  • 9month kitten/canned food/how much?

Our Kitten is 9 months old and weighs about 10 lbs, she cannot eat dry crunchy food due to having Periodontal Stomtis,,,the dry food makes her gums bleed,,,poor thing, she really loved the dry 2...I have been doing some looking at labels, geez, they all have different recommendations,,,currently feeding her fancy feast, she wants 3 (3oz) cans per day, is this 2 much,,the water content on all of the reasonably priced canned foods just doesn't fill her up...when she was on the dry, she was a grazer, eating whenever she wants, cant do that anymore...any suggestions?

  • 5 mo. old kitten--new eating habit?

Lizzie is 5 months old, spayed last week...Has been fed Pro Plan canned food for 6 weeks, loved it, until SUNDAY, she will eat a tiny bit and leave the rest, she has her own bowl,,i thought maybe it was stuck in the corner of the bowl so i would scoop it up into a nice pile for her, this usually works, i tried putting it on a saucer, NOPE, didn't help, if it had been in the fridge, i warmed it up, Still not good enuf....SO tonight when she shrugged it off, i got a bit angry, took the can out of the fridge, stuck in a spoon and chopped it into large hunks..and put the can on the floor, she ate almost all of it...WHAT GIVES>>>any suggestions,,is my kitten finicky or bored with the same ole dish?..(she has been eating her dry food out of her other bowl) oh ya,,we even tried using different flavors.

  • What position does your cat sleep in?

Lizzie (4 months) sleeps on her back, front legs stretched back over her head, spread eagle back legs,,isn't that a vulnerable position for an animal? She has only been here 4 weeks, guess she feels pretty safe.

  • What is unique about your kitten/cat?

I'm a mom, i guess as a parent we are always looking for what makes our child special, separates them from the rest, something to brag about...Now i have a kitten (4 months) old, again i am looking for signs of super intelligence in her, from what i have read, shes pretty much the run of the mill kitten, doing what other kittens her age do...

What i think is unique???? is her playing fetch..Now i know, retrieving is a natural kitten thing to do, what makes her unusual is...i throw the toy, she picks it up and brings it to me, not near, but right to my foot, lays down (i pet her) and drops the toy..I didn't teach her this, she just does it..

What does yours do that you think is unlike any other, whats unique about yours?

  • Have you ever Treat Trained your cat?

Problem-working with a 4 month old kitten, when she does something undesirable i need to her respond to me, NO, OFF, DOWN, GO, OUT, we have tried everything, squirt bottle, smack rolled up paper on hand, coins in a can..doesnt bother at all, I was wondering, she does not associate a negative response at her behaviors..We were wondering if we could instead reward her for responding to the same words, associate something good (like a treat) with following these commands..I have never used treats for training, never had to, our other cats never behaved the way this one does. Nothing scares her, not loud sounds, nothing,,,but maybe positve reinforcement would work, or do you think she might continue doing the bad things, then compling with the commands just to get a treat?

  • Kittens-seeks constant attention even if its negative attention?

OK, Lizzie is 4 months old,,I am 53 and do not work,so i am here with her all the time, she gets ALOT of attention, playing with, holding her, kisses and games..I am very entertaing..as long as I do what Lizzie wants to do, things are pretty good. I cant play with her ALL the time, things need to be done, HERES the Problem...At night, after my husband is home, she changes, she loves him and he gives her attention too, but when we are trying to watch TV, she goes nuts, racing thru the house, getting onto everything, she beats the blinds, she gets on everything, claws furniture (does not do it during the day), she literally does everything she is not supposed to do, over and over and over and over, we correct her and she does it again..We don't know what to do,,squirt bottle, forget it, she likes to be wet, shaker can , she thinks it a toy..Now i figure, she knows what she is doing, seeking attention, even if it is negative, don't know what to do.HELP

  • Your thoughts-clothes on cats?

OK, so, i know this is silly, but, we have a kitten, when going thru the pet departments, we have been seeing clothes for small animals, at this time of year mostly halloween costumes..I could not believe it, but my husband wanted to buy her a sun dress ($15.00), i just looked at him and moved on...

I am asking this question early in the morning before all the kids get home from school, get on here and go OMG YES i love to dress and pet and love my cat, blah blah

So as an adult, what do you think about clothes for cats?

I just can't get into it, just doesn't seem right, but can see maybe a warm sweater for a small dog that has to go out in cold climates to do its thing, but that's it...

  • Dawn Dishwashing Liquid?

I have see SO many questions about Dawn removing fleas from animals that i visited their site www.dawn-dish.com,,,it washes dishes, cuts grease (suspends) for removal,,,it says "all dawn products are formulated for DISHWASHING" , it is not recommended on hair washing, but is used for removing heavy oil on AQUATIC animals and is a sponsor of the International Bird Rescue Research...

Dawn does not advertise their soap as a flea remover..it IS NOT good for the animals skin..

If you use a flea comb or pick the fleas off the animal and put them into a bowl of ANY DISHWASHING LIQUID, they will weighted down by the soap and eventually drown..

The only time my vet told me to use dawn on my cat is if she gets Covered in Grease, and ONLY then, to dampen a washcloth with a small amount of Warm Water mixed with DAWN and wipe the grease off..she said Do not immerse the cat in the soap and water.

Make your own conclusions, i am going by their website and my vets recommendations...

  • United Kingdom--do you have leash laws?

I made a comment on one of my questions about American Leash Laws and cats running wild..Another reader from the UK stated that it is considered cruel to keep a cat indoors?? Now i have this vision of thousands of cats running wild in the UK...are these animals at least required to be fixed?

  • New game for kitten-and it's easy?

I find keeping a kitten entertained is an endless job, i am always looking for games to play with her...I have long hair, so i always have the cloth covered ponytail holders..Since she likes to fetch (retrieve) things, i put the ponytail holder over my finger and it becomes a soft flying object for her, and its safe...She has learned that if she brings it back to me, i will do it again..now she will fetch it, come to me, lay down and drop it...very cute....i always tell her what a good girl she is and pet her when she lays down nice, then i shoot it again..is working for us...
