How to negotiate a salary?

So i am interviewing for a management position that pays between 48-50 thousand a year, and I have contact who are also long time managers in this work place that have negotiated a higher salary than the the normal is because they are desperate to hire people who will stay.

So for example how would I go about negotiating this salary, like for example if i was shooting for like 52,000 or more.

Have you talked about your expected salary yet? Tell them you're interested in job in the $55,000 / yr range.

If they're offering you $50k a year and you're past the interviewing process, I really don't think asking for an extra $2000 a year is a big deal. That would equate to like an extra 40 or 50 dollars on each check, if even that. You might want to set the bar a bit higher and negotiate down to 52.

Go into any negotiation with a plan. If the salary you mentioned is what you want and is the minimum you will work for, be honest and tell them. Know what you are willing to accept and what you aren't wiling to accept before you go in.

Give them reasons why you feel you deserve that amount and why you are going to be worth that extra investment.
