Okay, I'm not christian but my father is a pastor and I was raised christian. I see that you are getting a lot of bible verses and personal pleas. It really does depend on the people involved. Even if the parents are strictly christian it would depend on their particular faith. There are some faiths which don't take issue with the believer/non-believer thing. Most, however, prohibit it for reasons biblical or practical.

If the people involved are very invested in the idea that a believer should not be with an atheist at the very least it will cause stress and fighting. Religion is a touchy subject for much of the world. It has ended many relationships and caused wars. My personal opinion would be that it is more trouble than it is worth.

If they really care for one another and want to try to make it work, I'm sure something could be worked out. Just be prepared for some fireworks with a side of grenades.

It depends on how devoted you are to your religion. Are you an atheist because you know little about Christianity? To truly reject Christianity you must be well informed about what it is. I suggest that you ask her family to loan you a Bible. Don't try to read it from page 1 to the end. It will only confuse you. Start with the book of Matthew and read that book and the next 3. They are about the life and teachings of Jesus. You will find that some of the same events are related by more than one of those authors, each in his own way. Christianity is based on the person and teachings of Jesus, and so you will get a good picture of what it actually is about. Then it will be time to intelligently ask questions to help you understand further.

Christians are to have nothing to do with unbeliever in dating or marriage relationships. The Christians risks being deceived into not believing, or compromising their faith. Jesus said if we love anyone more than Him, we are not worthy of Him.

Nothing wrong with such but the Christian must obey their parents. If the Christian involved is living with their parents, Christians must obey their parents. If he/she openly disobeys their parents, then they are in rebellion to God and their parents, both of which are sins.

Ephesians 6:1-2: 1: Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2: Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;).

Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

2 Timothy 3:1-2: 1: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2: For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy.

Romans 1:28-30 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29: Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30: Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents.

I beg of you not to put your friend in the position of chosing between you and God. For the person may damaged their relationship with her parents and God and ultimately with you.

    In Christ's name,

Be not yoked with unbelievers. I would never allow my children to be with Atheists. If the Atheists become Christians they would be welcomed with open arms.

“In whatever condition each one was called, brothers, let him remain in it associated with God.” (1 Cor. 7:24)

(1 Corinthians 7:39) A wife is bound during all the time her husband is alive. But if her husband should fall asleep [in death], she is free to be married to whom she wants, only in [the] Lord.

as long as they love each other, does it matter what they believe?

just because they believe in something different doesn't mean their bad, sinful or a temptation.

love knows no colour, race, gender and belief.

Source(s): a christian who wouldnt care if his love didn't believe.
