradish and diced cucumber. Add black pepper and some lemon zest if you have it. Stir in the tuna and put on toasted sourdough bread.

haha ok. Open the tuna and put it in a bowl. Mash it up if its really chunky unless you like it like that. Add about a spoon full of mayonnaise and stir it up. I like to toast the bread but you don`t have to. Then just put it on the bread and enjoy!
